Ability to Delete Groups

Can there be an option to delete a community group you've started? We made one to pilot a program and now it's irrelevant. If you choose to delete it, it would send an email to everyone in the group notifying them of the change. They could "Accept" it or "Request to Keep" and it would send an email to the group administrator.

Definitely a group should be able to be deleted, AT LEAST if there are no other members.

Also, the group created SHOULD be able to mute/remove members from the group.

This is especially needed since most would expect a group created to be accessible from their fitbit app.   Since it is not, then there is little value in creating groups.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We're always striving to enhance Fitbit products and services, and we appreciate all of the input we receive from our customers. We do not currently have plans to release this feature. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs. For now, we will leave this suggestion open for votes (and closed to comments) so that we can continue to track community demand over time. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us and we will let you know if anything changes.

First Steps

As I understand it, users cannot create an open group from the start?  Not sure who creates the groups then?  In any case, moderators who have started a closed group (because they couldn't figure out how to create an open group) have no way to update the group status to be open going forward.  As a result, members of the group have to jump through hoops to add someone to the group (i.e., find them in a different group expressing interest about a particular topic and then invite them to join the closed group that pertains specifically to that topic).  Some people are reluctant to join what Fitbit has forced users to categorize as a closed group where the intention is to invite as many participants as possible.

Hi Sharon,

Thank you for your call and patience today.

We've checked and confirmed that we do not have the option to change a Closed group to a Public group currently. The only way for a user to be added is if someone invited them in. We advise you to submit that feedback here to improve our service and your experience in our Fitbit Community. We apologize for this inconvenience.

If you have any additional questions do not hesitate to contact us back.

Sincerely,

ligia.l and the Fitbit Team
