Ability to change daily goals without changing all past days

We should be able to change our goals without changing all of our past goals.
For example, on holiday break I was happy to lower my goal to 5,000 steps. Or converter, some days I want to do more and want to up my goal to 15,000 or even 20,000...but then It changes all the past days.

+1!

Managed to reach my daily step goal for some time, so I upped it to set myself a new challenge. Now all my old successess have become failures 😞

It doesn't make sense to change the target retroactively. This means for any goal, be it steps or stairs or water

I hear you! While you know that you have had those successes, it is still de-motivating to see that it appears that you have not. C'mon Fitbit, update to allow for progressive goals!

I agree with this 100% I was not a very active person so I set my orignal goals low and built it up by 1,000 steps every two weeks, I am now up to 11,000 a day goal but it looks bad when you look back now as anything under that shows as not meet goal when actually I had met the goals set on the majority of days!

I have a charge HR and would love to see the historic goals to be tracked.  It is a great feeling to know I'm meeting my goals and when I update to a new goal am disappointed that my history now shows I haven't met my goal.

It's been over two years since this issue has been brought up and still nothing has happened. Why is that? Why would a programming change take that long?

I agree...seems like no one is listening. It has been requested by lots of Fitbit users. Maybe it's time to switch to another tracker?

I agree as I get healthier I want to up my goals without having all my older met goals look like they were not met due to the change and it would be nice to see how my goals have changed over time as well.

I think you are correct. I'm comparing.

I'd also like to nominate the idea of being able log rest days would be very useful and is an important for one's helath.

Further, being able to log sick days would also be great.  It would be useful to track how often one is sick.

I agree….I use Sunday as my meal prep and family day and would love to be able to log it without “penalty” that I missed goals

I take a lot more steps during the week than at weekends. It would be really useful if I could set up a different step goal for Monday to Friday than on the weekends. I have looked for this feature but can't find it, if this is already possible and I have missed it please let me know.

Thanks

I agree. I want to continuously increase my goals, but part of the joy of having goals is achieving them and being able to look back at how far you've come. So whenever I up my goals, all the days that I reached lower goals show that I didn't achieve anything. Rather depressing. I would like to be able to "lock" historical data so it reflects what I achieved at that moment and not my current goals. I was looking back through other ideas and this was requested a long time ago and had a lot of support.

Hi,

Is there any way to create a different step goal each day? For example having higher step goals Mon-Fri then lower Sat-Sun? I can only see the option on the Android app setting to change it generically.

I regularly surpass the 10,000 step goal during the week when I am at work but don't hit it Sat-Sun due to being less active.

If I could set it to, for example, 16,000 Mon-Fri then 8,000 Sat-Sun it would be far better.

I know the step goal is to encourage you to be more active and strive for the goal however sometimes at the weekend I am not looking to hit 10,000 as it is my down time since I am so active at work during the week.

Thanks in advance.

I would like to see goals that you could set for various days. Example, weekdays would be set at one goal – weekends set at another. All without having to go in and manually change your goals.

I agree, I too was disappointed to see this happening as well

Any status on being able to change future goals without destroying past accomplishments?

I agree with all the posts about this. I've only had my fitbit for a couple of months and I originally set my steps target low (6000) to ease myself in to new habits. I've been increasing my levels of activity and watching what I eat and have lost 8 lbs in 6 weeks. I now want to motivate myself further by increasing my steps target. However, I was really disappointed to notice that when I changed my target it changed it for the past as well. I'm sure it's human nature to want to achieve targets and to have a record of that achievement, so to have those records wiped away and all those green stars disappear is really infuriating. I want to have a record that shows that I'm meeting the targets that I set myself and that those targets are gradually getting more difficult. For me this is a major flaw with fitbit and I can't believe that such a big company haven't dealt with this. I believe that it is possible to set different goals for weight loss as you progress, why not for steps and other things, like active minutes as well. Please please sort this out fitbit.

It would be very helpful if I could set different step goals for certain days during the week. I work at a gym 4 days a week, so my goal for those days is higher than my days off. I know that the daily goals are intended to keep us moving everyday, but realistically most of us will have at least 2 days that will be less active than the rest. It would be nice to set goals according to our personal schedule instead of having the same goal each day.

Thank you so much for all of your hard work & thanks in advance for considering making this option available!

Please, Fitbit, please make this change. I want to increase my step goal, but I'm not because I don't want to lose all the stars I got for meeting my previous goal. (I actually did change it, then changed it right back.) Those stars are incredibly motivating, and their absence is quite discouraging. Thank you.

Would it be possible to set separate step/activity goals for rest days? Eg: 15000 steps weekdays and 7500 steps weekends? Or 60mins activity weekdays and 30mins at weekends? May be helpful when wanting to let muscles etc rest and repair on certain days and not feel 'guilty' about doing so.
Many thanks 😀

I would like the ability to increase my daily targets, steps, distance etc without it affecting my past targets. E.g. When I increased my 6000 steps to 8000, I lost my green achievement stars for all the days I had completed the 6000.
Perhaps we could have a function that allows us to have more than one daily target so we don't loose previous data?

I never understood this either. We should be able to adjust goals without erasing all the daily achievements that came years and months before. Also, we should be able to make at least one day exempt from daily goals so we can have a proper rest day without tracker guilt.

Agreed! I just said the same in another suggestion. We need rest days without hating the sight of our tracker/app.

Ha ha I like your tracker guilt, I feel the same and I've only had mine a few weeks! Thank you for replying and agreeing about the achievements. I had thought it was me being petty but when you've worked for something and then later it's taken away it's a bit disheartening.

Agreed! Hope Fitbit is listening. It's actually a disincentive from increaseing goals more often! Idk why we'd even have to tell Fitbit that it's so logical. And, the tracker guilt only gets worse 🙂 If you're new to Fitbit do yourself a favor and train now to remove it or ignore it for a day of rest. I got so attached it was making my rest days miserable. True love/hate relationship!
