Ability to change daily goals without changing all past days

We should be able to change our goals without changing all of our past goals.
For example, on holiday break I was happy to lower my goal to 5,000 steps. Or converter, some days I want to do more and want to up my goal to 15,000 or even 20,000...but then It changes all the past days.

I saw this implemented when i was with Nike Fuelband.  it seemed like an easy concept.

Agreed. A history of my goal changes would be useful/motivating too!

I would also like to see how far I've come rather then thinking how much I failed.

I agree with this idea and was coming here to suggest (among other features). Just jumping in to say... I AGREE!

Thanks!

I would like to be able to go in on Sat nite before bed and preset ,for example Sun and Thurs as rest days like described above, then set the active day goals. I'd like to be able to do it a week at a time instead of having to reset it every day.

I agree. I'm finding that I'm reaching the 10k easily and would like to make it more challenging but have not found upping the daily step goal as an option unless it's in a prescripted challenge between friends.

Yes, when you increase your goals it should ONLY affect that day and any future days.  So the past data is not changed or affected by the increase of the goals. This should definitely be enhanced in the app.  So make record of date the change, also keep a record of the goal it was set at on that date and keep a copy of those in the database and then changes will only affect that date and greater.  This will help us keep history data and show the goals were met prior the change.  (I'm a programmer so I'm thinking of this change when it comes to coding.... hehe can you tell)  🙂

This enhancement to the app would be awesome!!  Hope you make the change soon!!  🙂

This is really important. Myfitnesspal has the same problem and it's especially problematic since you go through different phases of fitness. I'm recovering from a broken bone so my activity level is and needs to be much lower now.

This would be an excellent solution for those of us that are more active on the weekends. I would love to have a 15k goal M-F and a 25k goal on the weekend, but the way it changes everything in the past is prohibiting me from doing that.

I wonder if we are all getting a little bit to demanding in our "wants" category. Fitbit trackers are great!!! And hey, because you don't have a little star by your step totals from the PAST, does that take away from knowing you DID hit your goal? Do we really need a excessive amount of "gold stars" from the teacher here people? Let's focus on the important part of all this... US. Let Fitbit help us, let's put more energy into using the products that Fitbit HAS offered us, and less energy into complaining about WANTING this, that, and the other thing. Ever wonder why people from around the world call us greedy Americans? Any ideas? Lol now GO WALK!!!! 🙂

Another stereotype about Americans is that they ignore the rest of the world.

My favourite part of your redundant and condescending post, BryBub, was the way you couldn't even imagine anyone in this thread isn't American.

FWIW, this is a "Feature Requests" area. If you think the apps and hardware are perfect then there's really no need to read this board. If you love the tools but have an idea for how they could be even better then by all means join the discussion in a constructive way. Let's face it, nobody even NEEDS a Fitbit - this is a first world luxury in the first place!

You mean people outside of the U.S. use Fitbit? Wow. Now that's cool.

Complaining hat people are requesting new features in the community area for requesting new features seems silly.

Hold on a second, you mean to tell me that people outside the U.S. use Fitbit too? Wow. Very cool. Okay, I guess I meant to say that whiners aren't limited to only the U.S. Thank you for helping me to clarify. Correct, nobody "needs" a Fitbit or what they offer. What they offer. People complain about what they don't offer more than what they do offer is what I was trying to say. Be happy with what you have, and give Fitbit time to accommodate a million people's, million different requests.

Hi I've also requested this feature so I can see that I've reached past goals as I strive for new ones!

I hope this feature can added-to preserve past goals!

I love this idea. And I get some people on here posting that it "isn't that big of a deal" that you don't have a star next to your steps anymore ... but I'm a very visual person and that's helpul and motivating to me to see those stars - it's a quick check to see where I'm at in my week/month, etc.

Completely understand, I felt bad at first but then I just got moving.

I'll definitely add a big thumbs up to this idea in feature requests. I don't see it as a "want," but a more integrated part of why I have a FitBit - to track changes over time and push myself.

In the meantime, I think I'll just *virtually* up my goals and add a column to my food journal (spreadsheet).  That way I can at least paint the cell green when I reach my new daily goals!
