Able to create a custom meal and indicate number of servings

I would really like to be able to build a recipie and then indicate how many servings it makes and how much I ate and see nutritional break down by servings too.  I think it would way easier than trying to enter all ingredients then when its time to eat the leftovers I can just add the recipie serving.

Hi @KLP16, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us about having the option to create and log frequent meals, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here as it is not currently planned. This helps maintain the Community and the Feature Suggestion board more organized.

Thank you again for sharing your ideas with us.

Hi

Absolutely agree, it’s painful to have to constantly put it in each time and then you just give up in the end.

The My fitness Pal app is so much more efficient, recommended to me by the gym I’m at and so I use this now instead

The ability to add a custom meal is a great feature, but it is sorely lacking the most basic functionality to make it useful.

Please add the ability to identify the number of servings the meal makes, then allow us to add to our food log by servings or by a portion of the meal (i.e. 1 serving or 1/4 of the meal) - not the entire meal!

@HT70 Thank you for your suggestion about adding the ability to enter serving or portions of meal.

I moved it to this thread to keep this board organized and because it is the same idea.

I've noticed that the Fitbit Food database has become a LOT better recently (UK) however most evenings (2-3) per week I eat the same meal which consists of approx 8 different foods.

It would be nice to be able to create a meal (e.g. Hot chicken Salad with chips) and then add these 8 foods to it.  Then every evening I want to add to my intake I can just click "Hot chicken salad with chips" and it would add all 8 foods.

If you need an example MyFitnessPal currently does this but I'd rather be logging everything under one app.

I feel it is still an issue and one that is probably quite easily rectified

I completely agree. I have been on and off the healthy lifestyle wagon for years, and I have tried to track in Fitbit, but it's such a pain. Every time I make a recipe I have to figure out how many servings it is, and then divide each ingredient by that amount to be approximately accurate. It's a pain.

Making it easier to log a meal or food that is homemade instead of adding every individual ingredient every time you have that meal, having some sort of saved log. The add custom food only works if the food comes from a packet with all the figure given to you.

Had my suggestion linked to this, i think its a great idea!! It would make my life easier and to all those who have used other apps I’m not one for loads of apps on my phone and wish i could do it all within the fitbit app like i should and adding this feature would make my life so much easier

Please add a recipe feature Fitbit! People have been asking FOR YEARS! It's kind of a joke that there isn't one yet. Other apps not only have recipe builders so you can save recipes and just enter a serving whenever you make it, but they have the ability to just put in a URL and the app pulls the recipe from the page and adds it. I just came back to Fitbit after using an Apple Watch and then a Fossil Venture for 3 years and I could not believe how little the food logging app has changed. With a few changes Fitbit could really be the all-in-one app it should be. Please work on the food logging feature! It's like a decade behind.

Please please Fitbit, implement a recipe builder for scratch recipes in the app! I’ve found the joy in cooking with my air fryer and instant pot but the inability to build recipes “my way” is very disappointing. Yes, I can select a “common” meal or option but it’s not the same!  You can make this app a one stop shop so users wouldn’t have to use other options.

Or not use Fitbit. I set mine aside in February of last year. I was so
enthusiastic when I received it for Christmas 2018, but after realizing I
couldn't easily upload custom recipes, it has sat plugged into the charger
for nearly a year now. Waste of money in the end.

Please add this feature. I used My Fitness Pal and loved being able to import recipes from online and to integrate my own with serving breakdowns.   I don't want to have to switch back and forth between apps to do this.  Please add this in.

This is by far my number 1 desired feature.

I currently use MyFitnessPal to create a recipe, then I enter it as a custom food in Fitbit. But then if I tweak something next time, I have to go back to MyFitnessPal, then update it again in Fitbit.

It would be great if there was a feature that allowed you to further customize the food. I often have difficulty entering a meal I’ve ate because I’m not able to take off certain ingredients such as the bread. I enjoy keeping track of what I’m eating; however, it can be difficult to be accurate when eating out with my family and friends.

It would be nice to be able to check off/select food items that you have already logged for a meal (such as what you ate for lunch that day) and save them as a group for a favorite meal, rather than having to go and add them all again one by one if you want to create a favorite meal.

The way favorite meal creation is set up currently, it's a bit laborious and repetitive if you don't realize up front that you want to save a favorite meal.

Hi @Yahaira_ca. Thanks for sharing your Feature Suggestion with the Community. We aren't sure what you mean by being able to further customize the food? To understand your idea better, do you refer to being able to modify the food database, your frequent and recent food or your custom meals? Please reply with more details. I'll look forward to your reply.

Hello!

I read through the previous suggestions and saw a few things but nothing that exactly helped me with what I was looking for.

First,

It would be nice to have a recipe tab that you can add in the ingredients of the recipe and have that saved in a log like the custom food. That way you can also adjust servings based off the full recipe each time you cook/bake it. Its all fine and well that you can add the individual items and they are sort of linked but not exactly; and it isn't very good if you're cooking lasagna or something like that I would need to put in like three lasagna noodles and such every time and when I search hope it is connected to the lasagna noodles I selected last time to see the rest of the parts I added. This would save so much time and make it much easier. Currently I have a different app that I use that has ALL the fitbit features, premium features (minus sleep), plus this feature for free and I really want fitbit to be up to par.

Second,

When adding something into the custom food it changes the amounts of what I add. For example, if I specifically put something in as 16 oz and save it it changes it to 2 cups when I go to log it. If I wanted it to be 2 cups I would have added it that way. Now if have that same item and it is now 20 oz I need it figure out the cups value of that instead of simply changing it to 20 oz.

Lastly,

The potassium section is a little difficult as 99% of what I eat that has a nutrition label lists that as a percentage of the common daily value. Can there please be an option in that section to use either the percent or grams?

Thank you!

I"m with sgwingo on this, I would find it very helpful to be able to create a meal (as made) and then be able to select a potion of the meal to log. When I make smoothies, I make it for two. It would be very convenient if I could log all the ingredients as a meal, but then just log 1/2 of the meal for my nutrition information.
