Able to create a custom meal and indicate number of servings

I would really like to be able to build a recipie and then indicate how many servings it makes and how much I ate and see nutritional break down by servings too.  I think it would way easier than trying to enter all ingredients then when its time to eat the leftovers I can just add the recipie serving.

Hi @Yahaira_ca, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to create meals on the Fitbit app. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

Being able to scan in items to create a meal. Then being able to add that meal to my calories with my serving. I now you can do it on the web dashboard, but my time spent between Fitbit app and web dashboard. I am on the app 99.9% of the time. My fitness pal can do this with no problem. I would love to not use my fitness pal at all.

Is there any plan to add this function?

It would be as easy as adding an option to set the "Serving Size" for meals. This would turn a meal into a recipe, as simple as that.

It would be helpful to add ingredients from my own recipes to my Fitbit food diary area (perhaps under custom) and specify the number of portions made. And then when adding to food diary, i can choose this recipe and number of portions I have eaten. This could be a batch of homemade cookies or a pot of chilli con carne for example.

They so need this, any type of recipe to track is awful without this type of feature.

I use My fitness pal for/to build recipes since fitbit doesn’t allow for that yet.

I absolutely agree that food logging needs to be improved. I previously used Noom but when I ended my subscription I moved to fitbit for macros. I liked that Noom let you log a meal from a previous day, so I could say for lunch today, log yesterday's lunch, boom done. I also agreed with one of the previous comments about being able to build a meal. Eating the same salad often? Enter in all the ingredients, log it as your custom salad and fitbit calculates the macros for you. That would be awesome.

I see the original post here was from 2018 and using the Fitbit app to log food in 2020 means this hasn't been improved and it needs to be. You could steal Noom customers if you improved this, Fitbit, get to it!

I am using MyFitnessPal to enter all of my food and recipes. I record my
exercise on my FitBit, then transfer it over to MFP which calculates
calories burned differently, so it's not ideal for sure. It would be nice
if everything was in one place, but since my original post was over two
years ago and so many people have responded with the same frustration, I
doubt FitBit is going to fix this anytime soon.

YoBubba, thank you for recommending Cronometer, I didn't know about it. It's great, just what I was looking for. I was using https://www.nutritionix.com/ to create the recipes and copying the Nutritional Facts to Fitbit, but Cronometer is better, more polished.

Thanks you for sharing. I just hope Cronometer had an option to pay to remove apps that wasn't a monthly subscription.

A lot of users make and eat the same meals. It would be easier for us to track calories if we were able to create a meal with the entries we use.
Example: if we were to make a garden salad (Lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, ranch dressing, etc.). Make it so we can add those entries as a whole under "Salad" to where they are categorized calories.

Glad to see that this is under consideration, but that was 4 years ago. Having the ability to enter a recipe once and saving all the nutritional info would be wonderful. I tried entering in MyFitnessPal and some info transferred but not all the nutritional info. I'd like to exclusively use the FitBit app but this lack of functionality is making it difficult

Exactly my experience. It caused me to quit trying for nearly two years,
but I'm back at it. If FitBit wants their users to stick with them, they're
going to have to figure this one out. I bet there are users who could write
the code for them if they can't figure it out themselves....

When I used the WeightWatchers some 6-7 years ago now, they had a really handy feature which would let you log individual ingredients into your food log, and then ‘save’ these ingredients to create it as a ‘meal’. Your saved meal would be added to your own personal ‘library’ of meals in your app to search and use again and again.

Stepping Up

I asked for this a few years back too and a moderator from FitBit said it had been added.  I still do not see it in the web app or in the mobile app.  the ability to click a button, link, anything! that would take a recently created meal and save it to the custom, meals or my foods section anywhere. This would make the Fitbit app a superior product.  I'm upset that after logging this request and receiving notification that it has been added, I am responding to your request still with the hopes that someday it will be in the app.  Sounds like they are losing marketshare to Noom and other trackers.

SkuzzieMuff

Yeah, I keep getting notifications that they're aware of the request but nothing happens. Apparently this request has been around for a few years. There is the ability to add a custom dish, but not exactly a full meal of individual pieces. I also really liked that while using Noom I could click to log a meal from a previous day to the present day, so if I eat the same salad a few days in a row, I can just log yesterdays lunch as today's lunch. So much easier than adding all of the individual salad elements every single day...
