Able to return to previous Fitbit app version

Woke up this morning to your new app. To say the least I am not impressed. It lacks color and is boring and adds nothing new to what was there before. I absolutely hate it. I am a longtime Fitbit user but this might actually change that on next purchase.

I just talked to customer service. It didn't seem like FitBit was jumping to go against he new owner: Google. I didn't know Google bought Fitbit. Did I get bad intelligence??

@ScottieBrittGoogle completed it's acquisition of Fitbit in January 2021. Furthermore, all Fitbit accounts will have to be moved to a Google account sometime in early 2025 or you will not be able to access any of your data or use the app

I tend to agree that this was a deliberate move by Google to try and get current Fitbit users to buy their products like Google watch. Not only will I never buy such products, but I will no longer be using the Google search engine. DuckDuckGo is the search engine for me. To hit Google where it hurts, I suggest everyone do the same and start using DuckDuckGo as their search engine of choice. It's a much more secure and private means of searching anyway.

I’m so upset about the new version. I just want to cry. I’ve stayed with fit bit for a long time because of the ease and fun way to use it. Now I don’t care to even check the app because I can’t find anything and it’s so confusing.  I have a rank 1 college education and I feel like I’m looking at a kids drawing that doesn’t make sense.

@splitrim - at least you still have SOME of your history left. My entire 4 years got wiped out. 😞

I have downloaded the duck duck go Searcy engine. Thanks for the tip. I might get rid of the new Charge 5. … and invest in Apple Watch later. Still hoping google will smarten this app up to the likes of its customers!

Huge companies tend to have:

1. People who won't admit their mistakes.

2. People who will do anything to justify their job (like come up with a useless interface "re-work")

And we are the ones that have to suffer **ahem**ty products.

After time after time and TONS of time on chat, I am done with empty promises. If I remember correctly, on Oct. 8 it was posted that they were going back to the old app. Well, nothing yet and this morning I lost another 450 steps, about 10 to 20 zone minutes, 2.5 hours of sleep, and heart rate all over the place yet again. Probably miles and calories aren't right either. So this morning I ordered my new smart watch from another company. The ONLY good thing that came of this is I can charge my fit bit at night because it doesn't work right anyway, so I don't need to wear it to bed. About 3-5 more days and I can throw it in the street, across the room, or anywhere else I want because I will have my new one. Bye bye fit bit.

Please please go back to the old dashboard. I loathe this one, not user friendly, hard to see due to so much white screen, looks like you went back to DOS dark ages. Hate it.

It has been some time now and I hate the new app more every day. I am so disappointed in Fitbit. I am looking forward to ditching Fitbit entirely and going to a competitor. You should pay attention to your users. Are you secretly working for Apple? You seem to be pushing your customers in that direction.

I share your immense disappointment. I have cancelled by premium subscription. but I am not in a financial position to change my fitness device.

I hate this new app. It looks horrible and finding data is difficult.

Going back to an earlier version isn't possible through the supported app stores.

There are some changes coming to the app, details are here.

I am wondering if all of us are seeing the same app or if it appears differently in different parts of the world. I agree with all of you that the new app is horrendous and hope for either a return to the old one of a well designed new app.

  1. I can see most of the data I usually look at - Steps, Heart and Cardio Fitness, Sleep, Zone Minutes, Readiness Score, Floors, Health Metrics and Stress Management.I also get the fireworks on my watch on reaching the daily goal. It is just that it is inconvenient and badly organised. For Example I would prefer Zone Minutes as presented in the old app. Also unable to understand why the map tracking runs is so terrible - it looks like a child's squiggle and one cannot identify the location.  Still looking forward to some improvement as I can ill afford to replace the watch in a hurry.

Hello Stan, what is the old app called? I uninstalled, then reinstalled FitBit and it is still this new, terrible layout.

Yep, the other day my StupidBit logged 233 steps when I got over 10K.
