Yes, there is an android app but is still not supported on chromebooks with google play store, i have a samsung chromebook plus which can run android apps, it syncs with my fitbit just fine but some features (notifications) are broken
Agreed. We have been complaining about this for years. Fitbit obviously does not care. I am able to sync on my chromebook and smartphone but if it requires any kind of update then I have to use my husband's Windows laptop. Ridiculous.
@peteyjohnson it is not that Fitbit doesn't care, the Chromebook runs a browser based operating system, and the browser is unable to read data from an external device connected through Bkuetooth.
It however could communicate and work with a tracker connected with a Bluetooth cable. So yes for it could write a program that will work, but it would work oIly with the Blaze and the Surge .
For now the preventing factor is that it is impossible to write an app for the Chromebook that will work with the other tracker.
This is also the reason there is no sync now button on the web based dashboard .another highly requested feature.
In short .we have to wait unroll someone adds the ability to the web browser.
Well, this company is very helpful and so nice.I ........ well there is so much to say about this company that it is not possible to say in a short body passage.I love the fitbit flex 2 they should make a fitbit flex 3 with a big screen [touch screen] and put messages and calling and other stuff. But i think what doesn't just click is that you have to have a iphone or a phone to set it all up.
A desktop computer running Won 10 or Mac may also be used.
See my lay post for the problems with writing a web based app to sync a Fitbit. Yes this is possibkepbut do to hardware limitations it will only work with the Surge and Bkaze.
As mentioned above Chrome is a browser based OS, and currently a web browser can not connect to a bluetoothBdevice for data transfer. This is why their isn't a sync now button on Fitbit.com.
I'm sure Fitbit will add a.Chrome app when the Chrome OS will allow Bluetooth devices to sync.
As for a direct connection this would work in chrome. but it would be limited to devices that can directly connect, the Blaze and Surge. Both have been retired.

Since most younger kids under 10 years of age have iphones, it would be WONDERFUL if they could sync their Ace 2 Fitbit thru a Kindle Fire Tablet or their Chromebook. My daughter just received a Kids Ace 2, she's 8 years old, and the only option we had was to sync it with my iphone. So now she can't manage her account or challenges unless she goes into my phone. Had I know all of this I wouldn't have bought this watch for her. It's very disappointing.

Hello, I recently reset my watch due to a problem. Little did I know that my MacBook charger wasn't working, and that was how I transferred music. A music app for Chrome OS (my only other device) would be very helpful, or if I could transfer music I have downloaded on my phone. Thanks, everyone.

So I have a Chromebook that runs Android 9.1 at home, I want to use it to receive notifications from it. The problem is that Fitbit needs a GPS to sync, and Chromebooks don't have a GPS. Could Fitbit make it so it used a direct Bluetooth tether, or maybe wifi when I'm home to get notifications?
Hi @blacknblue, thank you for feedback about getting notifications from your Chromebook. As mentioned before, this is not a Fitbit-compatible device so this is not possible. I've moved your request here. Since we know this idea is important to many of you, we have left voting open to continue tracking interest and will post another update if anything changes.
