Add Lloyds bank to UK Fitbit pay

More bank compatibility for uk Fitbit pay versa users. So far Fitbit pay is not connected to any major banks in the UK. The very few that fit bit pay is connected to I’ve never even heard of. So as a UK versa owner I have the special edition and can’t use the very feature that separates it from the the normal versa.

is Fitbit pay going to compatible with the major banks in the UK like Barclays, Lloyds, Santander, HSBC, NatWest, TSB, Metro Bank, Halifax, Royal Bank of Scotland etc and also I haven’t seen any where (shops) that accepts Fitbit pay yet.

In regards to what you posted about not seeing anywhere that accepts fitbit pay, it can be used anywhere thaf contactless payments are accepted. I have a starling bank account that i have linked to my fitbit for fitbit pay and ive not had any problems using it anywhere.

Hope this helps when fitbit get more banks compatible

Hi @43335132, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here as it is under consideration.

Waiting since i bought one of the first ionic watches, almost 2 years!, for
fitbit to add bank of Ireland or halifax or mastercard or visa to fitbit
pay. One of the main reasons i bought the ionic was fitbit pay and it is
useless to me despite asking on this forum over one year ago!
Marcel you and fitbit are grossly misleading people into thinking that
adding tgeir comment on this forum that action will actually be taken or
"under consideration!" You are mis selling this product and have never
replied to my request for a refund. I bought 4 fitbits before for all my
family never again unless you refund me or fix this lack of uk banks issue
! PAUL

Hi Paul
A sad indictment on Fitbit that this problem was raised nearly 2 years ago and we are no further forward, yet Fitbit continue to sell into the UK market when the infrastructure is not set up for working with UK banks.

Fitbit what have you to say about this? And we don’t want to be told to be patient!!

To be honest it is a waste of time requesting bank support in the UK ,it's been like this for over 12 months with little or no support for high street banks or cards

Two features sold in the ionic and versa

Fit bit pay

SPO2 sensor

Neither likely to be working as my time soon in the UK

I agree with wha5 everybody is saying. Just bought a Versa - I changed up from Charge 2 largely to get contactless payment and discovered that virtually no uk banks are supported. I was so unhappy! The advertising is very misleading and I may follow that up. I’d also assumed I could connect to Spotify where all my playlists live, but nope, can’t  do that either. Who uses Deezer? Feeling very disappointed and wishing I’d bought an Apple Watch.

Yes same, I was going to buy an Apple Watch now regret that decision.

While I sympathise with the disappointment, I personally won't buy Apple again because of their policy of rendering perfectly good hardware obsolete by withdrawing software support. My 3GS phone is still perfectly functional in all ways other than its software being outdated and Apple refusing to update it.
I like Apple products but that experience soured me on their business practises. I would have no confidence any Apple product will last more than a couple of years purely because of their inclination to remove support and force you to buy their newer model which has only minor hardware improvements.
It's a whole new topic really but J bring it up since several people mentioned Apple.

On another note, the voting mechanic is not suitable for this suggestion. The vast majority of users who are aware of this issue before buying will not get a fitbit product with fitbit pay and won't take interest to address the issue for others.

The only people commenting are those who like me saw that it works with contactless, which is ubiquitous at this point. It would not occur to them that their bank will almost certainly not accept it.

I got this from Argos purely by comparing with the normal charge 3 and there was no clarification or disclaimer. This product should not have been released to the UK market with such limited support.

Veru different topic. Lets not go off on a tangent. The focus is on fitbit
companies arrogance in marketing fitbit pay on their watches in uk when the
vast majority over 95% of uk bank cards do not support the service. They
compound this bu funnelling disgruntled customers like us to this forum to
rant to others while fitbit just ignore tge forum. Ypu could not makr it up
! Priceless !

Agreed it is another topic but it wasn't me who brought it up.

People should stick to FitBit's actions not draw vague, arguable comparisons to other devices.

I think if I took my watch back to Argos with this complaint they would give a full refund. There's no reasonable way for a customer to know this feature won't work based on how the product was sold to me. Which might be as much the fault of the seller as FitBit.

I'm also a fan of taking thesexissues up with retailers not just the manufacturer. It is the retailer who has the most direct legal obligations.

Ok good luck with that. I am supporting you . Let us know if you get any
joy with the retailer as opposed to fitbit

I can't believe this hasn't moved forward since April! This is being used as a styling point to  UK customers yet it's completely useless to most of us. Disappointing, Fitbit.

Stepping Up

Over the past year I have contacted Fitbit to complain about the lack of UK compatible banks for Fitbit pay on a number of occasions and the reply is a standard response that they are working hard to add more banks.  However it is plainly obvious that they are not doing about this issue as there has been no moving forward with this and even now the reply from fitbit is word for word the reply I got over a year ago.  In other words you have to treat fitbit pay as an obsolete function.  Maybe if we all send in stories to BBC Watchdog and they get involved something may be done.  After all no company wants national level bad publicity

Good idea

It’s complete nonsense and con of Fitbit to be using the user forum to seek support from users for an increase in UK bank coverage. This is a calculated misrepresentation of a product, via promotion of a feature that is virtually useless to a majority of its UK users; contactless payments.

Please can you add HSBC or American Express. I am not sure why this NFC feature is currently so limited in the UK. It is a bit frustrating. The SE version that I have bought offers little benefit over the standard version. Other countries get a much better deal (especially the US). Thanks.

I am considering taking it back. When I got it there were 2 reasons to pay £20 more for the SE, fitbit pay and the white strap which i quite like but sadly the holes seem to make my wrist itchy. And fitbit pay is currently pretty much worthless, opening a new account just for this seems more trouble than it is worth.

I wouldn't have much hope with a small retailer but Argos are usually pretty good with returns. If I decide to do it I will report back here.

But ultimately if anyone isn't happy that the product works as advertised then it's the retailer who has immediate responsibility to help, not fitbit. In the UK anyway, which is where this is causing an issue.

I have repeatedly contacted FitBit to address this issue. We were originally mislead over a year ago now when the Ionic product was launched in October 2017, where the promo video showed FitBit Pay in action, with NO disclaimer stating that not all banks are or will be active on this service.
I have contacted FitBit via the community boards, Facebook, Instagram , Twitter - all of which give the same canned response "look out for updates".
This whole thing of the community making suggestions and expecting people to vote for it is an utter sham! Its misleading - making people think they have a say in the matter, but we clearly don't.
Why did they mislead us to believe that this service will work, and now we have to suggest it as a feature and people vote on it???
If you look at the list of banks that are active in the USA, its clear that they only care for that market. And I would bet that USA consumers didn't have to make suggestions on the features page "please could you add my bank, etc etc" before the list grew and grew to what it is today. We have ONE major high street bank, Santander, and FitBit seem to think this is acceptable despite countless people having contacted them about this issue.
I have even mentioned to FitBit that they should be sued under the Trade Descriptions Act - the product was clearly miss-sold.
Very recently I reported this matter to the BBC programme WATCHDOG, I really hope that they will get behind this and highlight this matter on a bigger scale - it would force FitBit to put their cards on the table as to when exactly banks will be added to the service. And it will also warn off potential new consumer NOT to buy FitBit product if they expect to be using this feature.
I have had my Ionic for a year, and one of the biggest driving factors on my decision making process was the FitBit Pay feature - so I feel totally disgusted with the way that FitBit have been responding to me when I raise this matter with them. This is completely unacceptable.

Hello,

It is good to hear you comments, and to be honest I feel the same. I did open a bank account today so I could use the banking function. It does annoy me though, and it does feel like misrepresentation.

Additionally, I bought from John Lewis and they are also fairly good about returns.

Thanks for your update, Esme

The problem with dealing with Fitbit directly is that the feature does work, and they make no secret of which banks it works with providing you actually look it up online.

The problem is, retailers don't make it clear at the point of purchase. I went out to buy the normal Charge 3 but on the search the SE came up. The description and even packaging don't make it clear so the first I knew was on trying to register my card. It would be a handy feature so I'm torn on opening a new bank account just for this, returning it to the retailer, or waiting in hope.

If I returned it, it would be mostly to make a point I think. If it were a brand new feature I would understand integration takes time but the feature is a year old now and there has been very little progress.
