I skied today ( cross country ) an used the “bike” exercise mode, and I got what I wanted, distance, puls, speed, etc.. ( the gps wasn’t as precise as the other watch I used. But from what I can see at the forum it’s an issue you are working on with the Ionic ) But why cant you make it possible to edit the exercise afterwords from “bike” to “cross country skiing? When I do it, it just jumps back to “bike” after a few seconds.
Is this something that will come in the new updates?

Or make Cross Country skiing an default training mode?

Hi @Furua thanks for this - I've moved your suggestion here to this existing one around adding cross country skiing as an exercise. You might also be interested in voting for this suggestion about being able to edit exercises, which is under consideration. Thanks
I would like to see cross country skiing added to the activities list. I track my skiing but the stats and calories burned are not accurate. I believe it’s probably because the Fitbit thinks I’m walking up a hill at a slow pace, when in reality I’m actually skiing up a hill. Skiing up a hill is quite strenuous and burns twice as many calories as walking up a hill.
You need to add the possibility to track skiing (crosscountry, downhill etc.) on the Fitbit Ionic. It s not good enough to be able to manually enter it in the dashboard, if i wanted to i coudl basically just sell my ionic and use Excel. It is also not satisfying to use another exercise instead.
Fix this, i read that there are very many people asking for this, should be a no-brainer!
Shouldn't be very difficult to implement from a technical standpoint either, I imagine. I tried tracking using the Run exercise but then it wouldn't track distance when going downhill because it didn't registrer any steps.
EDIT: I don't think this should be exclusive to Ionic though. Mentioning it since the category for this suggestion is "Ionic".
This should be implemented ASAP and shouldn't be hard! Basically, you just need to have a mode where the Ionic uses the GPS to track without trying to override GPS data with step counts etc like it does for running...
I would love to see an app for cross country skiing, downhill skiing and SUP (stand up paddleboarding). I snowshoe and mountain climb so I think the 'hike' app would work for that. Thanks for your consideration!
Hi, I am a long exisitng Fitbit member and have had two trackers, currently with a Fitbit Ionic. I’m sure that there are many comments regarding this topic but I would like to explain some of the possible simplicities of Snowsports Tracking.
All snow sports categories track distances which could use the GPS function to track distance of runs. The accelerometer would be able to track speed and altitude. The Tracking would auto pause when stationary. Even if one function could be used, it would satisfy man the users and embrace all the features of the Ionic.
Please make this feature your next selling point! Make Fitbit the best tracker invented the world. Maybe incorporating it into an app?
Fitbit, we have been begging for this for a long time. The ionic has the capability of tracking it. Some of us are not geniuses and even we know what the Fitbit can use to track skiing. Make it an exercise or alternatively, an app. ASAP!
I have also made a feature suggestions similar to this: Nordic and Downhill Ski/Snowboard Tracking
It would e great adding xc and downhill skiing to the Fitbit. It’s a lot of people out there doing this and especially xc can’t be though to add as it’s not far from the run excercise?
PLEASE add skiing/snowboarding to the exercise tracker! We are very active on the mountain. Until then, does anybody know if there is another exercise tracker that actually works for skiing (running, biking etc)?
I hope fitbit realises that all of these ski requests are not just from surge users...the last moderator comment doesn't fill me with confidence that our requests are being heard, never mind considered. I think my blaze will be getting passed on and replaced by a.Garmin, shame but brand loyalty should rub both ways.
I’m currently out skiing and have been a bit disappointed that I am unable to recored my skiing activity each day unless I manually update it. I have been out for 2 weeks and still have a week left, each day I’m biting fat and going into cardio. It would be fantastic to be able to log it as a fitness and record properly. Anyone else with me 🙂
