Add body measurement feature

Can you please add a feature to track your body measurements: chest, waist, hips, thigh, and arm? I would like see my progress in inches +/-. When I'm not losing weight, I want to make sure the body inches are still going down. Thanks.

I would also love an area where you can enter in measurements such as arms, thigh, waist, hips, chest? Or even 5 different bars with drop downs so you can select what you want to record. People working on muscle don't see the scale move alot but do see the inches.

I would love to be able to track measuremenst on the fitbit app. I do not alwas have access to my computer to log/view my measurements with the website so being able to track with the app would be greatly appreciated.

Alot of people track progress by inches and not weight, so I'd like to also see goals around Body Measurements.

I would love this feature too. I can record them in myfitnesspal but I who'd like to see progress in the Fitbit app as well

I just bought a Fitbit in part because I had read people were tracking everything, including measurements, in their app. After a week of using fitbit, my weight has gone up, but my inches have gone down. I was super excited to add in my measurements when I read they decided to remove that option. WTH!??!?! It was one of the main reasons I bought this thing...to be able to log everything in one place!

Where did you read you could track everything @tidje?    It used to be able to track a few measurements but never everything.

I had read various girls in blogs online saying how much they loved their fitbits because they could track everything from their sleep, to their food intake, to their measurements... which is what I mean by everything. They had all of their information being tracked in one app. To me inches is the most important. It just seems incomprehensible to me that they would remove that option for tracking.

Oh they probably meant the custom trackers.  Yes, you had up to 2 custom trackers if I remember right.  Here is the post about the removal.  It won't help you that they are not there, but it lists exactally what was removed.

I liked the customer trackers but you could only see the last 30 days which was pretty much useless unless you export your data.

I agree. Please ring back the ability to track inches. I'm very disappointed to see this feature has been removed. And it should be added to the app as well.

It would be awesome and motivational to track body measurement

The ability to add body measurements would make this an "all-in-one" facility. At the moment I'm using two different apps and it brims trios and unwieldy

Related to measurement, can the BMI change automatically when you enter weight? I am having to use 2 different apps to calculate BMI.

There used to be the feature that allowed people to track body measurements which has been removed. I have looked at several of the pages of why it has been removed and the conversations around it. The conclusion is that FitBit are simply having an update, all very well.

However, isn't this leading people to focus solely on weight as a healthy measurement? If their weight goes down it is good, and if it goes up then it is bad?

I am a runner and often my weight will stay the same or even increase as I train, however I am able to see from my body measurements that my waist, hips and leg size is reducing and the weight increase is due to the build up of muscle.

I think this can be very disheartening for many people who are trying to loose weight and get fitter by dieting and taking up exercise, leading to people eating insufficient food to fuel their body for exercise (speaking from experience).

Hi Princessninja. BMI is automatically calculated. It's not immediately apparent. In the app dashboard, go to weight then swipe left (the four dots) to get to BMI. At least this shows up for me but I also have the Aria so weight is synced automatically. I imagine it also shows up when you manually enter weight

+1 on this feature request. And as proposed in some other comments in this thread other measurements, like those done with calipers, would also be really nice.

Other measurements that would be really cool to be able to add is body temperature and blood pressure. It might not be that "fitness oriented", but surely nice health aspects. I find it extremely interesting to see how my resting pulse goes up when I catch a cold, and it actually happen before I really feel it myself.

Thanks for reading!

Waist and hip for a WHR track would be awesome. Almost more useful than weight.

They used to have it. Its upsetting they removed it. I would also like it back.

I looked at all the posts & forums regarding body measurements and saw that it had been reviewed and declined.  Does this mean that including body measurements will never be an option? By not including a section for body measurements you have forced me to use another fitness app in conjuction with fitbit.  At this point, I'm thinking it might be easier to use the other app on its own.

I would like to see in the posting an explanation for why this feature has been removed and is no longer included.  It seems to me that tracking measurements wouldn't be so very different than tracking weight, so I'm not sure why this feature has been declined.  As you can see from all of the postings from Oct 2014-today, it is something that your consumers want and would utilize.

Hopefully this will be a feature that can be included in future updates.  Since not everyone seems to want to measure the same things, it would be great if you could include the basics (neck, chest, waist, hips) and allow users to edit it to be able to both remove areas to measure and to include other body areas (forearm, bust, thigh) that may be of interest to track.

Would love to be able to store body measurement data in fitbit (not JUST waist). Fitbit had a page for it before, and I loved using it to store my measurements and see the data together. Please bring that feature back, with the ability to add additional custom measurement fields for odd places, like if someone wanted to measure their ankles, neck, fingers, wrist, calves, etc etc etc, whatever it is they would like to keep track of.

Right now I'm using a notebook, but having it all in one place would be very helpful to visualize overall progress and health. (More graphs! Woo!)

Yes! I think it should be different body measurements. This would be a great add. Some people lose inches before the weight even starts to move downwards.
