Add custom notes to Sleep Log or Rate Sleep

In order to effectively use the sleep log to improve sleep quality, I think it might be helpful to be able to annotate each log entry with comments about things that might affect sleep quality (eg alcohol consumption, use of sleeping tablet, late caffeine intake, late exercise, meditation/ relaxation, consumption of unusual foods etc). Then, on review of several weeks/ months of sleep logs, patterns may become evident.

Truth be told, I wouldn’t even be aware of this feature if it wasn’t for FitBit competitor apps. It really does suck to purchase (Charge 3 & Inspire HR) such a popular and well known product only to discover you consistently have to amend its capabilities with other apps in order to truly track what you assumed it already did with one of its intended purposes! For those serious about sleep tracking, in order to track and make every attempt to improve sleep, the ability to add our own personal note similar to those mentioned as well as whether we ate dinner late, had a stressful day, consumed sweets or caffeine a few hours before bed, and others, would allow the ability to more realistically and accurately track not just sleep but that which affects or does not affect ,our sleep to make the very real and proper improvements and adjustments necessary. Incredibly frustrated and disappointed.

I definitely agree that tags & notes to sleep is a great idea. Both predefined tags & own written notes to track what works and what not works.

well when I received this bit of info in an email from Fitbit, I lost hope.

People have been requesting this feature for years but for some reason
Fitbit would rather spend their time adding dumb clock face choices.

Although my Fitbit Charge 3 has been a piece of junk since I bought it less than a year ago, it seems to have no problems tracking sleep (the only thing it doesn’t glitch on, so if you are on the fence about getting one, don’t get the charge 3)

Anyway I do love the Fitbit  app and have a few different things that would affect my sleep that I would like to be able to note. That way I can see a pattern taking one medicine vs another (allergies) or if I exercise too close to bedtime, napped etc. please **ahem** this feature

I have the Fitbit Inspire HR and love it.  I applaud the Fitbit company for providing such a useful  and insightful product/website/app.  I like the latest improvements and I look forward to the next innovation.

That said I have one tiny addition that, for me, would improve the overall usefulness of the sleep mode. Might I suggest an option to give each nights sleep summation a title which could double as a notation as to what may have affected that nights rest pattern.

ie:

-grand kids overnight

-knee surgery today

-took a Benadryl

-tent camping

........you get the idea 😊

Then to also be able to search with a keyword.....

Thank you Fitbit!  Keep up the good work!

Please add this Fitbit! Just bought a used charge 2 as a test and am shocked this feature doesn't already exist. Would likely upgrade but sleep tracking is number one feature and this should be it. Just a simple note field on each night is fine.

Notes. We all need notes. Sleep score and other data is not helpful if we cannot track other daily things that contribute.

This was first suggested in 2015? How is this feature not added yet? 😞😭 I just got my Fitbit as a gift and the first time using sleep tracking I noticed the lack of this feature. Would be awesome to add notes and comments to sleep for historical tracking and context. Guess I’ll just start an excel sheet 😒

Fitbit Dev team, if you’re out there, please work your magic and make this feature a reality 🙏

Great, I voted for it.
Though, a personal note editor should be available for all type of record (Log)

FANTASTIC Idea! Please, Please, Please add a "Note" feature to the Sleep Graph (or anywhere on the sleep results). It would be incredibly helpful to be able to add notes like: "I drank a bottle of wine with dinner, and my REM sleep was almost non-existent!" or "I did yoga before going to bed, and my deep sleep improved dramatically over my average."   Please make this a priority!

This would be an excellent addition! I use my fitbit to track sleep quality in order to find patterns over a long period of time. Notes on actual sleep quality (like feeling refreshed) and consumption of alcohol or medication would definitely help to gain insight!

I would love to see a simple multiline text field so I can attach notes to specific days within the app. For example, I'm trying caffeine supplements that are supposed to aid in weight loss by boosting metabolism. It would be cool to see exactly when I started taking them, as well as see how it coincides with weight loss and sleep scores. For extra awesomeness, a page could be added to the app's UI to provide a list view of notes at a glance, consisting of a date on the left, with the text on the right, tapping the item would take you to the regular details of that day, such as heart rate, sleep score, steps taken, etc, as you guys have it now.

Sleep as Android does sleep notes well. I too would like to see that here but this has been solved already, by making it a feature request.

The Fitbit was a gift and I didn't think it would be of any use to me as I was not interested in tracking exercise, still not. However, the sleep feature has been an incredible help and I pay for the premium features to maximize its usefulness. I am now looking to buy a different watch besides fitbit with the sleep function that will allow me to make notes as I am at an impass with the usefulness of the Fitbit watch. In other words it's helped me but any additional help will only be through adding notes to determine what I am doing during the day that may be influencing my sleep. This feature is available in almost all other apps (adding notes) and I am confused as to why it is absent in the Fitbit app. I came to this forum to see if it was going to be added soon to find that it has long been suggested by fitbit users since at least 2015! Sorry, I will have to say goodbye.

There's probably still time for Fitbit to make this simple improvement to the sleep app - ability to add what you've eaten / drank, state of mind, what you've read / watched etc. - that could genuinely transform understanding of what contributes to good sleep and bad.

But - with more and more people recognising that Fitbit clearly aren't going to deliver this feature, pretty soon there just won't be enough users to make it statistically viable. Ironic that Fitbit are fast asleep on this one 😴

Would like to see a way to log more information in sleep tab, specifically regarding drinks/meds before bed, how the time before sleep was spent (reading, tv, video games, dog walk, etc) and maybe some way to describe/log how I feel after sleeping.

Hi,

I don't yet own a FitBit. I wanted to buy one but I found out it doesn't have this feature that all other Sleep Apps have, so I'm not going to buy a FitBit until they add it to the sleep tracker. Until then I am using SleepCycle app which has the notes (like you can click "Alcohol" or "Ate Late")/wake mood recording with its premium version. If i'm going to pay for a tracker I at least want this feature. It's very important.
