Afternoon Naps Should Impact Readiness Score and Cardio Target

I'd like afternoon naps to be included in Readiness Score and Cardio Target calculations. Currently, only nighttime sleep counts toward recovery metrics. Since Fitbit already tracks naps in sleep data, incorporating them would give a complete picture of daily rest and better reflect actual recovery status for training recommendations.

I like this idea, but could be tricky. You need an average of 1.5 hours for a sleep cycle. So unless you are napping a long time, it wouldn't actually help readiness. In fact, my pulmonologist told me to stop naps, as it is negatively impacting my energy/motivation. I have baaaaad sleep apnea, so that advice isnt for everyone. However the sleep cycle still remains an issue with naps

I completely understand your point about sleep cycles—that's a valid consideration. However, I think Fitbit could handle this intelligently. Not all naps need to contribute equally; the algorithm could recognize substantial naps (say, 45+ minutes) as partial recovery contributors rather than full sleep cycle equivalents.

This is my situation: I have a newborn, and nighttime sleep is frequently interrupted. I compensate with afternoon naps, and they genuinely help my recovery. Similarly, shift workers who sleep during the day face the same issue—their recovery is real, but Fitbit doesn't capture it.

Maybe the solution isn't including all naps, but allowing users to flag significant ones or having Fitbit automatically weight longer naps as recovery indicators. It wouldn't need to treat them identically to nighttime sleep, just acknowledge them meaningful
