Airplane mode for Charge 3

Hi, I'd really like to buy the charge 3 when it comes out probably around september, but only if it has the option of airplane mode, or an option to turn Bluetooth off (no exposure to radiation), I know its less than the fcc regulation etc, but youtube videos show it much more than we expect, anyways there is also restriced areas that don't allow bluethoot on, so an airplane mode would be really usefull.
If it's easy to do I wouln't understand why not do it, garmin has it but the reason I dont want the garmin is beacause the HR monitor is not good.

So hopefully you guys can take it into consideration.

I think lots of people will buy it if this gets added.

@AlexandraFitbit is there a reason that you didn't migrate the 913 votes for this same suggestion that's been closed? It has 407 comments and Status not currently planned. That's pretty deceptive because when you look at this one it only has 15 votes which indicates it has a low interest, which is completely inaccurate. All those votes should've migrated to this suggestion. Don't ignore something that's important to the customers.

I support aligfire - I've been voting for this change in various guises since I got my fitbit Charge 2. Please listen soon!! And as has been mentioned many times, there are many people who have chosen not to buy a fitbit because 'bluetooth' cannot be turned off... surely adding this feature would be an excellent way to increase your market.

I would love to be able to turn the bluetooth off and on as needed on the Charge 3.  We are not allowed "the usage of any bluetooth capable devises" while at work, which means there is about 9 hours of my day that I am not allowed to wear my Charge 3.  Please create a software update that allows user to turn the bluetooth feature on and off

I support this feature request. Although the level of radiation output by the bluetooth connection is well below the FCC supposedly safe level there hasn't been must research into the long term effects. There is growing concern among scientists that longterm exposure to even low levels of electromagnetic radiation is not as safe as we are led to believe. Certainly more research is required but an off switch for Bluetooth would be a simple fix to alleviate the concerns anyone has about wearing a bluetooth enabled device 24x7. I myself am returning my Fitbit Charge 3 because of the lack of ability to turn bluetooth off.

Please add the feature to turn off the Bluetooth on Fitbit charge 2.

I recently purchased an Alta HR and did not realize that bluetooth is on all the time.  Does not make sense that you cannot turn off until syncing is required.  I no longer use the device, which I really like in allotter ways.

This would be great on my charge 2, I have to leave my watch at home during work as you're not allowed Bluetooth devices on at work, I turn airplane mode on when at work but have to miss out on steps on the fitbit...

I agree that fitbit should give the option to turn off the bluetooth!  In fact, I just bought another brand that gives this ability and I'm very happy with it, though I feel sure that I would have bought another fitbit if this option were available.  In fact, my fitbit (my third one) was still fine, but I changed to another brand for this exact reason.  As people become more and more aware of the dangers of excess radiation, fitbit will lose out if they don't give this option, I feel.

I agree, please add the functionality to turn off bluetooth. While we are exposed to EMR frequently, it's another thing altogether to have it in direct contact with the body. As a long time Fitbit user of multiple devices, I'm not using them anymore until this changes. And why was the prior post about this removed?  https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Ability-to-disable-Bluetooth-in-restricted-areas...

Garmin Vivosmart 4.  I leave the bluetooth off except to sync a couple of times a day.

I have the charge 3 and just turn off automatic syncing from my phone. This works great for me as I don’t have any work restrictions. I originally had a Charge 2-secondhand, that had been damaged and repaired. I believe I was having issues with it due to a fault resulting from the damage, burning sensation etc?? No issues with my current new model.

I just ordered an oura ring because fitbit doesn't have airplane mode. Will look forward to returning to fitbit at a future date when they incorporate airplane mode... hey, it doesn't cost you anything to add it!

Hello

I have the exact same issue with fitbit.. i wanst aware this isnt possible and bought an alta hr two years ago or so. As I discovered that I cant turn off bluetooth I instantly returned the product. Ever since I've checked the website over and over again and still no progress in this implementation

Very sad! I won't buy one until this feature is availible - as soon as it gets added I'll buy:)

I've been using the Garmin VivoActive 3 for months now and I'm pleased with it. The ability to turn Bluetooth off is great and is verifiable using the watch face so you can clearly see when it's on or off.

The watch also helps my golf approach and provides accurate distances as compared to my pals with their specific golf watches. It has its own GPS so doesn't need my phone. I picked mine up for £139, so deals out there to be had!

Tracking weights workouts is the only thing I'm disappointed with, but all in all, I'm happy with my purchase. If Fitbit do decide to enable this feature across their devices I might consider buying, but I'm looking at Apple Watch deals for my wife (has airplane mode) as the lack of an off switch for Bluetooth has turned her away from Fitbit too...

I used to have a flex for a couple of years, then my daughter gave me her charge 2 which was great, until i started reading about the constant radiation (however small) that is being emitted continuously, so gave it away,

I really wanted to stay with Fitbit as all my family are all there but have discovered you can't turn off the bluetooth / wifi so am currently without any activity tracker....(its not so bad lol)...May decide to go with another brand because of this issue unless Fitbit can resolve the problem..and will try to educate the family as well to this hidden danger  .....Other brands have already realized what customer's want.....

Fitbit is currently marketing Versa 2 as a great sleep analyzer, allowing to track different sleep phases etc.

But the most important thing is missing.

This is ability to turn OFF Bluetooth and turn OFF Wi-Fi during sleep on a watch.

Activating Sleep Mode does NOT do it.

Thus, a customer increases sick risks for him/herself and the partner during the night.

This is LIFE-IMPORTANT weak point that is needed to be fixed URGENTLY!!!

Please, raise the priority of this to the highest.

Regards.

Yes a Fitbit with option to turn Airplane mode on is desperately needed.. To temporarily overcome the problem I purchased a secondhand flex tracker, wrapped in kitchen foil and keep in my pocket, it still counts the steps as normal, but now thinking of going to another brand that DO HAVE the option to disable bluetooth / wifi.... Fitbit USED TO BE the brand to go with....

Just wanted to share (if I can, while the moderator has not deleted it for only-he/she-know-why reason), that the moderator has replaced "cancer" risk with "sick" risk in my post about inablity of turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Is this how Fitbit is scared to lose sales? Face the truth, fix the issue and there WILL be sales that you want, there will be respect to Fitbit products! Be true to what's going on! Show some respect to the customers, please. What the heck.

Moderator, please explain why you changed jurijakimuk's comment from "cancer risk" to "sick risk" !!  This is as unacceptable as is the fact that Fitbit does not allow Bluetooth to be turned off!!

You are hearing two primary reasons behind why your customers (and potential customers) want you to add this feature: some cannot where in areas where Bluetooth has to be disabled, and others do not want Bluetooth emitters right next to our bodies.  Both are valid reasons and not adding these features only decrease your customer base.
