I think you should be able to sync with your phone and then upload data at a later date. Let us store data locally so that an internet connection is not required to see current stats.
Wondering if in the future this option would be an option with, examale is this weekend we went camping and did quite some hiking and ny.wife and I were concern that our steps weren't going to sync up due to the Fitbit needing Network connection when the device already has a Bluetooth connection, maybe a temp offline that it detects when no Internet is available but will sync with the application and once the device finds a network to connect to it backs it.up to the server.
I think we need to start posting these comments as Amazon reviews rather than on this site. Fitbit obviously don't care about their customers and never will until it begins to affect their profits. This whole 'feature request' forum is a total waste of time. I don't think they've ever actually addressed a feature that has been recommended. It's just a way to milk us for ideas for their new products. I'd urge everybody to post on Amazon instead, I already did.
I am in the Navy and often times do not have access to the Internet for over 30 days. I would really like to be able to adjust the alarm on my fitbit and download data to my phone/computer between times when I have internet access.
I'm about to go away on an exercise with the military for 2 weeks, and will have no internet or phone connection, so will have no way of synching/checking my data. this is a regular occurence for us guys, so you guys really need to get it sorted. Please do it!
Lack of ability to keep this very personal data out of corporate hands is a deal-breaker for me. I received a Blaze just yesterday; it is being returned this evening because I can't control where my data is stored.
This is a horrible decision on the part of Fitbit.
I think you should be able to sync with your phone and then upload data at a later date where you can store more days offline data into the phone. Let us store data locally so that an internet connection is not required to see current stats.
I agree with bruce_ (and anyone else that said this) - this is a really important feature. Of course all the data should be synced with the cloud when there is access available, but that shouldn't prevent the device from syncing with the phone. I travel extensively and found out pretty quickly that my Blaze will tell the wrong time and not adjust for travel across time zones until I have internet, which is very often not there. Not a lot of point in having a watch that can't tell the time. And can't use the alarms for the same reason.
I actually have a sports watch that was very cheap (€60) that works to sync without internet!
I work on a cruise ship witch means that 6 to 8 months I am living on the sea with almost no acces to internet. You pay a lot of money to use the onboard satelite internet provided by the company. So most of us we dont use it. I want to buy one fitbit blaze but I need an app that can pull out my data while offline. I searched also a third party app compatible with Fitbit products but seems like none supports offline sync. The only app with offline sync I found untill now seems to be Sports Tracker, but it doesn't support Fitbit products, but supports some garmin and polar devices. If I buy a product without an app support, I loose 50% of the product experience. Imagine that we are 1100 crew members onboard a cruise ship, and our company has more than 15 ships. If we think how many cruise lines exists in the present...and that the average crew member age is around 30- 35 years(at leat in my company), we cand do the math and see that there are tens of thousants of people living on the sea . Young people witch do sport...witch are interested in this kind of products, but we all have the same problem : INTERNET CONNECTION! So we need an app to offer this experience in offline mode! Same problem at Fitbit, is also on Garmin connect also on Polar and so on! IF the producers are not willing to offer this, please someone make a third party app that cand do this for all of us! A local database App with the functionality of the dashboard! Can be a suggestion for all developers!
I'm off to Nepal and trekking in the high hills for a couple of weeks. I can charge my Fitbit (solar charging my camera batteries). I would really like to record my trip using my Fitbit HR+ (a great bit of kit in my opinion) but am concerned I will lose data when I over a week out in the wilds. Being able to transfer the data to my iPad, even if just to store rather than view, would be useful. So, I vote for syncing via Bluetooth without an Internet connection too!
For any seagoing personnel or users that travel often and in bizarre places, it should be ideal to sync their device with a phone or a pc, and when they will get online, it could sync with the Fitbit data base.
there are people who I would rather not know my heart is beating. Why should I have to share that I am alive with the rest of the world. The only reason for Fitbits taking my data is to sell it to the highest bidder. At the price of this unit there is no reason why i should not be able to keep everything off line.
During onboard airplane..Time and alarm setting can't change..and arrive another country..fitbit time still shows uncorrect. for time correction ..I have to pay international roaming data...so plz make it possible sync of time and alarm with bluetooth. offline sync information store until online. that could be awesome.
I might be generalizing here but it seems a lot of the people that want this feature Implemented are active duty service members who don't have reliable/continual access to the Internet. One might even say by refusing us their service that they don't care about our service. Thanks FitBit! Kick Rocks Barefoot 🙂
**edit** Best part is my workstation isn't even allowed to vote because lack of java 🙂
I am absolutely flabbergasted that FitBit does not sync without an internet connection. I cannot see how it must have made the sync app development simpler to check for internet connection and prevent tracker to mobile app syncing in the absence of it. It also cannot have been an oversight.
When will Fitbit start being upfront and honest with its customers and either openly put the internet requirement for syncing in its material OR even better get rid of the handicap that is going to drive people away?
I feel the same way. I do not want to have any app on my computer that reports any personal data ANYWHERE! If there is no other option, I will have to delete the app.
It also bothers me that my security software allows this export of data.
