Allow night shift reminders to move (or customized hours)

Please allow night shift hours to be selected for reminders to move. I work 7p to 7a at the hospital and the current feature only allows half of my shift to be selected. It doesn't recognize those 12 hours as consecutive hours. It would also be helpful to select different time frames for different days. I work nights 3 days a week, but the rest of the week I am awake and active during the day. I'd like to customize the reminders for certain hours on specified days.

Would someone please create a way for those of us who work 12 and 16 hour shifts to to set their hourly reminders. It's especially frustrating when you work at night and most of the hours you can set are when you're asleep.

I absolutely agree!! I contacted the help department because I couldn't figure out why it would cover hours over night when there are SOOOO many people who work night shift. I work in the medical field and the hospital I currently work at is promoting using the fitbit and practically giving them away. The staff can earn incentives for reaching step goals but when I am doing multiple nights in a row the only exercise I really get is the stairs into and out of work and walking on the floor (from 7pm-7am).

They "do" read these forums but if you look at other postings it is the ones who have a few thousand votes they pay attention to.  This idea still doesn't even have 200 and some who have already voted tried voting again which reduces rather than increases the vote count.  As we have all pointed out - there are more "day walkers" than night shifters....so talk to anyone/everyone you know and ask them to support you in wanting this feature added by coming to the forums to vote for this idea.  Although it may not benefit them daily - it could benefit them when their schedule is outside of their "norm"

Well said! Yes I noticed the last time I checked to see how voting was
going that we had fewer votes than before! GOT TO GET MORE PEOPLE TO
VOTE, but make sure you tell them to ONLY VOTE ONCE!

Just a suggestion here but I would be awesome if you could just choose how many hours you want to be active in the day instead of having to set an exact time span. It's hard when peoples schedules change but they want to be active so many hours of the day. Just a thought.

I agree with all suggestions to change the setup to allow for 24 hour tracking. Life is lived in 24 hour cycles. Work is only one reason people are moving around after midnight. Movement is life. Change the paradigm in tracking if the real goal is to encourage people to live a more active lifestyle then get us out of the traditional box.

Oh, too bad.  I came to the forum to see HOW to change my Charge 2 for my night shifts.  Discouraged to hear that I CAN'T change it to fit my schedule.  An update would be greatly appreciated!!

It would be. If you want to fiddle every day with it you can make it work for you. C

>From what I understand, you can't go over the midnight hour.

However, I'm thinking of trying to manipulate it by using the INTERVAL setting. Maybe 15 minutes on, 1 hour off for my 12 hour shift...not sure if it will work but I might give it a try. It might be too similar to just setting an alarm, which doesn't work.

I voted for this because I just got the new Charge 2 and it's one of the features I was most looking forward to, which of course was a lunchbag letdown to realize that it was a broken feature for anyone who doesn't go to bed before midnight.

It's something us night owls really shouldn't have to be fighting for, since Fitbit should realize that not everyone lives a daytime schedule, but still expects to be able to use the features they were promised...

For the time being I set my reminders to move until 11pm (which is all I could do) and then set daily alarm reminders for the hours after midnight that I want a reminder. This isn't optimal, but what else can we do?

Optimally, what I'd love to see is the reminders to move to be active for each hour we are awake. If I'm in sleep mode, I don't want a reminder (obviously) but otherwise, a reminder each awake hour would be perfect since I'm a night owl who doesn't keep standard hours.

Hi, MandyJS, I know exactly what you mean. I am the same way. Would love to see this fixed. Soooo frustrating.

How do you actually get reminders?? I just have hours that I can set (2-11pm) but no vibration or reminder..

Only certain devices have the vibrating reminders. My old Charge HR didn't (though it showed up in the app), but my new Charge 2 does. Which kind of tracker do you have? Maybe it's one of the ones that doesn't have the vibrating reminder feature. I'm not sure which have it - I think the Alta has it and the new ones, the Charge 2 and Flex 2. Someone can probably correct me if I'm wrong here 🙂

Thanks Mandy,
I have the original Charger HR.

I just really wish I could set my own hours. It should be open 24 hrs with customizable hours so it won't alert for those with vibration options when they're sleeping.

This seems to be a popular topic, FitBit has asshats has such good customer service in surprised they haven't fixed this.

The Alta has the hourly reminders that you can set.  I posted previously about wanting split times for the night shift workers and still we wait.  The set-up for that STILL is NOT conducive to alternate shift workers.

Not the same suggestion. But thanks. I'm saying I shouldn't have to select an exact time span of being active. I should just be able to choose being active for 7hrs today or choose a specific time span. My active hours are not always 7hrs straight in a row.

Do a search, there is a request I saw for an auto detection of what a users active hours should be.

Having only a time frame of 14 hours doesn't work for shift workers. Need 24 hours time frame, use the sleep function to silence the reminder to move function.

Someone has probably suggested this, but there were too many to read.

If they just changed it to "number of hours you want to get 250 steps" instead of a time interval, this would solve the night shift problem and mine which is different.

I don't work the night shift, but there are hours in the middle of my day I just can't get steps in.  So if I could just say "my goal is to have 10 hours a day with 250 steps", that would work better.  The time interval wouldn't be needed then, it would just basically be "24 hours" and then mine and night shift workers problem would be solved.

Hi, good suggestions but then how would it know when to remind you to get up?  I wanted it because it buzzes when I've been sitting too long.  How would it know that this is the hour not to pester me?

If FitBit would allow us to choose our active hours within ANY 24hr period then there's no problem.
