Allow night shift reminders to move (or customized hours)

Please allow night shift hours to be selected for reminders to move. I work 7p to 7a at the hospital and the current feature only allows half of my shift to be selected. It doesn't recognize those 12 hours as consecutive hours. It would also be helpful to select different time frames for different days. I work nights 3 days a week, but the rest of the week I am awake and active during the day. I'd like to customize the reminders for certain hours on specified days.

@Cripavenger Well, not exactly. Some people have even more undefined "shifts".  For instance, if you're a student, you might have classes from 8-11 and then later from 5-7, so there's no way you can get can get steps in those hours.  Additionally, that might be your Monday schedule and Tuesday might be different.

It really needs to be something like "how many hours do you want to hit 250", and @HeySink then it either needs to recognize when you're sleeping (which technically it does) and not alert you during those hours or maybe set an interval of time where you can/cannot be alerted.  But it would be better if it just recognized when you were sleeping and not alert you because some people don't always sleep in the same time frame (e.g. night shift workers).

Even working backwords would work I think. I'd love it if it was set to remind you all 24 hours by default, (so long as it recognises when you are asleep, so it doesn't alert you during sleeping hours) and then you can set any "quiet" hours when you don't want to be disturbed.

I have an easier version of the Charge HR. I don't get alerts. I just want to be able to set my hours. Even if I had to change them for different days. Restricting me and others to 11pm is really unfair to those of us who don't have conventional lives/jobs.

Absolutely need the 250 steps per hour to span midnight. I also work nights and have to change the settings while I'm at work to caputure 6pm-midnight then from midnight to 8am 250 steps/hr. 14 consecutive hours should be anything we choose. Seems like an easy fix!

Yes. Please take note of us 3rd shifters and allow us to use reminders to move overnight

As everyone else has mentioned, I would love the option to set move reminders while I'm working overnights.

It would be great if it was programable for 24 hours, for those of us who work night shift.  We don't get the same benefits out of the product as someone who works day shift.

Please please pleae fix this.  Night shift is already harder on our bodies and it would be great to use the product to its fullest !

Wooooo Hoooo....we broke 200!!!!  Just as a reminder - if we really want to see this happen:

1.  Don't double vote.  If you have already voted and vote again, it subtracts from the overall Vote count.

2.  Suggestions like this are driven by numbers.  There are other Threads "out there" with suggestions in that are in the 1000's.  These are the numbers that get the attention.  Encourage anyone and everyone you know to come vote.  Even if they are not a "Night Walker" let them know how this affects you and ask them to show you support by coming to Vote for this suggestion.

Thanks to everyone for jumping in with comments and Votes....let's keep this ball rolling!!!

I work from 2300-0700, and sleep from 0830 -1730. So my day starts at 1730 everyday and I can't track anything. I currently use a Garmin and they're not making any moves for night shift workers. If fitbit makes these adjustments I'd sure like to buy the surge!

I suggest being able to adjust the 250 number to 500 or 1000 or 100 etc. Will you make this possible in the future. I love this feature but would really like to be able to adjust it.

Currently reminders to move on the blaze devices are setup in such a way that they discriminate against people who do not live and work normal daytime schedules. People who work the night shifts should be able to set a time range for move alerts that spans across midnight, for example 17:00 to 0500, which is currently not allowed.

This is clearly a discriminatory design that blatantly puts nocturnal people at a further disadvantage. When will the oppressive tyranny of the diurnal-archy cease?

I work from 7p to 7a and would love to have movement reminders (don't always need them, but sometimes charting gets away from me and it would be nice to have a reminder to get up and take a second away from what I'm doing). Simply being able to span the time past midnight would solve all the issues that I'm seeing so far. Just simply adding the information to allow the tracker to realize that past midnight goes to the next day.

I would like to be able to set a different schedule each day, with the ability to have non-consecutive hours, for reminders to move.

I work night shift and keep a different schedule on the other half of the week, so the feature is almost useless for me, as it is now.

Another shiftworker here. Would be cool to set up different schedules per week. Just remember shifts roll on different number of weeks. My schedule as an example rolls on five weeks.

An alternative could be to set a goal for consecutive hours or non-consecutive hours but without the timeframe. Dont get that one. Why must my goal be within some hours?

I work at a desk all day, and I wanted to start by making sure I moved every other hour, which the software doesn't allow. Why enforce consecutive hours, minimum number of hours and maximum number of hours at all? Fitbit shouldn't be controlling what we do, but empowering us to help ourselves!

Reminders to move seems like a great idea, yet is seriously held back by the lack of customisation.

 Fitbit -

Can you  please update the 'reminders to move' to start/end anytime we need it to, not only begin/end at midnight?

I wake @ 4pm and go to sleep at 8am since I work overnight 12 hour shifts and it would be helpful if I could set the reminders during my actual awake time instead of only part of the timeframe.

It would also be nice to set for a variety of times, based on the day of the week since my weekend awake times fluxuate.

Thank you,

I am a night shift worker who sits at a desk all night, for 12 hours at a time.  I want to set my reminders to move every hour, even if just to get up and walk around the room, but the charge 2 doesn't allow overnight reminders.

I work a 4 day work week, so being able to set reminders for 4 days, then a different set or reminders for 3 days would be ideal.  I am sure many people would like different reminders for different days.

I think it is a great idea to hourly reminders, but why not for a night shift worker?  This can't be a difficult thing to do to help everyone out that uses a fitbit.  It seems like a simple solution to keep users happy, so they don't go to another product.

Allow users to customize from pm to am. I work nights and I would like to be able to use a range from 6pm to 6 am.

I completely agree with this suggestion.  My shift work is 6pm to 6am.  I can't set any goals to reflect my schedule.  The fitbit app needs to be fully open to times and schedules so everyone can utilize all the features.

+1 for not enforcing consecutive hours on 'reminder to move'

+1 for different 'reminder to move' hours for different days

Oh, I'm using Blaze btw, not Charge 2. This subject should be titled to apply to all devices that support 'reminder to move'.

Thanks!

I just got one of these and this is one of the features I was looking for. Since this and sleep are the two most important features for me, this might be rather useless for me. Is there an ETA as to when this feature might be enabled for people with non-traditional sleep schedules?

If not, I may return my device before the return period expires.

Thanks,

I'm in the same boat.  This feature would not take much work at all, please enable us to set Reminders to Move during a night shift schedule!!!  O

Stepping Up

Dear fitbit,

I received a Flex 2 for my birthday, my first fitbit product.  Working my engineering job on night shift at Ford Motor Company, I simply went in to adjust my activity hours to match, 8:00 PM  to 9:00 AM.  My requirements are to reset the activity at 12:00 PM, not 12:00 AM!   Looking on your forum, it appears you consider this a new feature and I cannot change the active and sleep hours? Why, after how long you have been producing the fitbit products, do you ignore the needs of the millions of people on alternate or night shifts?   People have been telling you about this for years.  Please provide an update by year end to adjust active hours on my Flex 2!

Update 2/28/2017: I plan to give away my Flex 2 and start researching a competitive product that can accommodate my night shift active hours.  Sad - I really enjoyed this product.

Thank you,

DLS

I work Graveyard shift from 8PM to 6:30AM Sunday night through wednesday and I cant set move reminders to go from 3PM to 6:30AM which is when I up awake and moving. Please update the software to allow us to choose what time frame we want, and allow it to cross over midnight. Not everyone who wants to be fit works a normal day shift. Thanks

I work the overnight shift at a fairly sedentary job. I would love to be able to set up my reminders from 8pm to 7am.
