Barcode Scanning for International Food Databases

At the moment, logging food via barcode scanning is only supported for the US food database. I would like the option of food scanning for international food databases as well with nutrition facts.

Thanks AttilaN...I will, hope everyone else that wants bar code scanning will too!!! It's just plain wrong that Fitbit have only done it for people in the USA...

Please update Canadian Barcode Database....I'm shocked at how many common place barcodes  don't scan. When I scan the item it typically say "Not found. Want to help out

We can add this item to our database with a few simple photos"......but has no option to take a photo to send to a database????? Other than scan another barcode.  Please fix this....it's very annoying and really the only negative thing I have to say about the app/product.

This is my third disappointment with fitbit functionality, I have had my fitbit less than a week. Can't believe I can't add to a UK database how difficult can it be to implement this. Back to MFP then, seriously considering returning my fitbit blaze 😡

Dear Everyone,

I realised that I can synchronize Fitbit with Myfitnesspal, where the food database is very extended! You can write your food diary there, it will also consider your activity based on Fitbit. I think it is a good solution, why should Fitbit build up something that already exist?

Ok, its an other app, but coproduction is a nice thing 🙂

They advertise the app as being able to log your food. It can only do this in the USA. Why should we have to rely on another app to get the functionality they advertise which they provide to just one country?

Plenty have offered to help populate the database but once again this is only available in the USA.

I've contacted fitbit about this and just get fobbed off. They say it's not a popular enough request. Bo***cks it isn't.

Then i could have bought another device. I bought the fitbit because it had
all the functionality with the device I wanted. I used to use the MFP app
before

Join and share the 'Disappointed with Fitbit' group on Facebook.
This is the only rational choice we have.

This needs to be added as it would prevent duplicates on the food database.

It's been almost 2 years since this was brought up. When can the UK start uploading barcode scans, almost everything I scan does not exist in the database! For such an expensive fitness device your international customers are getting screwed by a half finished, feature missing, inaccurate product.

2 years and still can't scan in food. Really flipping the bird at non-US customers Smiley Mad

The group was created several months ago, but nobody from here tried to
join it. I don't understand why.
Look for it, join it!

I wish I knew about this glaring lack of support from fitbit before buying it.

Please let us add to the data base. There is so much not on there. Would be great to be able to have an accurate picture of what I'm eating. Please sort it out fitbit!

Absolute lack of support from fitbit.

Every single post seems to be ignored about the barcode issues.

Fitbit will take our money but wont implement the most basic of things to help us use the app efficiently.

Why not just open it jo for every country and let us users gather data for you?

I live in Saudi Arabia food is imported here from all over the world not to mention local produce. I would happily submit barcodes, pictures and nutrition information to increase selections available in the database. Really frustrating this is not an option.

I love my fitbit but I find it very annoying that I can not add foods to the data base in Cabana. I track all my food and the data base doesn't cover many foods and it would grow so quickly is we were able to add foods. please open up the ability to add foods to the data base for people in Canada! please :)!!

This feature still isn't available in Australia?! Seriously, if it's available in America then the necessary software already exists, and your customers would be doing all the work of adding products, why Wouldn't you make it available?!

I took this up with trading standards etc.  Fitbit's solution was to remove the barcode scanner claim from the product section of the UK website.  When I raised it again, it was noted that the claim had been removed, but not from the app page.

So I guess if you watch the UK pages you will see the claim will go missing from there too.

Long and short of it is that Fitbit are liars, cheats and frauds, and they have no intention of including this functionality outside of the US!  Wish made this more public in the press or something when I first discovered it.

I will never buy another, I wouldn't recommend it, in fact I would actively discourage anyone from buying any Fitbit product!

Depends. The Charge HR which is where this started for me is old and doesn't mention it any longer. If the current products are still saying it's a feature and it isn't then yes it's an option.

I don't want to add yet another app to my phone just to scan barcodes when Fitbit originally stated they offer this in the UK and the barcode scanner still appears on the app. I am happy with my Fitbit otherwise but I agree with others that the same service should be available to all users (or at least a clear progression towards making it available everywhere that users can check). Disappointed that I am getting 90% of the service when I expected and paid for 100%.

I've given up. Not a single bit of customer service from Fitbit.

Have now taken my business to Garmin.
