At the moment, logging food via barcode scanning is only supported for the US food database. I would like the option of food scanning for international food databases as well with nutrition facts.
Actually they did something: they removed my post when I wrote in a bit more aggresive style 🙂
I don't understand you all. Nobody have joined the Facebook group I created, to have a place where you can express your feelings freely and by doing so, you could inform potential buyers of things like customer support at FitBit, or missing functions for non-US citizens, etc. Why? Disappointed with Fitbit? Join the disappointed with fitbit group on Facebook!
Hi. I looked for it in Fitbit boards, I thought that you meant it was on there, as you hadn't said Facebook. No worries. I'll look on Facebook shortly, join and post comments 🙂
I cant understand how something as advanced as the fitbit cannot give us the food scanning option in the UK. Fitnesspal.com can do it, why can't fitbit ?
Basically because Fitbit can't be bothered to implement it.
Like they can't be bothered to implement something that allows the Charge HR etc to work correctly when cycling.
Or can't provide provide functionality where 3rd party apps that can record cycling details via GPS etc can upload to Fitbit and the heart rate etc be overlayed.
Basically Fitbit are rubbish, if it wasn't for the fact this was a present I would get rid of it and replace it with another device as there are plenty more out there for similar price with better functionality.

We are now into 2017 and still my version of the FitBit app on Android doesn't allow me to add new barcodes. Could the guys at FitBit please let us know what if anything is happening about this as it's now over two years since the original request was added and there seems to be a lot of support for this functionality.
I have got to add my vote and voice to this thread, The fitbit is sold and hugely used in New Zealand, but not only can we not scan any barcodes, but we do not even have a food database. There are many foods we share with the us, uk and australia, surley a database of barcodes can be linked to each country database, you should not need single barcode databases for each country
]
C'mon fitbit, Kiwi's need to be counted, we have a massive section of the countrys population, that run, Tramp anmd exercise, we need to be able to log local foods
I do not understand how this has to be voted on. Should be a no brainer, of course the rest of the non-US world also wants to add food by barcode scanning. I am really dissappointed this thred is from 2015 and nothing has happened!
Unfortunately many of us are trying to get the bar code scanning for international users escalated by the FitBit Moderators, but they're either not interested or have no power to make decisions. There's also the fact that you can't add a decimal point if you try to add the food values manually...and if you tell them they just ask you to send them a picture of it. Most of us have decided that when our Fitbit gives out we'll be moving on to a company that doesn't use false advertising to sell its products and get a product that actually does everything it's supposed to!
Disappointing that this basic feature has not been added when the thread has been going for 2 years. At the very least the app should be changed so that it doesn't say we can take further photos to add products when we're using the international database.
Unfortunately barcode scanning will never be properly rolled out to any country other than USA.
Fitbit are steadfastly ignoring this issue. This thread is more than 2 years old. Attempts to contact them in other ways are met with silence or being told to post on this thread.
It is essential to get a barcode scanner for the UK market to make this a worthwhile app. I have had my forgot for 1 day and already frustrated at the lack of scanning ability
2 years, several models, numerous threads, Facebook pages... still no reply or change.
They have removed the reference from their UK literature and pages because I got trading standard on the job.
Fitbit simply have no intention of providing this functionality.
Either use a 3rd party app for recording bit and make do with the poor write back to Fitbit app, or if it exists use a third party app for everything and simply use your Fitbit account to get step count, heart rate etc into that app.
Or vote with your feet and move to a different monitor entirely.
I really dont understand why they dont at least address it. Explain why not..work arounds etc...the customer service / support dept must not exist at fitbit.

Hi, you are correct, it doesn't exist. I and many others have tried again and again, Fitbit are not interested in its customers. When this band fails, I will never but Fitbit again. I now know at least 20 people in my home town ( which is small) that feel the same way. God I miss Jawbone!
