Blood pressure Fitbit device with historical tracking

It would be great if Fitbit either created a blood pressure monitor and a glucose monitor that would sync with the dashboard or if they would team up with another company (Omron, diabetic community app) to have their product sync with the dashboard instead of having to manually enter it.

Me too. I have a 3 year-old Ionic. They tell me that the present sensor in
the Fitbit is "unfit" for taking BP. I would love it if some brilliant
engineer out there would design a compression wrist band for the Fitbit or
even a compression ring (for a finger) that would measure BP & Blood O2%.
Best wishes,
P

There is a third party that makes a true BP strap for the apple watch.

It requires a computer chip, pressure sensor, valves, and an air pump. All built into the band.

No fotbit has the ability to truly measure BP

Then it would have to be linked to the Fitbit via Bluetooth and the Fitbit
app expanded.

I would love to se Fitbit have a product with blood pressure monitoring

It's on my wish list also. Now we need to find someone who actually has the
authority to make it happen. That would be awesome.

I agree - I am surprised that it hasn’t been done considering how awesome FitBit is with other features.

It probably means redesigning both hardware & software. That may cost $.

Also, they might be wary of potential lawsuits around medical use of any
device not constructed for that purpose. I guess a strong statement not for
medical use might be needed.

I still feel it's worth doing. A wrist cuff as part of the device could be
used. Also I was thinking about miniaturizing the mechanism to fit in a
ring "cuff" that you slip on a finger connected to the watch via
bluetooth.

The possibilities excite me.

I would like to see this on a fitbit tracker.

Love the idea of the ability to track BP. I need somewhere to record BP stats so currently I'm doing it with pen & paper. Would be nice to roll it in to the FitBit app, where the rest of health stats seem to be living. Would be helpful if it got recorded in the Premium Report function.

I would love to have a tracker but knows my glucose levels.

I think if fitbit make a blood pressure monitor they might hide the systolic value behind a paywall due to their business model.

I just purchased a Kore Trak watch. Many of the features don’t work, but this concept is what I wish a FB Charge would become.

Hi @jweakley, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see a blood pressure Fitbit tracker. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

Since 2013/2014 are you kidding?? Why hasn't this feature been added?  Considering how many people in the US have diabetes this feature should have been added LONG ago.

...and t here are many ways it could be done.

Actually @pleighton up 'til a year or 2 ago, their was only one way to take a blood pressure reading, and this way is still the most accurate, that is with a blood pressure cuff.

Fitbit use to have the option to manually add BP readings, but very few users where taking advantage of this.

Rick,

All you have to do is look at the posts in this thread over the last couple
of years to see that the ability to enter blood sugar readings manually, or
automatically from, say Dario, is really needed/wanted.

Same with Blood Pressure. Would it really hurt Fitbit to return it for
those of us who are loyal users and who would find it very helpful! I know
that Fitbit seems geared to the younger among us, but there are a ton of us
older ones who would appreciate having some things for us as well. Blood
pressure and blood sugar would be the most helpful.

I already take my blood sugar every day with Dario. They have an app, so it
could fit with Fitbit just as, say Runkeeper does. Same with blood
pressure. My doctor has me taking it every day with a unit called "Body
Trace." It is furnished by Medicare through him. It transmits the readings
to him every day, so I know could do so as well with Fitbit.

Inasmuch as you are a "Community Legend," you probably have some "pull"
with the company. Again, Fitbit is either neglecting or ignoring a huge
customer base that is being attracted to other brands because of Fitbit's
neglect and the available health features now being offered on other
watches.

Did it really take up space on the dashboard so much that to quote you: "Fitbit
used to have the option to manually add BP readings, but very few users
where taking advantage of this." so it is no longer available. That, to be
frank, is a slap in the face to many of us.

Thanks in advance for your help.

@tbarry27 the feature to manually add BP readings was requested, and at these requests, was added to the dashboard. However after 2 years, it was barely used and removed.

The request here is not asking for the option to log BP but for Fitbit to add a device that will read the users BP.

Most want this option added to the tracker. (18 votes per minth) Not a separate unit. Doing so, up to a couple of years ago would require an active watch strap with a built in air pump and air bladder.

As Fitbit's policy is that they get to choose and not every request will be added.

I too have an Omron blood pressure monitor with blue tooth.  I would love my Fitbit to talk to it and to collect the data.

First Fitbit would have to add the option to manually record blood pressure. Then add a link to its API. Then I'm Ron could use this link to sync with Fitbit.

I think for blood pressure I am going to use weight and body fat percentage to track blood pressure. Weight doesn't matter to me since my bmi is normal. Weight is easy to measure BP takes more time.

So I under Weight I enter my Systolic pressure,
Under Body fat I key in my  Diastolic pressure

So long as your Diastolic doesn't goes about 100 it should work. It also helps to add nonsensical data to the data Fitbit is secretly collecting about us.

I was looking at Garmin watches, they don't even have a paywall for all the information and data they provide unlike Fitbit.
Now samsung watches seems to be able to even measure blood pressure now. https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-announces-blood-pressure-monitoring-application-for-galaxy-w...

Hi,

To clarify. I would like a Fitbit device that will perform a blood pressure test on my wrist.

Some devices claiming to be wrist worn blood pressure machines have been available for a while now. One of my friends had one that is about the size of the average smart watch over two years ago.

I appreciate they may not be very accurate and Fitbit may not want to put their name to an imperfect device but I assume accuracy is something that will improve over time so as soon as they become acceptable as a guide measure I think Fitbit should include the function.

I am surprised that level accuracy has not been achieved already.

The ability to record a blood pressure reading taken on a full blood pressure machine is trivial.

Regards,

Andy
