Body Battery (Heart Rate Variability, Stress, and Activity)

Please add a Body Battery feature like the one on Garmin. Just license it like they do. Measuring stress an energy levels is more important than Active Minutes if you ask me. Cool to get in shape for sure, but actually staying healthy is sooo awesome.

I have owned a Garmin tracker, which tracked Body Battery. The Oura Ring, which I have not used, tracks something they call Readiness Score. Both of those metrics use your sleep data, HRV, and more, to give you a clue about your readiness to work out hard, or not. I found this very useful, when I used the Garmin. I now have a Fitbit Versa 3, which I mostly love, but it provides reams of data with very little explanation. They tell you HOW they calculate things, but not how you should interpret or USE the data. I strongly suggest Fitbit add something like the readiness score/body battery metric to their watches! Existing data that the devices collect could be used; all it takes is a decent algorithm to analyze the data for the user. See this for a review of the Oura Ring readiness score by a scientist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6u9vGYo-tPA

I support the comment above about the importance of including Body Battery. I am considering to switch to Garmin because of this. Fingered crossed 🤞

+ 1. I have versa 2 and just realized now Fitbit can track HRV. It's a nice added feature, but still feel a bit behind. It's good to know how those data are captured and calculated, but it's more important to see how those data can be applied to monitor your personal health (in this case, 'body battery' makes so much more sense than just reporting HRV data...)

I would love to have this feature. Garmin has it. It would help getting in shape, active and being healthy in this odd times.

Hi @Lusiaczek, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see Body Battery option on the Fitbit app. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

Hello Fitbit, I too support the request to bring on the "body battery" feature to Fitbit. My friend who has Garmin finds it very useful to find how his day has been and to plan for long runs or activities. Please provide this feature soon. Now that you are merged with google, you can make this feature better than what Garmin provides. thanks

I also support this feature because it sounds like a cool feature. I saw in the app store there was an app called Rise:Energy tracker and it pulls health data from fitbit. Only problem is that it requires a subscription. It would be cool to have this sort of functionality that told me my energy schedule and how much energy I have during the day.

As a previously very active person and now a long covid/ cfs sufferer I am really disappointed that the sense doesn’t have a body battery feature like the Garmin. When I bought my sense 6mths ago I couldn’t decide between Garmin or Fitbit and as a long time Fitbit user I went with the Fitbit sense.... I’d now consider selling my Fitbit sense to get the Garmin as it meets my needs more than the Fitbit.

I too want the body battery! Love fitbit, but the only thing that makes me consider another watch next time, is the body battery. Do we know anything more about this yet? Will fitbit do it?

Mkristine First Steps: I haven't heard anything really new about the Fitbit features since the Google buy out. I don't have any confidence that Fitbit personnel read these comments either. Perhaps starting a new thread about Body Battery is needed?

I'm considering switching to a Garmin just for this reason. Bubbling up all this sensor data into actionable items. At times I am interested in specific sensor data: steps for a Steps Challenge, heart during sprints, ....   but most of the time I rather an application Reduce the data to actionable information for me. As I understand it Body Battery informs me how my activity and recovery are balancing out. From there I can see this being further Reduced to
"4/5 good job"
"3/5 try getting in bed earlier tonight" (sensor data shows I'm staying up late)

"1/5 take the day off to recover" (sensor data shows i am stressed out, poor sleep, intense exercises, etc)

@jet9153

Yes, that’s exactly what Garmin’s Body Battery feature does: It has an algorithm that considers several data types (sleep, HR, HRV, etc) to calculate a score. That score helps you decide your readiness for a workout, for example. The Oura ring provides a similar thing called a Readiness Score. I do think Fitbit will add this at some point. It just makes sense.

I absolutely agree. I would love to see the body battery feature applied to fitbit devices. I know 3 people which switched to Garmin because of this and it is a shame as it was literally the only reason they moved away. I hope fitbit remedies this as soon as they can.

Longtime Fitbit user here. My husband just bought a Garmin instead of a Fitbit because of the Body Battery feature.  I like my Fitbit but I’m seriously considering switching to the Garmin after seeing his in action. Can we get this feature please?

Wasting your time - I've already gone to garmin because of it and their

I’m also considering garmin or fitbit. If fitbit had The body Battery my choise would be easy. I hope fitbit is getting it soon, other wise i also have to take the Garmin 😔

@TessaRutten: I think Fitbit added a feature they call Readiness score to the new Fitbit Charge 5. I don’t know how close to Body Battery it is though.

I have a Garmin right now and am enjoying the body battery, however I think it is BS and doesn't determine how I really feel.  I had a great nights sleep on Friday but it didn't increase my battery very much.  Then I went for a run and my battery was nearly out, but I had more than enough energy to last through the day.  While it's a great idea in theory, it's kind of like the Fitbit sleep score in that a watch can only tell you so much about how YOU feel.

I am a COVID Long Hauler, and actively managing my energy levels throughout the day is critical to my recovery.

I’ve trialed the Fitbit Sense and Garmin Vivofit.  While the HR monitor seems to be more accurate on the Sense, it is missing this critical ‘Body Battery’ feature.

I will be returning it if this feature is not added, or a similar app is not developed for this.

Fitbit added a feature similar to Body Battery on their newest device, the Charge 5. I’m hoping that they’ll add it to other existing devices as an update (will likely be a Premium thing).

This "exists" as a Daily Readiness Score. According to this article from Fitbit, it already exists on multiple watches.  How do I access it?

Which Fitbit products work with Daily Readiness Score?

Available for Fitbit Premium members using Sense, Versa 3, Versa 2, Charge 5, Luxe or Inspire 2.
