CIBC banking (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce)

Hello: I really want to buy the Fitbit ionic, I think it's great. I already have the Fitbit flex 2.

I won't buy the Ionic tho, until you've partnered with CIBC, I bank wIth CIBC, and once I can link and use my bank card with the Ionic, please let me know and I will head out to buy it 🙂

Hello Everbs.

Yes it is ridiculous. This thread started on 09 17 2917. I first
commented on 08 18 2018. It is now 11 03 2020. There has been no movement
and no additions. I was a loyal repeat purchaser; I no longer recommend
Fitbit. I have friends in the UK and they have experienced the same thing.

I wish cibc was added on Fitbit pay, there’s Fitbit pay advertised but barley any banks available for Canada. It feels kind of grimy to advertise something and have 3(?) options.

Hi @Snoopsmoop  you can help move things along by talking to your bank branch manager and tell them you want them to work with Fitbit to offer this service. Fitbit can only do this if banks agree to join with them.

As @Odyssey13 points out, Fitbit has everything in place for the banks. It is now up to the banks to add Fitbit pay.

The process is no different for Samsung Pay, Google Pay, Garmin, or Apple Pay

Hi @Snoopsmoop, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see CIBC banking (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce) on Fitbit Pay. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

Please also add BMO and Capital One. Was so disappointed today when I went to activate my new Charge 4 wallet and my credit cards were not included. Feels like false advertising!

@jedimidwife it is not false advertising, Fitbit has setup Fitbit pay, and Fitbit pay can be added by any bank, however, just like Apple pay, Samsung Pay, and Google pay, it is up to the bank to add the different virtual cards. Please reach out to your bank.

I bought a Charge 4 to replace my Charge 3 with a display that had become so dim I could barely read it. The one new feature I was looking forward to was Fitbit Pay but none of my numerous credit cards will work.  I would really like to see CIBC MasterCard set up.  Why the delay?

Threads over 2 years old, likely this is just barking up the wrong tree by now. It's a shame that Canada get's swept under the rug when you clearly have a fairly large market being ignored here.

You are right @BMcLeod89 this always has been the wrong tree. Fitbit has everything setup, it is now up to the individual banks to decide.

It is now up to the banks customers to petition their bank.

That's just a cop out for poor inter corp relationships. If you're
expecting your customers to put the leg work in then you're already losing.

I don't understand.

Fitbit has done everything they can do. Aside from getting a list of every bank in the world and personally asking each one to go into their banks computer and add Fitbit pay.

If the bank has added Apple or Google Pay, they already no how to add Fitbit pay.

Some customers have asked their banks and got response of, we are thinking about this. While other banks who do have Google pay simply say that we are not interested.

As for Fitbit pay, the final decision is made by the bank. Not Fitbit. Not a copout but just what it is.

This is why Garmin incourages their users to talk to their banks.

I already sent emails to Simply financial (CIBC) and Tangerine. You should
all do the same. The more pressure they get the more likely their IT team
will get tasked with setting it up.

Cheers!

I like the features but if there is no pay support for CIBC.. I will return it to bestbuy.. Apple watch it is..more expensive but at least works

@AhmedK as mentioned above, you will need to take this up with CIBC, Fitbit has everything setup. Like with Apple Pay, it is now up to the bank to add Fitbit pay.

Some users have been flatly told by their bank that they are not interested. While other users have been told that they are looking into Fitbit pay.

In any case, it is in CIBC'S hand.

Maybe Google will add support for Google Pay on these devices one day,
instead of relying on Fitbit Pay

First Google will need to get permission to purchase Fitbit.

Google bought Fitbit in November 2019.

@creeperboss900 check your sources. They only offered to purchase Fitbit.

It still needs to be approved by several governments.

i have always used CIBC since i was a child. it is the only bank I do business with. would be amazing to be able to actually use my cards from them.

@PurplePixieBard your barking up the wrong tree. It is the banks responsibility to add Fitbit pay. Fitbit already has provided everything the bank needs to hook into, it is now up to the bank. Why not reach out to your bank and let them know. The more users who do, the better chance that the bank may respond.

I am unable to use the wallet option on my versa 2 as my bank is not listed CIBC
