CIBC banking (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce)

Hello: I really want to buy the Fitbit ionic, I think it's great. I already have the Fitbit flex 2.

I won't buy the Ionic tho, until you've partnered with CIBC, I bank wIth CIBC, and once I can link and use my bank card with the Ionic, please let me know and I will head out to buy it 🙂

Hasn't been available for a long time. Like you I bought my watch with this
feature in mind as advertised on the signs in the store. I got on this
site and was told to keep coming back as they are adding new banks all the
time. That was a few years ago now and they have never added one. The
customer once the watch is purchased is not their priority. The sad thing
is I am a long term, loyal fitbit user.

I'm voting for all major banking institutions in Canada, Scotia, TD, Royal, CIBC...etc.

don't hold your breath, this was one of the reasons I bought my 5th fitbit the Ionic, but am moving to samsung, we're too small a market for them, they haven't even bothered to respond to peoples inquiries.

@jhubbard don't get too excited, I came from a Samsung Galaxy Watch to a Versa 2 (backwards I know, but I actually like the Versa 2 more as a simple watch for notifications - when I worked). Anyway Samsung Pay didn't support CIBC or any of my other stuff either.

Hopefully Fitbit pay gets replaced with Google Pay soon.

The reason why there isnt much banks in Fitbit pay is because it is up to the bank to support Fitbit Pay, and we have to wait for them to want to support it then Fitbit can add it

Has FitBit approached the banks? There are only 4 or 5 major banks
in Canada. They said yes to the iwatch and to androids.

CIBC has no plans to add themselves to Fitbit pay.  As per a tweet from the official CIBC account :

”Hi Tracey! While we currently don't have a timeline to implement Fitbit Pay, your comments are valuable to us as we monitor customer demand and evaluate feasibility of various enhancements to our service. I will share your comments with the appropriate team for review.”

So if you’re a CIBC customer, don’t hold your breath on this being implemented any time soon

I see from the comments that people have been asking since 2018 for Fitbit to support CIBC banking. I would really like to see you move on this. How much more time will people have to wait? Please consider adding CIBC among the banks that you support on your devices. Why wait?

I’ve just bought an Apple Watch as its quite obvious fitbit aren’t going to
add the major uk banks. Or add real time swimming lengths so bye bye fitbit

I recently bought a Fitbit Ionic over the Apple Watch because I trust Fitbit but I was truly let down on their first attempt at a smart watch, it’s good for the basics and I thought I would be excited cause of Fitbit Pay but have been extremely let down as only 2 banks support it in Canada...why is that?

Hi @500daysofjay, good suggestion, thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request. You can also check this other suggestions, post a comment or click on the thumbs-up to show your support.

See you around.

I would also like to see CIBC added as this is a very large bank within Canada that many of us use and as such we can't use the fitbit pay features 😞

Fit bit doesn’t care. A bit of misleading advertisement.

Totally misleading and false advertising, but reality is we are a small market and you're right, they really don't care

It's up to the bank more than Fitbit. And CIBC says they have no plans to add support for Fitbit Pay when I contacted them about a month ago.

Im very upset i bought my Fitbit 4. First off had a awful time with set up bc of blank screen i finally fixed it with 3 screaming children. Now find out cibc is not accepted.. one reason i got it was bc if the wrist pay im im very disappointed. Thinking of returning  it...

I think this is one of the biggest reasons for me to not buy the fitbit. I want to be able to use any of my cards. This will eliminate the need for carrying a wallet.

I am also with CIBC (and have been since I was 10) and was disheartened to see that CIBC wasn't supported with Fitbit Pay after just getting the Versa 2 model. Please add it to the supported list of banks 🙂

I love your product range by the way! Keep up the good work 🙂

The only Canadian bank that I recognize is RBC. That makes the amount of people very limited that can use Fitbit Pay here. The other MAJOR banks here are CIBC, TD, BMO, Scotiabank. I use BMO but I acknowledge that these banks should be the bare minimum that Fitbit Pay supports.

Please add CIBC!

I don't mean to be negative, but...

This is ridiculous. The fact that it has been well over 2 years, and nothing has been done makes me want to switch to an alternative watch more and more. I love the Versa 2, but neglecting to add more MAJOR Canadian banks is unacceptable for a company that wants to compete with the more expensive smart watches.

I wonder how long this thread will get until something is done!
