Call Notification Should Vibrate Like Alarm

When receiving a call the vibration should continue for the duration of the alert ("ringing") on your phone, with the option to "silence" the notification by pressing the button, like the silent alarm function.  In its current state, it's way too easy to miss an incoming call.

It should probably vibrate like a phone rings and continue until the call is answered or sent to VM. That would set it apart from a txt notification or any other notification. The display should also show last notification the next time or two you look at it, so you could see what it was so you can decide your next option. Example "call from Kim" or  "Txt from Bob"

I'm a nurse and if my wrist vibrates while I'm with a patient I WILL be ignoring it, barring severe extenuating circumstances. I'd like to know, when I do look at it, who it was.

Nope. It does not continuos vibrate. It vibrates two times then stops.

I would like to see all the vibrations be longer on blaze. Seems like my other Fitbit had more time on txt also.

A longer notification for phone calls would be excellent! I will be working on call with healthcare and MUST be able to respond to all phone calls. I thought the Alta seemed like a great idea to ensure I don't miss a call, but the notification is so weak it can't be trusted. Please update for this!

I agree the notification for a call on your cell phone should ring on your fitbit as long as the phone rings. 🙂

I often don't hear the phone in my purse but my fitbit lets me know it's ringing, so I would hate to miss that because of only on vibrate. Love the alarm as it keeps vibrating.

Yes, please extend the length of the vibrating notification for calls. I bought the Fitbit Alta for this reason and I use the vibration notification to wake me up at night if I am called by the hospital. Currently, the alarm works great to wake me without disturbing anyone else in the house but the call notification is not long enough to wake me in the middle of the night. If it sounds not fixed asap I will be looking for another watch as this is essential for my job.

I had the same problem but found the mi fit 2 by xiaomi as a great alternative with a really solid vibrate function attached for both text, calls and alarm.

Yeah I just bought a blaze specifically for all the notifications and I'm very dissapointed with the weak and short vibrations for the notifications (txt, calendar, other apps etc) and for the incoming calls. This is a huge issue for me, basically makes one of the key features useless. The reason I wanted them on my wrist is so I noticed them and didn't miss them like I do on my phone which I can't always feel.

I had a cheapo virgin pulse buzz (free through work) and it does 3 or 4 powerful vibrations for every notification and continuous powerful buzzing for incoming calls and I loved it, the idea of expanded notifications for calendar and other apps was a key driver for me buying a blaze. Other than heart rate tracking this was the reason I bought one (missing meetings at work and phone calls / txts from my wife). I really don't want to take it back but this is huge miss. I'm very dissapointed to see that people have been requesting this feature be fixed for 2.5 years and no resolution, what's going on (thread starts in 2014)?

PS.. Bonus points if the user can configure the different notifications to have different vibrations like you can on the iphone. Again, this would just make it even better but I'd love to be able to feel the difference between an e-mail, a calendar notification, and a txt.

I am fed up with Fitbits unwillingness to react to our suggestions. I have purchased a xiaomi mi band 2- it vibrates through the duration of the call. Also has a superior battery, excellent connection with my iPhone and is $30 cdn. I sound like an advertisement but I felt the need to relay my frustration with Fitbit and the solution I found.

So nearly 3 years and still nothing but a short buzz for texts. Time for me to ditch the FitBit for something that actually works.

This is quite obvious, this should be available since the time Charge2 was in the market.

I think it would be super helpful even if there would just be a customisation option for the pattern of a vibration. This should not require a hardware change as the 'celebration' pattern is already different to the 'notification'.  Setting it to have a pattern (e.g. short-short-long) would help I believe. I think this might help many complaining about the lack of strength of the vibration, as a longer, or patterned vibration at current strength would likely be more noticeable. Having the option to allow the vibration to continue until dismissed also sounds like a great idea which should be implementable through updates only... I own the Alta HR; before I had the Sony Smartband talk and would love to see the best of both worlds in a small Fitbit 🙂

I agree I  have a reminder to move once an hour between 5AM and 7PM 7 days a week and I may feel the vibration once or twice a month.  However if I'm awake the alarm is strong enough that I feel it. While it is not intense enough to wake me it is strong enough that if that setting was also used for notifications it would make the otherwise nonexistent notification useful.  I would think that this change would only require the use of the same code that is currently being used for the alarm being used for the notification.  This a fix that would cost Fitbit very little money to implement and would eliminate the one very disappointing feature on an otherwise excellent product the Charge 2

Changed from Alta to Charge 2. VERY disappointed with vibration strength. This needs to be changed as soon as possible as it is useless. Never missed a call, notification or silent alarm with alta. Constantly missing them on Charge 2!

I just bought mine yesterday and was talking to support via twitter because I thought I wasn’t getting notifications. Then I realized they were showing on the screen but the vibrations were so light that I didn’t even know I was getting them. This is my first Fitbit and I’m pretty disappointed. I had a Ringly before and I still like it but I wanted something with a screen where I could see steps and get the move notifications to keep me motivated. The Ringly does a way better job with notifications. I’m going to return it, it’s pretty much the equivalent to any tracker you can find on Amazon at this point.

I have the Fitbit Flex 2. My daughter who is 8 months old sleeps in our room with us for now. I’m on-call half the days of the week and I can get calls any time of the night. I bought the Flex 2 to get some kind of notification via vibration that the phone was ringing. It does it but should be the same amount as the alarms. Having a higher frequency would be great.

Just purchased a charge HR after specifically researching which model had the strongest vibration setting. Like the poster above I’m on call for work so wanted a band primarily to wake me when the phone rings.

I’m amazed to find that the charge gives one single buzz on incoming calls with no way to change it?

sadly looks like I’ll be returning it for a refund as that’s no use at all.

It would be nice if the device vibrated more than once for incoming calls. The one vibration is easy to miss.

Hi everyone, I'm happy to announce that this feature is released for Fitbit Ionic and Versa users. Your Fitbit will vibrate continuously with an incoming phone call. Note that for android users, you will need to be on the latest operating system, Android 8.0 Oreo in order to be able to decline or answer the call from your Fitbit device.  Please also note that this functionality will not be released for any Fitbits prior to Ionic. Thanks for sharing this idea with us.
