Cardio Load Sync with Menstrual cycle

The cardio load suggestion should be able to sync with stage of menstrual cycle for those who are logging via the Fitbit app.

Cardio load does not take into account where a woman is in her cycle. When the intensity of training should reduce when energy is lower, cardio load is suggesting higher intensity of workouts. It then corrects itself based on the lower energy stage meaning when a woman is back to normal energy levels and can push harder, cardio load has reduced.

Oh my goodness, for the sake of little baby chickadees, yes.

This feature is completely broken at least half the time for anyone who menstruates, which is ~25% of the population, but a higher percentage of fitbit users. It is not a niche or special concern.

Resting heart rate fluctuates regularly and predictably with the menstrual cycle. If the algorithm can only compare to last week and not also (or instead) to last cycle, it will be wrong at least half the time.

Don't file this one under "women's health" or "nice to get to if we can get around to it". File it under "urgent", or else admit that the feature is for men only, and accept the push back you get from that.

Edit: You don't even have to actually link up the cycle tracking and the cardio load. You could just work it out so that the algorithm compares both last week *and last cycle*, and that would be a pretty good first approximation of something that actually works. (Ideally this would at least check the menstrual data for your average cycle length, but just doing it based on an average cycle  length would be better than nothing for most people who menstruate. Even just this week last month would be an improvement!)

Yes, the cardio load doesn't make sense to me... Asking me to do reach 260+ cardio load on my periods, so intense and weird. On days where I have intense workout planed my target is 20 to 40... It clearly needs tweaking, I feel like it's misleading and inaccurate.

I'm not sure if the heart rate variability is the same for everyone, but in my experience, my resting heart rate peaks about a week before my period starts.  They're not telling us how the algorithm actually works, but recovery score is supposed to be part of it, and recovery score claims to be lower if your resting heart rate is higher than it was last week.

So, if your resting heart rate peaks a week before your period, I would expect your recovery score to return to "normal" just about exactly when your period actually starts, and therefore your cardio load recommendations should be higher, which is exactly what many of us do not want during our actual periods!

Meanwhile, at the crucial stages of PMS where I want to be more active to stave off symptoms, it's telling me to rest! Ugh!

I love both the period tracking and cardio load features. I think clearly they are not integrated, as fitbit is always telling me I’m under training when really I’m just resting on my period! Would be great to integrate these features, as the cycle heavily influences womens energy levels and training etc.

I have just synced my app this morning and my daily readiness is at 100! I don't think I've ever seen this!

I didn't realise this wasn't aimed at women (after reading the comments) but today it makes sense... I am on day 2 of my period, my energy levels are non existent, I went to bed at 8pm with my toddler and achieved 9hrs 25m sleep (this is a rarity, once a month maybe!)

There's me beating myself up thinking my "readiness" is on point, I've got this 💪🏽 when actually it's the complete opposite and I'm struggling to get up to do basic daily tasks.

I have a been a fit bit user since 2015 and have enjoyed it for all the years. However not this "readiness/cardio load" part, may have to switch this bit off.

Period tracker is great! I wonder if there will be something for perimenopause, that will be interesting!
