Hey guys, this is Erin, the FitBit user that started this forum port many moons ago. I occasionally get an update from the FitBit development team, but the update is essentially ?thanks for your input, we are working on it?.
The entire issue just seems strange to me. First, there are tons of folks out there who still don?t have smartphones and non-smartphone folks are most likely not running Win 8.1/10. So they are completely out of the Challenges. Second, typically (I know this is evolving), the desktop dashboard is the most comprehensive and mobile interfaces are a bit leaner. When the desktop is missing a feature, it just seems like a mistake, right? Third, I have every type of device? a smoking mac, PC, iPad, Android AND I would still really appreciate Challenges on the desktop. That is why I suggested the enhancement. My workaround for my mom until the kindle FitBit app had challenges - my iPad was logged into FitBit as my mom and I accepted Challenges for here there and sent her screenshots. A classic first world PAIN IN THE BUTT 🙂
My wife has a fitbit with an iphone and I liked the features it had and wanted to join in with her group. I purchased a fitbit but I do not have a smartphone and now I find out that the pc does not support challenges so it removes a major feature I was looking forward to.
Which OS do you run on your PC? As I mentioned above, if it's Windows 8.1 (or Windows 10) you can install and run the Fitbit App for Windows and it'll allow you to participate on challenges.
Hmm... How about an iPod touch or a tablet? I know you can get Lumias for as little as $50 at Walmart (no contract). That would run the Fitbit App just fine through wi-fi.
Since I chose to not have one of those fancy phones. I don't get the full benefit of this product. It does say on the box Share and compete with friends for both Mobile and online tools. what a misrepresentation. That is why I got it to motive me with other people.
This morning I was invited to join a private challenge group, but I couldn't because I can only do that via a smart phone app, and I don't have a smart phone. Okay, I know I'm probably one of THE ONLY people in the world who doesn't have a smart phone, but it's frustrating to not be able to participate in things because of it. Is there any way to link App features with the web dashboard?
Please add this! I don't have a smart phone (I know, shocker) but I have been invited to challenges I would like to participate in. It seems that the dashboard should have more features than mobile apps, not the other way around.
I would also LOVE to be able to see ongoing Challenges and be able to modify and create new challenges on the Web UI and even chat in the Web UI like I can on the mobile app!
I know you awesome developers can get this done!!! LEGGO (in my Chris Brown voice 😄 )
Really, thank you for all that you all have done thus far with FitBit. From the devices, to the app to the Web UI....everything is great!! GREATER IS COMING!!! I can feel it!!
Being able to access challenges from the web UI would be fantastic. I've found myself without a smartphone for a couple of weeks - it saddens me that I'm not able to join in the fun.
Please bring back the old Zip dashboard tiles! The new layout means you can only see your daily results in steps OR distance - before, you could have separate tiles for each, and for the number of active minutes per day. The new tiles are much less useful when you're trying to keep track of all your stats. I do hope you'll rethink this and allow users to go back to the old tiles.
It appears that fitbit has abandoned activity-tiles in order to better satisfy small app-space users, not laptop / desktop use. The personal feedback, incentive-value, of specific tiles is a great loss. If this is the case, the many of us who can never afford app-devices will be much less rewarded, with less cause to recommend. An old guy.
What is the point of having challenges if users like me, who don't have a cell phone can't participate? Not everyone has a cell phone, but would still like to challenge, & be challenged, please do add this option for desktops!
I have a Mac and would love to be able to access the challenges from the desktop/dashboard. It is amazing to me that this thread has been going on since 2014 and it is still not incorporated to the dashboard!! Please!!
PLEASE implement this. Whenever something goes wrong with the app, we have no other means of managing challenges. At the very least, it's good to have more than one way to access something like that. It would be cool to see this implemented sometime before the end of time...
It seems that being able to manage the dashboard would be much easier on the developers. The app has so many mor variables in the client side configuration that would not affect the web dashboard.
