Definitely need challenges on the dashboard! I am an older lady and don't have a smart phone so have no way of participating in my friends' challenges. Please, please put them on the dashboard. Thank you!!
I agree with most of the above, please add the challenges to the web dashboard. I dont always access it from my phone and would love to see it on both sites.
fitbit I love your products and am currently a Surge user... I've recently purchased various fitbit devices for my whole family...
I'm hoping you can you please hurry along a 'Challenges Tile' for the PC dashboard...
The main reason most of us love fitbit is because we have the challenge a friend option.
Challenge a friend is motivating and keeps us goal orientated. Not everyone including some of my family members have APP phones they can access this tile from. fitbit these users have a inferior experience in comparison to those with AP access!
If you read community posts etc fitbit, a large percent of the fitbit community find the lack of the challenges tile on our dashboard a serious failing on your part...
I personally am quite disappointed after reading many post about this subject which seam to be falling on deaf ears for a considerable amount of time.
Could you make this a priority fitbit? We are anxiously waiting for a serious response!
I recently bought myself and my wife Fitbit Zip because friends had them and we were inspired to walk more. Unfortunately we cannot see challenges on our web page. Hope you are considering making changes to include this on our dashboards. It is discouraging both of us to paraticipate in walking without seeing our progress in the challenges. Please make some adjustments to include this, it will benefit so many people.
While I think that this would be a great addition, I simply participate in challenges using the Fitbit App for Windows 8.1. It allows you to participate in challenges and I can even type using a real keyboard to boot!

Do you not have a smartphone? I access my challenges through the app. I can keep track of where I stand on the rankings so much easier than if I had to run to my computer every single time just to check.
For folks who don't have smartphones though, I contend that it would be a good feature to add to the website.
Yes I have an iphone 6. And I do use the apple fitbit AP...
However along with hundreds of oher fitbit users I would still like to be able to access the challanges tile through my apple PC when working.
While working I access my emails from my PC, currently the fitbit challange email updates that I receive are not accessable through my PC, the links do not work...
It is ridiculous that more than a year has gone by since users have requested that challenges be viewable/able-to-be-accepted on PC/Mac, and those changes have not yet been made.
Y'all are missing 39% of the market (only 61% of Americans have smartphones). I am flabbergasted that I bought a $100 device that doesn't even have full functionality with my computing device of choice.
They should definitely add this to the dashboard. I got fitbits for my mom and aunt but they can't see their challenges. They don't use smart phones or tablets. They are old school and only use the regular laptop so they can't see the challenges. What happens is they can join and throughout the day I email them screenshots of the challenge from my smartphone. 😞
Okay, the short answer to your direct question. No. You can't join a challenge without the Fitbit App.
What most people actually want to know. Can I access the challenges from my PC (laptop, tablet, or desktop)? Yes, if you're running either Windows 8.1 or Windows 10.
You can join and participate in challenges just fine by installing the Fitbit App for Windows 8.1. I'm doing it right now.
I broke my phone yesterday and assumed I could check on my challenge status online but I couldn't figure out how to do that. Now I see this posting and I'm really sad! I don't know when my phone will be fixed but in the meantime, I am stuch without my favorite feature
The previous poster @kawaiistarz007 said, "What happens is they can join and throughout the day I email them screenshots of the challenge from my smartphone."
That's why I was wondering how they were able to join without the app...
I have a really old computer and don't have the newer Windows.
so if you have a PC you can run the challenges apps on a laptop, but if you have a Mac you cannot, they still need to fix this for people with Mac's who want to do their stuff on laptops or computers and not on phones, especially if they don't have a smart phone.
As the feature requests suggest, they're already considering access from the online web dashboard.
My suggestion for using the Fitbit App on Windows 8.1 (or Windows 10) is basically a workaround... a stopgap, if you will, until the web version is available. The idea that they'd develop a new dedicated app for the Mac apart from their online web dashboard, when the Mac has 8% of the market (though vocal, I'll admit).
And with respect to access to the challenges, when you consider that among that 8%, you'll also need to subtract the folks who don't run Windows on that Mac and don't carry an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch) and don't carry a Android phone/tablet and don't carry a Windows Phone.
Then the number becomes considerably smaller... Maybe 1%? And while I feel for you for being among that 1% (let's put it in perspective Linux users are sitting at 1.68%), I think they'll add access from the online dashboard before doing a dedicated Mac app. This way they'll also target Chromebook users (who also don't have a dedicated app). Of course, that's just my take on the situation.
If you're really looking to get into challenges, get an iPod Touch or a Lumia and install the Fitbit App on that. I know the latter you can get from Walmart for under $50 free and clear (you don't need to active it, just use it with wi-fi).
Pure Evil - That's a snarky response to a simple question to the development team. It also explains why your pen name is "Pure Evil". I was not asking for a Apple Mac application. I am requesting access to Challenges via the FitBit web interface, as are many others. And, by the way, I have an Apple iPhone and the FitBit app, which gives me access to challenges. But, It would be more convenient if the same functionality was available via my Apple Mac (web interface). Obviously, you are an Apple hater. So, just go wash your Windows!
That's fair and for that I do apologize. I misunderstood the nature of your request. Due to the status of this feature request, the development team is aware that it is a popular feature and are giving it the appropriate attention.
That said, when I posted my initial response, it was in order to help unblock some of the folks that it affected. I admit that it saddened me that no one who had benefitted from using the Windows Fitbit App had responded. No, obviously it doesn't help everyone. However, it also may affect the popularity of this feature if folks reading the forum (and Fitbit Development for that matter) can more accurately assess how many folks it really impacts.
Do I think that challenges should be available through the web interface? Definitely! I occasionally log on through a friend's computer (or an older computer) and it would be nice to be able to track my challenges without the hassle of installing the App.
However, do I think that there are other features that I, personally, would rank before this one? Absolutely. In fact, I've submitted a number of them and they are independent of OS. Realistically, Fitbit developers have a finite number of features that they can work on and frankly, I think other features like bumping the limit in challenges from 10 or adding a team option for challenges are more compelling. Even you admitted that the lack of this feature doesn't affect your ability to participate, only how easily you can.
All that said, I do apologize for the tone of my last mail. It didn't read the way I intended it.
PureEvil, Apology accepted. The challenge of the written word, is it can easily be misunderstood. Sorry, if my reply was a bit harsh. I understand the challenge of the systems development world, as I worked 40+ years in Information Technology. And, I understand the need to prioritize requests. With that said, I still believe this feature should be added to the web interface.
