Customize reminders to move / low activity throughout the day

It would be so much better if the alarms were able to be smart.

So if you don't reach your goal (say 250 steps in an hour), it vibrates.

Would be great if able to customrize goals (steps/calories/floors/zone minutes, etc) and time period (1/2/3 hours / day etc) and get your own smart alarms.

Definitely something I would use. The fixed alarms you can set throughout the day are a bit useless in my humble opinion.

Thank you,

Kenneth

Please let us change the hourly reminder to more than 10 min before the hour.

If I've been sitting for the whole hour, 10 min is not enough time to get 250 steps unless I immediately drop everything I'm doing and run outside. I can't always do that when I'm at work, and the short notice makes it very stressful to maintain a streak of activity throughout the day. If I could change the reminder to something like 20 minutes before the hour, I'd have more time to escape a meeting or wrap up a phone call and get my steps done. If I could change it to 50 minutes before the hour, I'd have plenty of time to set another manual reminder and plan my activity.

I own a Surge. I know it's a fitness tracker but how about adding a feature where you can add custom reminders to your alarms? You can add up to 8 alarms on the Surge already. In the application it also says you can add alarms to remind yourself to do things during the day. So how about that? LIMITED WORDS/LETTERS will do too! Commonets make it happen

It would be great if I could customise the alert I get for 'Reminder to Move'. I'd like to set it to go off at (for example) 20 minutes before the hour and then again at 10 mins to the hour if I still have not met the threshold number of steps.

Thanks!!

Another vote for customizing the reminder alert. The hourly reminders are a significant reason I use an activity tracker. It's not always easy for me to get those steps in that last 10 minutes.

any progress on this... would be a wonderful feature!!

I would like to see customization also. I would like to be able to set a reminder at 5 mins. to the hour in case I get busy when it first goes off at 10 mins. to so that I can get up and get going. Usually I will look at my tracker just as the hour changes and then I've missed my steps for the previous hour.

I have used a fitbit almost continuously since its kickstarter debut, and absolutely am addicted to it. I am currently using an Alta HR, and it is, without a doubt, the best model yet. I would like to offer a product suggest though. I would love to be able to customize a "Remember to move" reminder. That is, I could say that between certain hours (configurable), I like to be reminded every 20 minutes (configurable) to get up and move, similar to the hourly reminder to get 250 steps. Of course, a user could disable this feature, but it would be great for those of us that want to get up and move after sitting for a period of time. An addition feature that would be nice is the ability to set the amount of time you want to move before sitting back down. So, for example, I could say reminder to get up after 20 minutes of inactivity, and then to move for 25 steps (both of these would be configurable). I currently use a separate timer to accomplish this, but would love it to be integrated into my fitbit. Thanks for considering it.

The timed reminder to move is one thing I greatly miss since returning to fit bit after a few years.  If I don't get up and move every 30-45 minutes, my joints get so stiff it becomes actually painful to walk.

I like this idea.  I wish my charge 2 would be a little more aggressive about reminding me to move.  Allowing users to configure it would be very helpful.

Agree.  Those of us stuck in offices don't always have the  flexibility to get up and go 10 minutes before the hour. I've missed many a step count because I was stuck on a phone call. I agree we should have more options so we get to 250.  Can you please please give us the current step countdown to reach the goal?Stop with the step o'clock!

Hi @kennethplantss and commenters, thanks for your suggestion.

We're always working to streamline our offerings as we introduce new products. Although it has been a very popular product for us, we will soon stop selling Fitbit Surge. If you're looking for a new device, we recommend considering Ionic. Ionic is a motivating timepiece packed with fitness guidance, health insights, music storage, apps, and more. You can learn more about Ionic at https://www.fitbit.com/ionicor compare the Fitbit family of products at https://www.fitbit.com/compare.

Please note that we’ll continue to support Surge from a software standpoint, along with any questions you might have during your use of the product. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit devices you love and help you reach your goals.

I think your suggestion is a good one, so I took the liberty of changing the label and title so that it is applicable to future products and exercise developments.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feedback with us.

As others have suggested, I too would appreciate being able to change the reminder to move notification.  And as others have stated, 20 minutes would be perfect.

Absolutely. I want to be able to customise it to every 15/30 minutes depending on the hour. Shouldn't be that hard surely when the overall functionality is there?

This morning I woke up and realized I’d gone to bed the night before just 14 steps shy of my goal. How could this have been prevented? Obviously, I should have checked my tracker before bed, but I also think it would be helpful to have the option to create a customizable reminder I can schedule to go off shortly before my bedtime to say “you only have 9 (or 90 or 900) steps left!” so that I don’t miss out on hitting that target.

Yojana Fitbit Moderator, sounds like lots of comments about customizing Reminder schedules. Let's hope it happens soon. What about the Versa - for those who didn't purchase the Ionic. Will this be an update across multiple products?

I too would love to be able to set multiple movement reminders within an hour, per recommendation of my doctor for my back issues. I attempted to work around this by setting multiple silent alarms, but you are only allotted 8 alarms, which doesn't cover a full 8 hours of sitting in front of a computer at work. The cherry on top would be the ability to set different reminder vibration lengths and or patterns. Sometimes I'm too zoned into work and miss the short one that happens every hour. I'm not kidding when I say I'd buy a new fitbit if these features were added!

It would be great the get a reminder (at a chosen time) to go for a walk to meet the daily step goal. If my daily step goal isn’t met I could get a reminder at a chosen time for instance 7pm to “go for a 10 min walk to meet your daily step goal”.

The time should be estimated from how many steps I need to take to meet the goal.

Hi @Rhajen, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here. Don't forget to add your vote!

I made this suggestion years ago.

HELLO FITBIT MODERATORS???

Not only would it be nice to customize the timing of the reminder but as I am now trying to move more (also an office job) I would like the ability to customize my hourly goal to 750 per hour as well!

Allowing users to set either 250 steps per hour or more (customized by exact numbers not increments is better) would be a great way to earn more steps than you would normally.

The ability to have your smart watch vibrate at you when you've been idle for (x) minutes!!

This feature has been implemented in other Fitbit trackers, and I just don't understand why it's not available in your smart watches!  The smartwatch already can track idleness and movement.  It's absolutely crucial for those with sedentary jobs to get up and move regularly - setting reminders is not really feasible as (1) you can't name them, and (2) a reminder doesn't account for when the last time was you moved.  I shouldn't have to buy a tracker AND a smart watch to be able to have this function - besides, wearing two devices on one wrist just isn't comfortable.
