YESSSSSS. I just upgraded from my Charge 2 to the Versa and I hate it solely because of this. Very poor design to have a pause button where it can get hit every time you do push-ups, burpees and bear crawls. I lose several minutes of my workout because of this. It shouldn't be too hard to have an option to turn off those buttons while in exercise mode rather than having to change the arm that I wear it on. I'm thinking about going to a different tracker because of this reason
When boxing the gloves hit the screen and pause it, I almost never get a full session recorded. Complete waste of a watch if you can't actually get your stats from sessions.
I lost 15 miles of a 15.5 mile bike ride today because it paused after a half mile. I don’t know how this can be considered a serious workout tool when you regularly lose giant chunks of workouts.
So disappointed with this device. I’m going to replace it, but that means I’m pretty much writing off a $200 purchase.
Yep same here, wife and I are both so tired of Fibit pausing itself constantly and losing out workout data. Even if you edit the workout times it will only show the new workout time but there's still no additional data for that time. If you delete the shorted workout and relog a new one manually, same thing - no data. How can you have a fitness tracker that so easily goes into pause with no indicators, and it stops recording? Why isn' it at least recording in the background so that a simple time edit in the log would correct it? I see people have been complaining about this for a long time which tells me FitBit doesn't care. So we're going to buy a couple new Apple Watch 4's.I will miss the sleep log, but we feel we don't really have a choice because with the pause ruining workout tracking so frequently it's like not even having one.
I have been consistently wondering why my count was way off, after reviewing with Fitbit customer service, she brought up the fact that my workout was paused like 10-15 times during my 40 minute workout. The pause button is in the absolute place for someone doing pushups, planks, etc. I can't believe this function has not been improved upon by now. It basically renders my watch useless, in my opinion. I worked out today & caught at least 6 times my workout in a paused state.
It seems pretty obvious that the people who designed this don't actually work out and don't know the first thing about fitness in general. And now, they've introduced this premium feature that gives things like, minimum heart rate during sleep. Why can't I get that now? Why do I have to pay for a feature that just shows data the device already collects?
It's a kick in the teeth. Like I said above. These things are just toys. They are not for serious fitness enthusiasts.
Absolutely, but they call themselves "Fit" bit. They should try harder. This issue has come up for several years with no fix. My workout partner has an Apple watch and has no issues. I have an android phone so can't get one unless I change phone.
I've used the Apple Watch, Charge, Versa, and Ionic the only one that has no issues with my tattoo is the Ionic. I like the design of the Versa but until they change the design I will stick with the Ionic.
This feature is badly needed. I lost a great deal of my run last night because it had paused. It does seem to be caused by running with long sleeves. I check the FitBit and then it gets paused from clothing brushing the button.
This feature has been requested everywhere for years! FitBit please fix! What's the point of a fitness tracker if the working can't be recorded correctly.
Maybe if the watch would vibrate when pause is activated, that would help. At least I would get some kind of feedback that my run is no longer getting logged.
Yes! It's sooo aggravating! Trying out switching to right/dominant arm as a workaround right now, but this is really poor design. You'd think the problem would have come to light during testing. I'm seriously considering switching to something else instead. Come on @Fitbit listen to your community and please fix this!
I hike a good bit and just got the Ionic to track my hikes and runs. I have it synced to Strava as well. But the pause button keeps ruining the gps data. All I do is bend my wrist apparently and it pauses. So I’m deleting the exercise synced to Strava from Fitbit and just uploading the gpx file from Gaia gps. I don’t need the watch if I keep having to do this. I’ll get another watch. It’s pointless to have if it pauses so easily.
I've found this can be a real problem if I'm cycling and wearing a jacket that covers the Versa (which is most of the time at the moment). I get home and find that the Versa paused part way through my ride and more than half the data is missing. It's just far too sensitive when in exercise mode. As far as I can see the only way round this is to not use the Versa to track my rides but just use Strava on my phone which seems to defeat the objective in the first place? I can't help wondering if a Garmin would be better.
this suggestion has been shared, and reviewed more than a year ago, and I'm still waiting for it. I'm very tired to lose half of my data, during a workout or a bike ride, because the watch pause itself and I don't notice it. I love the watch, but I'm seriously considering to buy something else, only because of this.
Lost at least a mile of my ride today. Gloves bump button on Ionic and pause. I’m constantly checking if it paused accidentally. Can’t move up arm to avoid. Please fix or I’ll be looking at other brands soon:
This has been happening to me all the time lately. I googled to see if it was a problem with my versa and discovered this has been a problem for many other fitbit users. I wear wrist protectors when biking so perhaps that is aggravating, but occurred today when I was doing calisthenics. Fitbit, please, allow us to disable the pause "feature".
Any updates since this request to suggest changing where the pause button is on the Fitbit? I’ve been dealing with it but it’s quite annoying! Whenever I’m playing tennis or at times riding my bike and my wrist is bent it pauses the Fitbit as it’s recording activity.
I have lost track of how many workouts I have lost track of because of accidentally pausing my Ionic. I have tried both arms, front and back of wrist, and somehow still manage to accidentally pause.
This should be a real simple problem to solve. And considering how many people have been complaining for so long one would think it would have been solved by now.
Hi @Sambadams, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about adding the ability to disable the pause feature for workouts, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here to keep this site organized.
