Display remaining steps for hourly activity on Fitbit app

It would be nice to display in the App's Hourly Activity dashboard the number of steps that you need for the current hour to meet 250 steps.  Also would be nice on the Alta display, not just when there is 10 minutes left in the hour, which only show the number left sometimes.

The Charge 2 doesn't tell you how many steps you need to take, but tells yo how many steps you have taken this hour. If you know how many of the 250 steps this hour have been walked, would it be really that hard to figure out how many steps left to take?

Except I don't have a Charge 2.

It seems to be a App software issue & not any Hardware matter, FitBit be
ensuring that all FitBit Variant model variants should be upgraded via App

Nothing brightens up my day more than gratuitous sarcasm. No, it wouldn't
be that hard. However, Fitbit clearly has the technology to indicate how
many steps are needed to reach 250, since many times a message like "Up for
66 more?" comes up. In view of that, why not always show the steps needed
instead of something like "How about a stroll?" It can't be "that hard"
to program it so that the number of steps needed is always shown. Right?

It's too bad nobody from fitbit, who can actually run these suggestions up to where change is possible, reads these suggestions. I've given up hope and trashed my alta. Now I'm just waiting to gain weight and for a heart attack to take me away or something.

To follow up:  Ionic has definitely implemented this, and it works well.  This is one of the positive things I can say about Ionic.  The fact that Fitbit has listened to this request and implemented it makes me hopeful for the future development.

I'll add my voice to this. I really only use the FB as a tool to remind me to move around. Often the jokey reminders that pop up at ten to the hour don't even tell me how many steps I have left to do. It's very annoying when I put my jacket on, I'm halfway to the door, and the device tells me I've reached my hourly goal!

I suspect they haven't implemented this simple feature, despite numerous requests for it, because it will hammer home for all users just how inaccurate the step counter is.

Poor show Fitbit. I have a week before my return window closes. That's how long you have before I become a Fitbit decrier.

I have a Charge 2 that has the hourly activity display but my wife has the Alta HR and she screams that hers does not show the steps to get to 250. I strongly suggest you add it to the Alta HR.

Yes, it would be great to have the number of steps needed always displayed when you get your reminder.

Whether it be 10 steps or 250, it might be the push to get up and move.

I also vote for a "hourly steps to go" feature.

You CAN see how many steps to go in the Charge 2...

in the mobile app, tap the account icon

tap Charge 2

tap Customize Stats

Ensure Hourly Activity is turned on

drag it to the location in the order you want it to display

return to main screen and sync your fitbit

go to your fitbit

tap to cycle through the display

the little running man (active mins dudeactive mins dude) displays with a number beside it.  That's how many steps you have left

If you hit your 250, then it shows you how many hours you've successfully completed until the next hour starts.

Yes, you can. We have to the Fitbit Alta which doesn't show it.

Can you tell me how? I look in the dashboard and add it up in steps area.
Thanks,
Pam

The mobile app will only show what it knows based on up to the time of the last sync. For me this is pretty useless to tell me how many steps I've done this hour.

As for looking at the hourly stats on the watch. Most of the watches show your current hour count until the 250 is hit.. Then it reverts to the hours with 250 steps.

Sorry to bother you again. I have an alta. I have never seen what you are describing. Are you on alta as i thought i read?
Thanks much,
Pam

I have an Alta. From what I've seen, the Altas do not have the hourly steps to 250, but the Charge 2 does.

So, is this feature going to be included in the next Alta update?

Also, I would like to have the reminder be more noticeable.  Many times, I do not notice it.

Thanks,

Kathy

I would love to always see the number of steps needed when notified to 'walk' to maintain the 250 steps per hour. and /or show the number of steps done within the hour on the hourly activity screen.

This would be a great enhancement for the Alta, especially handy for when I am at work and have limited opportunity to increase my step count.

Given the data is already stored surely it should be a quick fix to make it available to users?

You would think so but there has been no indication of interest from the Fitbit people since I first posted some months back.

"Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion... We do not currently have plans to release this feature".

Wow, Fitbit! What a fantastic 'community' you've created!! Good to know you're listening.

(I know sarcasm can be hard to detect in print so, just for the record, that's sarcasm)

Hi everyone, whilst there aren't plans to release this on the mobile app, this feature has been moved directly onto device. On Fitbit Ionic, in the 'today' app, you can see steps remaining to achieve your hourly goal. This feature will likely be incorporated onto other future devices. Thanks for sharing this suggestion.

Actually @KrpDiem86 your logic has problems.

The app only knows the step count during the last sync, which was how long ago.. Do you really want to have to sync everytime your curious as to how many steps have been done this hour?

Most of the trackers now give you this info right on the wrist.
