Edit Time of Daily Reset of Stats / Add Nightshift

Hi, It would be great if users could change the daily reset of stats to a different hour. We night owls who go sleep late after midnight now have to calculate the differences in our heads and that's not ideal. Thanks!

I've only read a handful of the responses on this post but I wanted to add my vote for an adjustable daily reset time as well.  I'm another 2nd shifter/night owl who is up pretty late everynight (along with my wife who also has a FitBit) and neither of us follow a normal work-day either.  It would be nice to NOT have all our stats reset so early.  One positive I get out of the 12am reset time is that after midnight, we're usually less active so it seems like a handy time to recharge our HRs without really loosing out on stats but that only needs to happen 1 or 2 times a week so for the rest of the days, this reset default is a bit inconvenient.  Especially because we DO still occassionally get in a late-night activity and/or snacks that should track on our current days stats.  Hope this request is a strong consideration or implimentation.  Thanks for listening.

Yes! Same here; I work 7pm-7am right now and would love to use the hourly counter but I can't. Plus, sometimes on my days off I do flip to a "day" schedule so I don't want to have to keep manually switching the "active" hours. I think it should just run for 24hrs, or at least be set for 20hrs since I'm awake on both sides of my 12hr shift!

Yea, I actually set my time zone 12 hours ahead to try and get all my steps to fit into one "day". It still shows the right time, but I no longer display the date on my device, because 1/2 the time it would be wrong.

It's not a perfect solution, the online dashboard seems reluctant to accept my preferred time, so I don't really look there anymore, but my actual device and the Windows 10 Fitbit app respect my set time zone and now show 0 steps when I wake up and resets while I'm sleeping.

To set the hourly 250 steps counter, I set the hours that I wanted, but reversed the am/pm to reflect my alternate time zone I had set. I'm hoping this works, I just tried it out, so I'm not all sure how it works.

Ultimately, I think the 250 steps/hour thing should just ignore any hours where it knows you are sleeping. If my device can track my sleep, can't it just push me to get the 250 steps for any hours it knows I'm not sleeping? I don't know.

Nice to see they are trying to add new things though.

Hourly activity is a great new feature. Unfortunately, I work 3rd shift so it's totally useless to me. My most active hours are 10pm - 5am. The app won't allow me to change the tracked hours to cross midnight. The hours you allow me to track are my sleeping hours. Please remove this restriction.

Thank you.

Same kind of situation for me. I work in theater, so I get up at about 11 o'clock in the morning, and go to work around 4:00 or 5:00 in the afternoon. My workday ends at about one in the morning, but I'm up for another couple of hours before I go to sleep at about 3 AM.
I've always been frustrated that my step count does not accurately represent my day, but I've just kind of lived with that. I really love the 250 steps idea – for my mind, it's much easier than the 10,000 steps a day thing. But a lot of my steps happen between midnight and 3 o'clock in the morning, and setting the time to track to cross the midnight boundary would be extraordinarily helpful.
I really like the idea of the fit bit tracking steps when I'm not asleep – I hadn't thought about that!
In any event, thank you for your continued work at improving this thing!

Me too! I work a cascading rotation (two days 0600-1400, two days 1400-2200, and two 2200-0600, followed by four days off) I just got my Fitbit surge and was wondering how my work would affect tracking in that way!

I would like to see the surge HR have a setting so you can get a warning (beep or buzz) when you have reached a Owner set Heart Rate Level. In my case, I'm under Doctors orders not to go above a maximun 130bpm. If I could set up my Surge HR to warn me at say, 125bpm, then I know to slow down or stop. Can such a feature be added? There are a lot of heart patients out there with Fitbits and I am certain such a feature would be of great benefit. Thank you.

Why the limitation to 14 hours.. why not 24 and let the user set limits that work for that user?

Nice addition, as far as it goes, but would be nice to see on the device, and best to implement the actual alarm reminder on Charge HR and other devices.

I agree on that my active hours are anywhere between 10am and 6 am sometimes with a 15 hour shift.

In case anyone has not noticed Fitbit support has consistently ignored night shift workers requests for the ability to change tracking hours for the last three years. Go to the community and do a simple search for "night shift" you will see what I am talking about. The only solution they have offered in this time has been to change your tracker's time zone. I have spent way too much money with this company in the last year to have that kind of response to a problem. I have both emailed and called Fitbit about this issue and the response is the same, go vote in the community. This is ridiculous! At this point I am looking for another brand fitness tracker that will allow me to change my tracking hours to suit my needs. I cannot continue to patronize a company that willfully ignores the requests of customers over three years.

Fitbit customer support has consistently ignored this request for at least three years now. If you do a search in the community for "night shift" you will see that both feature requests and solutions to this problem have been requested. The only "solution" that has been offered from Fitbit as of yet has been to change your time zone. I just bought a $200 Blaze for me that is not a solution. I'm not wearing a watch that does not tell the correct time. This issue needs to be addressed. At this point I am looking for another brand fitness tracker that will allow me to change my tracking times to suit my daily needs. It makes me mad that it has come to this but in this day and age there is no need to stay with a product you are not 100% satsified with. The market is way too competitive and honestly Fitbit is not the only fitness tracker around. Good luck to all!!! @fitbitsupport

If I ever get time I am going to copy and paste every link to all of the discussions on this community about the night shift issue. That way it is all in one place and the "mod" can see that this is a feature people are not going to stop requesting. No changing your time zone is not solving the problem and people need to stop marking their post as solved with that crap!!!!!!!!!! MAKE FITBIT DEVELOPERS COME UP WITH A REAL SOULTION! I have decided to find a different fitness tracker after seeing how Fitbit has chosen to ignore theses requests for the last three years.

I work night shift too, and sleep during day hours, agree if it possible to make some change for nightshift workers.

You can change the hourly activity goal hours.  Log onto your account and in your dashboard click on the tile.  In the bottom left corner there is a settings "gear".  Click that to change them.

You can change the hours, but you cannot cross midnight.

Completely stupid to add more features dependant on a day shift schedule. Bad decision, FitBit. Recode these poorly designed features. Allow us to set our days and allow us to set the hourly activity tracker to match. I paid over $100 for my device, prove to me that it was worth it.

uggins, actually it CAN be adjusted a little BUT won't go past 11pm.  Still NOT helpful.

AND, I bought TWO Charge HRs, each for over $130.  My wife is starting "Insanity" and I'm starting "T25", both in high need of a good HR tracker which is why we bought them.  Really is frustrating that we can't set them to OUR normal "Day".  Especially since we're switching from a "21-Day Fix" style dietary budget to a "Calorie-counting" style.  It's really rough how our stats reset 3-4 hrs before the end of our day.  REALLY screws with our daily budgetting...

FitBit...  PLEASE acknowledge our plea's.

I have other apps that allow me to just set when the day "turns over". I have mine set to 6am local time there. The fact that they haven't implemented this means they hardcoded midnight into probably everything in their initial product and can't hit the undo button easily. Well, too bad. Please make an effort for the multitudes here who provide support for 24-hour services that make your life easier in hospitals, police and fire departments, and service sector jobs like technical support and grocery stores. We're here for you, please don't forget us!

I don't mind most of the features resetting while I am working overnight for the most part. Would it be nice to have? Yes. But it's not a deal breaker for me. The benefits of what this Surge has given me far outweigh the draw back of my step counter resetting. The 250 step thing? Different story. Love the idea, but upset I can't use it on night shift. It can't be all that hard to make it 24 hours can it? Or at least make it adjustable??

I work roatating shift work and the ability to shift the start and end of my day would be a good thing. Changing times zones every three or four days is cumbersome and inconvenient who use this thing as an actual "watch".

I work night shift 6pm to 6 am. I realize you cannot set activity into a second day say I 4pm to 6am. But why not have duel time setting like setting 1 time from 12am to 6am and a second time from 4pm to 11am that way it can log for the single day but cater to more work schedules and ignore sleep. Even better tie it to sleep so it knows when you are up and starts tracking.

I'm an afternoon/night owl. I get most of my steps in after 1pm. But it won't let me key 1pm-1am.

Please PLEASE give us a 24hr clock!! We're all different!!

Thanks 🙂
