Exercise Tracking Cues - include spoken current heart rate as an option

A great feature to have which would increase and assist my running is the option to select spoken current heart rate as an exercise cue (for fitbit devices with pure pulse).

I would also like to see a feature for spoken encouragement when ones pace / heart rate drops. This would be amazing

For example, voice cues could include:

* Encouragement option - keep up the effort when fatigue is detected

* Heart rate

* Distance

* Time

* Weakly/ monthly Average Pace

* Split Pace (since last cue)

* Calories burned

Thanks 🙂

Dear Fitbit Engineers and Developers,

Can we get real time voice cues while running from the Fitbit Ionic without using the mobile run feature in the Fitbit app?

I really enjoyed this feature while running with my prior device, but the whole reason behind buying the ionic was to have the ability to shed my phone and just run with my Bose Soundsport headphones and the Ionic’s music streaming capabilities.

I’d like the voice cues to be embedded on the device and communicate with the earbuds  and give the following info:

Pace

Splits

Cadence

Distance

Embedding these mobile run features directly into the device will greatly improve user satisfaction and Fitbit’s ability to compete with Garmin devices.

Keep us posted on these timelines, as without these features, I fear that as a former surge owner, all that separates the Ionic and the Surge is a color screen and some minor tweaks at this point.

Sincerely,

Ryan O’Gowan

Other devices such as Gramin FR645M have this feature.

I totally agree, I love my fitbit but when I run I end up starting the fitbit but simultaneously starting the MapMyRun app, because it gives me voice cues and automatically plays my running playlist. It's a bummer the fitbit wasn't a bit more athletic minded.

I agree, as well....I recently received my Ionic as a Retirement gift ... and, honestly, how it is so priced so much higher than the Charge 2 is beyond me.

Strange that such a simple feature is still not available after two years... Maybe I'll return my fitbit while I can when it appears that I can not hear my heart rate, nor sync it live to runkeeper.

I bought it because I want to monitor my heart rate during workouts and audio is the logical way for me, apparently the device / software can not actually help me in what I bought it for...

I totally agree.  I was thinking of upgrading to the Ionic Adidas edition so I could leave my phone at home, but if it doesn't include voice cues when tracking a run/walk, that's a deal breaker for me.  I will continue on with my Blaze and save myself some money.

Yep, so I had to get a Polar heart rate monitor besides the Charge 2.

When will you respond to the many people asking you to add heart rate to the audio cues that are available?  What is taking so long?

With Fitbit, you should only take a product by what it provides right now. Feature requests exist, but are useless. Proof of this is a integration with 3rd party services. Fitbit wants to lock you in their devices and app.

Fitbit won't give voice cues for heart rate, simple as that. Next time you're looking for a fitness product, speak with your wallet.

Which fitness products do provide voice cues for heart rate?

Check out Polar and Garmin products 🙂

Agree. I use MapMyRun and when I have to pause my Fitbit and that app at red lights, it’s a major pain.

Great idea. I'd like to see it.

@KCDC currently the only way to get voice cues is to record the run using the Fitbit app on a phone.

Would be good to have voice notifications when exercising and listening to music etc e.g.when run 1k with details of pace, time of last 1k, overall time, distance etc.

I’m using a Versa. I would like to be able to start an activity via my watch and have voice cues come through my Bluetooth connected headphones. At present it appears I can only get voice cues if I start an activity through my phone, but then I am unable to keep track of time, distance and pace via my watch. Seems ridiculous that I would have to track an activity through my watch and my phone at the same time in order to have both features. (I would end up with two activities recorded, and would have to delete one).

On a run it’s shows your split times either every 0.5 or 1.0 mile per your selection. For each split I’d like to also see my Average Heart rate.

You should be able to see your average pace for all runs or swims during the month.
