Fitbit Journal - Notes on the Fitbit app

How about a space in the app for a daily note. I would like to be able to leave a note on the daily results page. So that if results are high or low I would know why when looking back. IE: was I sick so my daily results were very low or were they extra good and for what reason? In sure folks would have lots of reasons to look back at results and would want to know what was what at that time. Ted

Hello fitbitters,

I am a bodybuilder, therefore a small note option would be nice to the exercises so I can log what muscle group I worked out on any given day. It is not that hard to implement and it can have a 160 character limit. This would be useful to others as well I believe.

I use a surge by the way.
Have a nice day.

This is a feature you've removed. I vote it should be brought back.

Love it! I think this can have all my exercise organized and with a clear description. I see myself using it all the time. Great suggestion!

Thanks for sharing it! 🙂

There needs to be a way to add notes and tag them with a category for various reasons.

Examples:

1 - currently suffering from respiratory infection and unable to complete workouts this week

2 - injuries that may prevent completion of workouts for given period of time

for both of the above scenarios - being able to keep progress notes can help with recovery and be a helpful source of information when looking back. -- Let's face it a month from now when reveiwing progress, you're just not going to remember why you skipped a whole week of workouts.

3 - for those with digestive issues being able to make notes about a food or meal would assist in determining food triggers

I'm sure there are dozens of other reasons to have a notes/comments feature that would be useful to a great many users.

I would love for all my data tracking to be consolidated into one app--Fitbit. I really wish I had the ability to track my mood and/or provide status updates/photos that would help me remember my day better as I review my activity. That would help me make important connections between food, sleep & exercise!

I consider myself a "Quantified Self" power user with a PhD in molecular medicine. My highest priority need with all my QS gadgets is a complex journaling feature that allows me to detect patterns and correlations between life events, sleep, sport performance, food, meditation, medication, alcohol, mood, energy levels, heart rate and blood pressure, blood sugar and other clinical chemistry data, etc. I want to annotate heart rate peaks, track my mood, track my sport performance under different conditions, etc.

Fibit is one of my foundational partners on my QS journey but discontinuing a Journaling feature (which was not even complex enough) is an absolute deal breaker for me and shows me a serious misunderstanding of the market trends.

We need those Journaling features back!

The recorded data becomes completely useless in a week if I cannot annotate or tag it because I forget the circumstances.

We need a complex journaling/diary/note feature!

how about being able to star and comment/lable  on exercise workout stats on the dashboard pc and mobile. ive started doing virtual races so it be handy to be able to mark the exercises tht go towards these races as well as do a running total of milage towards the challenges.

be so much easier to gather the info together when i have to send it to the virtual run company for proof of completing the challenge

In the privacy settings, there's an option to adjust the privacy for mood and allergy categories on your profile page. As far as I can tell, there's no such place to enter data for mood or allergies anywhere in the log or on the dashboard. Not sure if those categories are a remnant from an old feature or something that was put in in preparation for a new feature that was never launched.

So, you should probably either remove those options or put the features into the log.

I personally think that mood tracking is a good idea-- even just a general "I felt good today!" or "I was exhausted today..." could give some insight as far as how your sleep, food intake, and exercise levels affect your mood.

Not sure that an allergy tracker would be quite as useful.

@OakHillGirl Thanks for the suggestion. I would like to get more details about this. Where exactly do you want to comment, in the activities section, food or sleep?

Let me know so I can help you to clarify this idea.

i would love the ability to add notes to the dashboard. I have holes in my workouts from things like illness, company and most of all charging. Some of these things are not long occurrences but do keep me from meeting my goals. Would be a great add to the app.

I agree and I would like to have an area that my fitbit friends can see too so I can post how things went for the day so we can encourage each other.

I think there needs to be a place where we can take notes about our day. A place to list that why a night was missing (needing charging etc) or a time when you were sick. Just so that we can go back and look and have accurate feedback for ourselves

With all this data, I think it would be great to implement mood tracking. Even if it's just a few smiley faces. All this data can surely be extrapolated over time to show you that you have a better mood when you exercise, when you eat at your calories, or when you sleep better/more/less. Energy is the same. After a month of data and mood input, it should be pretty easy to see mood trends and receive tips from the fitbit like "You demonstrate improved mood after you've exercised at least 30 minutes", or "You sleep with 5.5 fewer restless events when you exercise for at least 45 minutes". That kind of thing. I would love to see this data used to really improve health trends and make people more aware of their habits.

I think an exercise journal, where a user can put in their exercise details would be great.

As it currently stands, there's an ACTIVITIES tab, but all it really does, is show your heart rate, calories burnt and heart rate zones.

Sometimes it's hard keeping track of exactly what you've done, so a journal would be great.  Being able to put down on a workout something such as: -

  • Amount of Weight lifted - Squatted 40kg, Bench Pressed 60kg etc. would be a good way of keeping track for people too.
  • Height Climbed - A lot of people take climbing as a hobby.
  • Cycling
  • etc.

There are a TON of different exercises that I don't think Fitbit full caters for at the moment; not saying that Fitbit is bad, I love mine, but if it catered for a lot more, it'd be that bit better.

Something like myWellness or even just as simple as a journal, just so it can be written down alongside the workout, or something similarly to a journal itself, where it's effectively like a blog I guess.

I think this'd be a great idea!

It would be great to have a field to mention some category, or comments which can later be used in reports of Sleep. My scenario, i have observed that when i change my room, then my sleep effeciency changes from around 82% to 93% ! And this I have been feeling myself before getting the Fitbit, and Fitbit just proved I was right.

It would be nice to be able to keep a note of what changed on this day, so that later fitbit could show it to me in some form of report.

This has to be easy to fix. It is baffling that this hasn't been added as a feature.

I also would like to have the ability to add comments concerning my workout.  I'd like to be able to record the focus of the work out and how I felt during the workout.

Yes! Please bring journaling features back for mood and otherwise (especially on the mobile apps). I struggle with depression and IBS, both of which are affected by my diet and exercise habits, and being able to track my triggers is critical to my overall treatment. Please -- this would help me manage my symptoms so much more easily. (Please!!)
