Fitbit Journal - Notes on the Fitbit app

How about a space in the app for a daily note. I would like to be able to leave a note on the daily results page. So that if results are high or low I would know why when looking back. IE: was I sick so my daily results were very low or were they extra good and for what reason? In sure folks would have lots of reasons to look back at results and would want to know what was what at that time. Ted

Hello there, It seems this sounds like a great idea to keep track of personal achievements on your account.

Thanks for participating in our community!

I'm new to fitbit and the fitbit community, but I immediately noticed a need for a note log with the app.  It would serve many uses...for example, I would like to record if I took a sleep med on a particular night so I could easily correlate the number of restless and wake periods with a particular medication, bed time, etc.  So based on comments and voting, obviously many others have similar needs.  Can we get an update from the moderator as to whether this is getting any attention in development?

I like that I'm able to see how much sleep I'm getting and how many interruptions happen during my sleep. It would be nice to have a sleep log/journal as part of the app. I could keep a separate journal, but it would take time to consolidate the data. If much rather have it in one place.

As everyone here is saying, making the sleep log feature meaningful requires linking the sleep log to everything else that is going on--exercise, diet, stress, changes to routines and environment.  That means being able to link a lot of information to the sleep log, if necessary.

I would also like to be able to link sleep to nighttime heart rate and to RHR.

and finally, I'd like to be able to get rid of the annoying gaps in the sleep record--those hours when my Fitbit is still tracking my heartrate but has concluded that I'm not "asleep," "awake" or "restless," I've simply wandered off, between bouts of sleep, to empty the dishwasher or check email or floss my teeth for a couple of hours.  As a result of these gaps, I have artificially high "efficiency" rates.

The missing journaling option, the failure to link the sleep report with heart rate readings, and a sleep algorithm that excludes long periods of sustained wakefulness or restlessness from the sleep log make the Fitbit marginally useful, at best, for understanding my own insomnia.

There should be a notes section you can add to a particular exercise to track reps, stamina, etc during your workouts. Kind of like when you can upload a picture of your workout, you can attach a note to it

Moderator, why is this request shown as solved. It's not! We still do not have a space for notes in the app.

Ditto to Shoestring45 and all the others who have asked to have a Note section added to the daily dashboard.

Being a Senior with some health problems I would like to be able to add a note as to why my daily results are either up or down. I certainly can't depend on my memory any more.Smiley Wink

Thanks for listening and hope to receive a positive reply in the near future.

It would be a big help to we Seniors who have Health problems to record why our daily results are up or down.

I know I can't rely on my memory.Smiley Wink

To be able to add daily notes would be a BIG help..

Thanks for listening.Smiley Happy

I agree with this suggestion - on the Fitbit One App, it would be very useful to have a comment box at the end of the Dashboard page so that you can make note of having been under the weather, having mislaid your Fitbit, or whatever else might affect your stats - just for your own information when you're reviewing your progress...

I second this idea! I would like to note days that I do a 10-20-30 interval workout. I know I am getting credit for the steps and calories, but would like to keep track of which days I did this particular workout.

I would love to see something like this.  I'm new to Fitbit, bought it a week ago.  I have arthritis and am looking to be more active in general.  I've gone for a walk every day so far, and just today (day 7) went to walk but only got a few blocks before turning back for home.  The reason was that I must have been doing too much lately and the knees were arguing with me too much to continue.  I would love to be able to add a note to today's excersise so that in the future, when I question why one day was so much less than others, I can see the note for explanation.  It would also be helpful to note that a day did not have any excersise because it was raining, etc.

I hope Fitbit create a space for us to add remarks or note for every activities logged. I would like to record what circuit training I did and what weight I use to see if I have improved overtime

I love my Fitbit and the app that goes along with it. The only gripe I have with the app is the need for a comment section for each workout. More infon about the run i.e. speed, stretches, post run workouts etc. is necessary and would be a great addition to the app.

I came on here to find out if this could be done.  I would like a note function as well.  For example, I forgot to put mine back on after showering today so it would be nice to note that, or days when the weather was bad, or you're sick, etc.  It would just be nice to be able to note why you only did 2000 (for eg) steps on a certain day rather than 10-13 k.

I totally agree.

It's weird that is doesn't already exist.

I'd like a note function, but specifically attached to activities that I have logged. For example, I could add a note to a run about the weather, how I felt that day, etc. I could also make a note there in case the distance was off (I recently had a 4.25 mile run come in as about 3.6, so it would be nice to add a note explaining that I was actually moving at a much faster pace.)

Id like to be able to include an attached note to my workout when I log exercise. I really liked that feature when I was using Endomondo.

I log my food into the Fitbit app and I love it but I would really like a notes section. For instance, I'm hypoglycemic and want to be able to log when I'm having symptoms (in order to see it in relation to when I ate and what I ate) but currently I'm using my notes app on my phone so I have to flip back and forth between the apps.

I think it could be helpful for other reasons such as noting if a workout felt too difficult or too easy, etc.

Thanks!

Moderator: Any idea if this will ever be instituted? It seems a lot of folks would like to have a notes section and as a retired IT professional, I can not see why this can not be done in a reasonable time frame. Ted

I just bought a fitbit and one of the first things I looked for (but could not find) was the ability to add comments. It shouldn't be difficult to add, but it should be added to all sections. The comments help the user identify what works and what doesn't.

Great idea! This would also work well with weightlifting because then you could write down what muscle groups you worked out and any ccomments about your workout.

it would be fantastic if there could be a "add a note" section to the activity log similar to there is in the food log. For example if I were on the treadmill and doing a run/walk program and I increased my run time it would be great to add the comment: 1 hour on the treadmill, 6 min run, 4 min walk repeated for 60 minutes!! Or increased my incline of 10 today!.
This would be great motivators and reminders! Certainly much more efficient then keeping a log elsewhere 🙂
Thanks for considering this request.

I agree.  I am still using Map My Walk because I can add notes.  Then transfer the workout info to FItbit.  It's a pain.  I would rather do this all in one place.

Not a bad idea, I'd like to have it too! I'll be passing this request to our Fitbit team so they can take it into consideration. Thanks for your great idea!
