Fitness Tracking Ring (for Hand)

It would be geat if there were an option for a fitness tracking (steps) ring for the hand.  I enjoy my Fitbit watch, but many times I wish I could just wear one of my many watches instead of a fitness watch.  A ring, however, could fix this because it could track your steps whithout taking the users preference for style away. 

It could contain simi-transparent display to show steps or just be a solid piece of metal (or rubber) that doesn't show steps - I'd be ok with either.  After searching for this online and coming up empty handed, I decided to check the US Patent DB system.  I see that Fitbit has a patent on Fitness Tracking devices and references various mediums for tracking (belts, hats, RINGS, etc), so the patent is already covered.  

Worth the research on market demand.

We actually bought the Motiv ring. Great concept but its not a fitbit 😞 All of us have fitbits and would love one in a ring format.

Got a motiv ring a few weeks back. I love it but I’d switch back to Fitbit in a heartbeat if they could produce a similar ring. I miss Fitbit but the ring is the way to go in terms of hardware.

So I commented earlier that I wasn't sure if I would be keeping the Motiv ring. I decided near the end of the trial period that the important aspect of ring vs wristband was the calorie tracking and motivation to keep moving, which the Motiv ring does do, so I kept it! It's much more convenient than my old Fitbits and gives me the bare minimum of what I need, so I'm sticking with it.

That being said, as someone else mentioned, I would switch to a Fitbit ring in a heartbeat as well!

Do you find the step counter to be pretty accurate with the motiv ring? I tried a few cheap activity trackers and they either said I went way more or way less steps than I actually took. Yes, I literally counted 500 steps multiple times and I have found the Fitbit to be the closest in accuracy.

I wore both my Fitbit and the Motiv ring for about 5 days to Make sure I wanted to keep the Motiv ring. They were only off by about 100 steps three days, less than 50 steps one day and within five steps one day which seems pretty amazing to me. I wore them both on my left wrist and hand

Zvantex, thanks for that info! I was curious to see the step comparison.

Individual steps don't matter to me much, I mainly use my Motiv (and used to use my Fitbit) to track calories burned. I calibrate my calorie burn by seeing how many calories it estimates during a normal day of sitting at my desk at work. I then lower my goal by that many calories, so the only way to get to eat more is if I burn more calories in a day than a normal sitting-around day.

In training as a powerlifter, I strongly vote in favour of fitbit developing a tracking ring. I love all the fitbit products I have used, I love the iconic as well however in being someone who trains for heavy lifting, I always have to take mine off to put on lifting straps. A flexible material ring would be perfect and I could keep it on and keep using my fitbit app.

I too would love a Fitbit ring. As much as I love Fitbit’s interface and ease of use, I’m very tempted by the Oura or Motiv rings. The only reason I haven’t switched is that my employer has a Wellness plan that works with Fitbit and Garmin. However, I would much rather have a ring and I’m to the point I’m about to switch to Oura, even if it means losing out on some of the benefits we get from using our fitness tracker with our wellness program.

I’m holding out for the New Year. Maybe they will spring a surprise on us. If not I’ll have to switch. I LOVE the idea of a ring. And so far all I’ve seen are positive comments.

Jmjones07 - I got an Oura Ring, not only does it tell you your steps in the
day, but it also gives you a sleeping tracker which is super important. I
love my Oura Ring... it is the best thing ever. I am sure that if you get
an Oura Ring you will be very happy with it as well.

If Fitbit want to stay on top they will need to produce a wearable finger ring product line else the manufacturers of these product will leave fitbit behind in a few years. Stay tuned with technology or tune out.

I messaged Fitbit on Facebook today to see if there was any plans in the near future for a ring version and the response was that it is not currently in their product roadmap. I would really love a ring version as the watch gets uncomfortable at times while typing at a desk all day. I have been looking at the Motiv for a while now and now that they have good reviews with Android compatibility I am considering the switch. Hopefully we will hear something soon with plans for a fitbit ring before I decide to spend the money on Motiv or Oura.

I have been a fitbit user for 4 plus years and love the product.  However, I don't like wearing my fitbit all the time instead for my various watches.  I'm now looking at Motiv Ring so I can starting wearing some of my other watches and still get my fitness data. When will Fitbit offer a smart-ring? I have seen this thread open for 3 years now.  Would love an update.

I just discovered the Motiv ring which looks incredible. I would love for FitBit to come up with a ring themselves. I love fitbit quality, data, and community, but there are times where I want to wear my Fitbit and a regular watch at the same time.

I bought the Motiv ring.  Love it and it works well.  I WISH Fitbit could refactor their One into a ring.  I've tested it and a few things...

1) steps are on avg 1K steps off from each other

2) sleep patterns UX is different.  I like Fitbit's better. 

3) battery is about 3 days on the Motiv ring

Generally it's exactly as many people on this board state - they want to at times wear other wrist pieces but have the data.

I would pay big bucks for a nice looking ring. I own many watches that I never wear b/c i'm addicted the the Fitbit. I'm likely going to buy the Motiv ring b/c of this reason. I'd hate to lose all of my Fitbit progress i've earned over the years but I really want a ring as opposed to a watch.

I would love a ring as well. I want to track my heart rate and sleep at night, but I just cannot stand wearing my tracker on my wrist while I sleep! It drives me crazy. Considering motiv ring just for that but would prefer to add another Fitbit. I have had three and currently have the versa. Just can't stand wearing to bed.

I have been using Fitbit for some years; Mine finally died, leaving me looking for a new one. I saw an Ad about fitness RINGS, loved the whole concept! I think the idea of one ring as opposed to 2 bands (my watch, which requires no buttons to read, and the Firbit) is worth the price. 

Just an opinion, but, I think you could be losing several customers by not tossing your hat in the ring (sorry about the pun, couldn’t resist!)

Love Fitbit, but I have an Android watch. Having a ring would make having a Fitbit convenient as well. Hope this comes true!!
