Food Database for Australia

Now that Fitbit is being sold (and is loved) in Australia, I'd love to see a Food Database for Australian users.  I don't use the Food diary at the moment, because it takes far too much time trying to adapt the American database to match what I am eating.

Would this be possible in the future?Cat Happy

Hi,

I found this very frustrating as well so I use My Fitness Pal to log my food. It has a great Australian database and you can link it to youir Fitbit. Just keep in mind NOT to compare the readings between the two as they will differ and it can be confusing. Use MFB to log your food only and Fitbit as your guide to calories/ exersise/ sleep etc.

Would love to see a database for NZ users, is that a possibility somewhere down the track?

Love my Fitbit so far and am currently using the American food database. I don't want to link my account to MyFitnessPal though so the American and therefore not quite accurate database is my only option. I'd love to see an Australian food database, pleeeeaaase 🙂

An australian data base would be great to see, also more of the fresh fruit/vege as most dont eat all the processed food while losing weight/getting fit. Also a larger range of 'fresh food' on the list would make it easier to log being from australia

I am currently using the "My Fitness Pal" for the food data base. Using multiple apps to record the same info is a waste of time. The fitbit app is a good app but needs to accommodate the australian food data as well. I see a lot of these fitbit devices around everywhere here and I believe everyone would enjoy using a database relevant to where they live.

If I was to write up various Food Database for fast food chains and Australian version of snakes and bars, would it be possible for FITBIT to make it a downloadable database for australians?

I would appreciate the option of kilojoules units ias well as calories as all our food is labelled in these units and I need to convert everything prior to entering. Thanks

I note that there are a lot of requests for an Australian food data base but there is not much reponse to those queries.  Any progress please

Hello there

Ive been using Fitbit for almost 3 months now

and im still waiting for Fitbit to update the data basa to australian food base

it is totally pointless trying to guess via USA data base as our foods are somewhat very different

It defeats the purpose if calorie intake is inacurate. And defeats the purpose the purchase of Fitbit

Would you please address this very important issue for us Australians please.

Wouldnt have considered purchasing your product had i known of this prior to purchasing!!!!!!

Many thanks

Maryben

Fitbit, please here me out here (and the rest of Australis). We need to have an Australian food database so we can actually use the food dashboard. The barcode or the search doesnt have any Australian foods because you can't select it in settings. Please, millions of Australians have bought a fitbit, so can you please do something to reward them. Thank you

Yes, we desperately need an Australian food database. The calorie intake is pointless for us

I agree with everyone's comments here. I just bought a fitbit and didn't realise it was so American based (should have done more research on it) and was very disappointed not to see Australian foods. I've synced it with Weight Watchers, but no correlation between foods/points at all. So I will just keep tracking in WW and not worry about the fitbit food tracking. Shame that half of the software is virtually useless.

As with many Australians I would love to be able to log and see data in Kilojoules and not in Calories, I would not recommend this device if KJ is not an option. It must be a simple option to enable a change to KJ as a option.

That and an Australian food database would be nice

I would like to see it linked with CalorieKing which has a great established Australian food database

I have had a Fitbit Flex since June 2013 and it's great. The only downside is that it there is not Australian Food Database.

It's great to see Fitbit bring in new additions to their catalogue and being sold within Australia.

But when will you put the effort into releasing the Australian Food Database to make it easier for the many who have and continue to purchase FibBit items and remove the need for these purchasers to manually enter their food items which is time consuming.

When will the Australian Food Database be released?

Requesting for an the food data base to have and Australian option. I can't log any of the foods I eat as they are not available.

I agree- please add an Australian Food data base. Like Sammi, I make most of my food at home. The American terminology would be "from scratch" using "raw" (i.e. fresh) ingredient's- which are very hard to locate on the current lists of Americas branded foods. This would also help those of us who are following the Paleo principle.

Please add the Australian/New Zealand food database to the fit bit app.
I was so excited to use my Fitbit, and the fact that I cannot use all the features to its best ability really sucks.
I still love my Fitbit, but it would be awesome if it were complete!
I still have to use myfitnesspal app to track my food as it can pick up any food or item especially if it has a barcode.

Yes we need to be able to document our food here in Australia as I am guessing with the USA food list and it always seems to be higher calories

I am not happy at all with the food data base. surely if FIT BIT wants to be successful in Australia they will add an Australian data base. its such a stuff around at the moment and I dont feel that the FIT BIT is being used to its full extent. PLEASE ADD IT SOON!!! its just frustrating.

I to would like to add my request for an Australian Database of foods.    I prefer not to use a 2nd program for the database.

I hope that with enough requests Fitbit will realize how importan it is for our motivation etc.
