Heart Rate Monitoring

I love my fitbit flex but I would love to see and upgrade to include heart rate monitoring. I currently use a separate heart rate watch when working out to get a better accuracy for calories burned because when I do the insanity workout for 45 minutes the flex only says 6 minutes active but I know I am working very hard for the entire 45 minutes. Will this ever be an option?

Please allow me to measure my heartrate for while I'm at the gym, and my pulse.

I would love to have a pulse sensor in my Fitbit Force that can track heart rate in real time!!!  How useful is that in fitness training?!!

How soon can we expect to have heart rate sensing in real time in the Fitbit Force or Flex bands?

i was actually looking to purchase a separate heart rate device, because I really need to be able to track this for high intensity workouts.

Would like my heart rate strap to communicate to my FitBit

There are heart rate monitor apps for as example Android, I believe it would be cool if Fitbit could have a app from their own so the heart rate is monitored and automaticly uploaded to the account or work together with other app developers from those apps (which are used by many users) to integrate the ability to upload the data to Fitbit instead of having to enter manually.

Heart Rate monitoring would be an amazing feature - I might even upgrade my FitBit Force if you had that feature on another FitBit model.

HeartLuv my Fitbit so far.

It would be nice if it also measures your heart rate.

I would like you to come out with a fitbit heart rate monitor that you can wear to track calories burned during exercise and sync with the app to log it for me.  Fitbit would be a one stop shop then.

Or at the very least-add more activities in the manual search.  I do a lot of cross fit, tabata, boot camp, etc.  I always have to choose boot camp and guess how many calories I burned.  Maybe also add an intesity level so we can have a better guess of calories burned.

It would be nice if the Fitbit would link with the Polar heart rate monitors

If I could piggyback on this idea: it would be great if Fitbit included the ability to sync the Force with a wireless heart rate monitor.

Also, if Fitbit could not change the Zip. It is perfect just the way it is and is great for those without a large budget but with a desire to easily track their fitness and set goals so they can improve themselves.

The technology is very simple and the competition uses this feature.

The technology is simple if all you need is get an instantaneous HR value, which is what the Withings Pulse is doing, for instance. Things start to get more tricky if you want continuous monitoring of your HR. Reports on integrated activity trackers (eg. the Basis B1 band) that do this aren't that good.

I personally prefer using two separate devices that are good at what they are doing (in my case, Fitbit One for activity tracking and Mio Alpha for HR monitoring) than a single mediocre/unsatisfactory one.

I agree with Dominique.  I prefer to have two separate devices that excel in what they do, rather than have everything packed into one device.  When two many features are packed into once device, the device will probably end up being "buggy" and problematic. Also, it you are having your steps and heartrate counted continuously by one device that device's battery power is not going to last very long.  I prefer my Fitbit Flex, which I have no intention of trading in for a different brand of device, and my Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor Watch with chest strap.  The two devices worn together give me all the information I need to see how I am doing.

I agree w/ Candy.  I'm used to my HR monitor giving me fairly accurate calorie burn as well as my HR for ANY activity.  Fitbit doesn't take into account my Resting Heartrate OR my Kavorean calculated HR zones for accurate calorie estimation.  It also doesn't measure my cals. during weight training, biking,  or other activities that don't require a lot of arm movement.  Honestly, I'm not sure why I'm still wearing my FitBit, since it's also stopped tracking my sleep for the 3rd time since X-Mas!

Sycing with any exsisting HRM would be amazing. But having thier own HRM add on or upgrade would be pretty dang cool

My comments are all the above. Heart rate is a key tool to training.....

Heart rate monitoring is one thing I really want. I love everything my Flex does but need that option in addition to what I have. And it'd be great if it worked with any chest strap so I don't have to buy another.

Ill echo the above. Heart rate is a must for me on the next one ?

A cross reference to calories burned during other physical activities would be helpful in adding "other Activities to our lists. I don't have a clue how many calories are burned during weight lifting, time on a Gazelle strider, heavy house work like SCRUBBING floors by hand, horseback riding, ice skating, stationary cycling, etc. But every time I try to put these activities in the log site, it asks me for the calories! I know I burned some because I have the sore muscles as a result.

THis is only missing feature that has prevented me and a lot of people I know from buying a fitbit.

Or, at aleast, add a third-party HRM support to the app.

Would love to have a way of quickly checking heart rate. Especially while working out.

Would like to see FB app link with heart rate monitor. I like the idea of connecting with hr strap to read workout info. Another company already does this
