Heart Rate Monitoring

I love my fitbit flex but I would love to see and upgrade to include heart rate monitoring. I currently use a separate heart rate watch when working out to get a better accuracy for calories burned because when I do the insanity workout for 45 minutes the flex only says 6 minutes active but I know I am working very hard for the entire 45 minutes. Will this ever be an option?

I would like to suggest a heart rate monitor chest strap so that calories burned is accurate at all times.

I agree. Like a chest strap

I think this can be done quite easily by simply adding Bluetooth BLE support to the app and all Fitbit device owners can benefit from it.

Simply add support for third party BLE HRMs and whola, all done! If a chest strap or a device such as MIO Link is paired with the Fitbit app, use the heart rate data to adjust the calories burnt. It seems to be a no brainer! I wouldn't want hardware sensor built in to the device. It will drain the battery and you really only need it for high intencity cardio workouts that you are likely to wear a strap.

Today for my cycling, I have to import my HRM recoding from my Garmin device, whcih is a pain in the neck. I am very tempted to swap Fitbit for a Vivofit.

Love my fitbit! Would love it even more if it had a heart rate monitor that helps to track calories burned in times more active.

We have updated the criteria for what is considered to be an "active" minute - hopefully you are happy with the new configuration. You can read more about the change in this help article.

I would really love it if a heart rate tile could be added to the dashboard.

A heart rate monitor would be great to help with the accuracy of the calorie counting.  If it does need to be worn tightly on the wrist for the duration of the workout would be fine.

Many of us at my office are enjoying the fitbit flex and we love it, but would really love a heart rate monitor to be included.

This is would really boost business, as many don't buy it due to the lack of heart rate monitor.

Any time soon??

thanks!!

Fitbit needs to add a heart rate monitoring feature to its product line - that's the only way you'll be able to know how many calories your specific body burns, not to mention all of the benefits of knowing your target heart rate zones, etc. I have the One and have been holding off buying a different tracking device because I was hoping Fitbit would come out with something that measures heart rate. GPS tracking would be nice, too!

I loved my fitbit force before the recall. Everything about it put it above all other fitness trackers in my personal opinion. It fell short in one key area, it was hard to help track my fitness when doing any sort of resistance training, or stationary biking since not much arm movement was tracked. Since the fitbit already has the capability to connect via bluetooth to phones, computers, etc. I would like to be able to have it connect to bluetooth compatible HR monitors (polar 7, wahoo). I feel that adding a heart rate monitor option to a fitbit with a read out option like the force used to be would really add the fitbit to the top of the list with no question about it. Maybe even similar to sleep mode, a HR tracking mode, where it'll continue to track your steps but display your HR on the first touch, second touch would be current workout time. I feel that constant HR tracking would be unneccesay and should be its own "mode" similar to sleep tracking. Since most fitness entusiasts would really only need to know their HR during actual exercise, to save battery on both the HR monitor and watch.

I have the Heart Rate App on my iOS iPhone, is there a way of linking this to the Fitbit Dashboard?

I am looking for a heart rate monitor with a chest strap, not just the finger pulse meter you have already. I have the One and the Aria already and I want to stay in the Fitbit product family. I am looking getting the polar FT7 so I really would want something similar to that.

The way I see it: Priority #1 Third party BT HRM support, Priority #2 Integrated IR HRM (only if accurate during high intensity training)

I was wondering what the community thought is if fitbit made a heart rate monitor. (I don't work for fitbit, just think it's a great idea.) My thoughts on it is this. It would be a new product able to read and record your heart rate. It would store this info for up to a week. Then start deleting the last old day, to keep only one week data logged. It would do everything the Fitbit flex and one does as well. And the device would sync with your Fitbit app and give you real time data. It's got to be sweat proof. Have bluetooth tech. And I wonder if wifi could be incorporated, like the aria. It would be the super Fitbit. Ooo, name it , Fitbit super or Fitbit superior.

I though Fitbit already had the option to add a Heart Monitor to the devices like a software update. I would very much like the idea of a Heart Rate addition that uploads the data to the webpage along with the rest of the data. I am very satisfied with the Fitbit One I bought. I found out how little I was walking before. In addition this feature would also be good to show the Doctor the data for assessment. It can also help determine the correlation between the exercises and the heart effort. I would be great to incorporate that option into the Fitbit devices. I would like an option to only see the major variations of heart rate during the day, or measurements from specific activities.

I was thinking about buying this today. But it doesnt have a heart rate monitor. I will wait for them to make one that has it.

Would love for you to make one with heart monitor . So many people have heart disease now and really need to keep up with heart rate. You also would use it to get your heart rate in a certain zone it would  also benefit many people working out.

Having the heart rate constantly monitered would be great, BUT it would be a tight fit on the flex wrist band.   I'd prefer to turn the band around and press the device into the underside of my wrist to monitor my heart beat while working out.   I'd love that.  Tap it 3 times to go into pulse mode, revolve the band, press it to the underside of your wrist and collect your reading.

I have fitbit one. And have a Polar H7 heart rate monitor, only way I can keep track of heart rate in fitbit is to manually log and it's so labourious. please please pair up with polar. Love the new app functionality, this would be the last piece of the jigsaw. get everything in one place.😊

That would be the ultimate!  Hmm... they haven't used that name yet--maybe it's coming!  🙂

Thanks. I have a Timex Monitor and haven't tried to pair it. Wonder if it would let me pair it? Do you have any idea?
