Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

Fitbit doesn't even consider this feature to be worthy of consideration yet.

Another vote for vibration with the HR zones. An audible alert would not be as useful when exercising, as the music is often on. However a vibration would always be noticed. This is a definite please!

Aggreed... Or maybe fit bit collects all the good ideas from the forums and even if it's technically possible to quickly implement your idea, they will only do it in a new selling version for you to buy a new product, who knows...

@PierrePedro, if Fitbit issued a new band with these features, but did not implement them on mine, then I promise you (and Fitbit), that this is the last Fitbit I buy.  Slap me in the face and I will not reward them for it.

+1 this would be handy to ensure I'm in fat burning zone not higher or lower

I believe this feature should be implemented ASAP. This should be a fairly simple add on to the internal software. They already have the fireworks and buzz for 10,000 steps so a quick buzz as we enter the different heartrate zones with a double buzz if we exceed our maximum should be easy

I too would like vibration alerts for heart rate zones on the charge hr

I see it is more than a year that this idea has been proposed yet no implementation: how difficult can that be, come on Fitbit team!

At least explain to you loyal customers why it is taking so long.

If I find a wrist heart rate monitor with this feature I will be certainly switch to that rather than having to wait for Fitbit to get their act together on this.

Yes, being able to set an alarm based on HR would be very useful.

Hi.

I am afraid that this is exactly the reason why, after more than a year that
this idea has been circulating publicly, they are not implementing this
feature: it can be a huge liability!

Yet I would think that they could get away with it with an adequate legal
disclaimer, making it very clear that people shouldn't rely on this kind of
signal too much, especially if they do have heart conditions. At the end
this is not a real medical device, more of a hobbyist toy to get an idea of
their physical activity.

All the best.

Hi!

I am sorry to be quite direct but I have discovered the missing of this feature and I have to say is ridiculous.

Anyone that runs really knows how is fundamental this feature.

The HR monitor was created exactly to advise you if you are up or down the right HR zone during running. I have an HR with wristband that cost 10$ and has this feature. The Charge HR that I have paid 130$ not. Simply ridiculous. I wonder if the testers of Fitbit products are really runners...

I hope fitbit will put this feature soon as possible.

Thanks.

Mario

p.s. if you need testers, I am here.

Did not find this suggestion earlier, so I also submitted it. My suggestion was simple. Vibrate once for fatburn, twice for cardio, three times for peak. Always indicate when changing zones. Feature could be turned on/off and only used when tracking an exercise, this to save battery and to have it optional. Should be fairly easy to implement since the zones are already displayed.

Hello FitBit customer/support team

how many user claims, post, comments, vote and so on do you need before considering implementing the HR vibrating alert?

I think it's fair for you to answer here in this very chat.

A concrete answer like "no forget it, yes by this date.." would be appreciated and better than "thanks your idea is great, post it for people to vote"

Thanks

Pierre

Hi  lordpba,

where did you get this wristband? I'd l ike to buy the same

the HR from Geonaute have this function. (Decathlon had some on sale, said wrong, paid 24€)

I think Fitbit refrain to put this function because their HR actually are not very precise and stable, so maybe a notifaction can be annoying, but they should put as optional, maybe as beta update...

Has anyone looked at the Angel Sensor?

It's open source so someone could relatively easily program in any feature they'd want.

(I just emailed them to ask if this is already a feature on their product, I hope that if it does they'll reply here..).

Yes I thought the fitbit already did this and was searching how to turn this feature on, when I ran across this forum. It makes it a bit difficult when on the treadmill or elipticle to constantly tap the fitbit to monitor the heart rate to get the maximum out of my workout.

Can you devise a setting that beeps/buzzes on your max heart rate you want to work towards also a minimum heary rate zone.
E.g. setting the first buzz/beep at 85% my max heart rate and the second at 65% so I can stay within a certain zone.

Thanks

I mainly use mine to guage my anxiety levels which usually correlate directly to my heart rate. If it would vibrate to let me know I'm anxious (usually I can't tell before I have a panic attack) at a custom heart rate I pick - let's say 80 or 85 - that would really help me enjoy the charge HR more.

I bought this FitBit to track my chronic anxiety and to help me know how much I've slept. I know that's not why you're supossed to buy it for but it works: The higher my anxiety (usually I can't tell unless I begin to have a panic attack) the higher my heart rate - minus the occasional adrenaline rushes that skew the data.

I need my Charge HR to let me set it so that it vibrates at 80 or 85 (preferably a custom number here) beats-per-minute to alert me to calm down before I have a panic attack.

I'm on the Android app for the Sprint HTC One M7.

Thanks,

I have a fitbit charge hr. I really like the HR feature and this was one of the main reasons I bought it.

I think it would be great if there was a feature that can show you how your heart health has improved over a time period.

It could show you how quickly your heart rate goes back to resting or how effiecient it is.

I was just reading 'Primal Endurance' and a heart rate limit alarm is key to anarobic training. I really hope this feature is added. The author of the book made it sound like its a standard feature for heart rate monitoring devices.

It really needs to notify us when we are in and out heart zones. I normally wear glasses but don't when exercising. And while I can see ok I can't read my surges notifications. So while I'm running and exercising, I can't read which heart rate I'm in. Very annoying as I have different goals on different days.....

This is the whole reason I bought the darn thing, to do HR-targeted exercising. I mean, what's the point of being able to identify or customize your max HR if it doesn't alert you to when it goes over? It's the silliest thing ever to have to fumble in the middle of exercising and push the button a few times to see my heart rate on a continual basis to ensure that I'm staying in the zone. At the very least, there should be the option to set your display to whatever stat you prefer, so you can just turn your wrist down and see the HR at a glance. Sometimes I want the clock, but other times I just want to see steps or HR. I'll probably be returning, since that was the whole reason I wanted an HR monitor. Silly me thought that for $150, this feature would be a given. - feeling disgruntled
