Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

This is exactly what the Charge HR needs....bump for a great idea!

I love the idea - But I don't like the way Fitbit uses the standard 220-Age to calculate Zones.  It's one of those measurements thats accurate for people - just not for a person.

Here's a feature request that could fix that:

Better Heart Rate Zone Calculations Feature Request

And then this one would make sense and be awesome. Once we have accurate heart rate zones - notify away!

Yes1 please consider adding a peak heart rate alarm sometime in the near future Smiley Happy

This would also be great for people who can not go over a particular heart rate. For example, I'm currently pregnant and am advised to stay under 140 HR it would be nice to have an alert to let me know when I getting close to that.

+1 for target heart rate vibration

+1 Here for sure!  I've only had the Charge HR for a week now but was quite surprised that it did not include this feature already. My personal suggestion is that the heart rate zone vibration automatically activate when you start the timer for a workout and then deactivate when you end the workout.

This feature should be available for all at all times. People that are potential pacemaker candidates need this information. No one wants a pacemaker, unless they actually need one. This feature could save lives.

It will be extremely useful if you will add notification of changing hr zone with vibrating and blinking, with panic mode for peak(as an configurable option). I have to use mio alpha 2 for this... So I have 2 devices and I think about surge, but without this it closely the same.

Amen! I see this thread has been going for a while. Does anyone have the link to vote on the ideas forum that fitbit considers?

@BigHaole thanks! I did vote in this thread so wanted to make sure it counted for what fitbit considers.

@arck88, this is the right place to vote, but history has shown that our votes don't count for what Fitbit considers.  This request is going on a year and a half and hasn't made it past "reviewed".  Fitbit just doesn't care, which is why I could not recommend my wife to get one.  She went with a Garmin instead and is very happy.

Would love to have a vibration notification on the Charge HR for heart rate.. Like I could set my working heart rate to 140-160.. And it vibrates when below 140.. And vibrates above 160.. So you don't have to constantly look at Fitbit while working out. Thanks

+1 for out-of-zone alarms!
I just bought a surge as my first fitness watch and I didn't even think to check that this feature was available since frankly I couldn't imagine it NOT being available since it seems like the principal requirement of a fitness watch.

Hi I think it would be a really good idea if there was a feature for the Charge HR to vibrate if you went over a set peak heart rate. Not only would this be a great workout tool but would also appeal to the thousands of people with heart issues that put themselves in danger if they over exert themselves and get their heart rate too high.
I know I'd buy one for my father as he has a heart condition that he needs to monitor closely.
Many thanks

I second this recommendation! Would be much more useful for HR zone training to have it buzz when you exceed your target HR rather than have to keep checking the device manually.

If you have heart issues, you probably shouldn't rely on your Fitbit to tell you when your heart rate is too high... On the other hand, it might be useful to have your Fitbit alert you if you're slacking off and your heart rate drops too low during a workout.

It's not about relying on it but it could give you an early warning that something is going on that shouldn't be.
But yeah going the other way alerting you if you drop out of a certain training zone is a good idea too.

I reckon this idea would be good for all of the Fitbit devices

I absolutely agree with the main suggestion for a peak heart rate alarm. That simple improvement would make this product fantastic for user doing rigorous exercises who cannot be checking their device every minute. This will prevent over stressing your heart while you push yourself exercising or playing a rigorous sport.

This will make this product better then the rest in the market. I really hope fitbit programs this in soon.

Thanks Fitbit, keep giving us features that is useful to keep us healthy and safe.
