Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

I got my bitfit for free, but will advise friends not to get it, as there is no update nor evolution.

Even my Polar many years old had this HR alarm...

This request has been floating around for about a year and a half, "in review".  Please go to https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/Vibration-alerts-for-heart-rate-zones/idi-p/602519 and vote for that version, which already has over 1200 votes.

Sorely needed! How do we vote for this?

@Mel66, top of the page, click the thumbs up under the vote count.  I'm still holding out hope for FitBit to build this simple feature.

Please add the feature to set a target heart rate not to exceed and once it is reached the watch can tell me and notify me instantly so I don't need to always check it manually

Over a year, 15 pages, 1300 thumbs up, and nothing...I won't recommend fibit to friends.

I'm going to look around for another tracker.  This is a basic feature that I figured was included.

I've been using an old polar FT4 for this. I'm really getting tired of switching watches 😞

Very disappointed with this not being addressed. Looks like a feature people want! Come on Fitbit at least give us a reason why you can't!

I want to use the tracker to remind me by means of a vibration alarm to stay within a predefined Heart rate tranig interval.

I dont want to always look at the tracker for that.

+1 for heart rate alarm on the Blaze.

I've had my Blaze for just under a week and I love it! If I could be notified if my heart rate goes over a maximum that I specify, that would be a great help to my training program.

Thanks

Would be nice HR zone alerts. Max Heart alert could save lives, so at least add this alert at minium, as soon as possible. Please allow user to manually set Max HR alert. Some have medical conditions and need to keep heart rate max lower than healthy folks. User can set max HR according to doctor's recommendations.

Over time we have learned thatFit bit is not designed nor has any interest in customers who find heart monitoring a important part of their exercise routine.

Their continued silent For years on this customer request makes it clear that if this feature is important to you as an athlete, training to improve your health, or just beginning and want to improve your health, fit bit is not for you as it is not serious product for those who actually exercise.

It is, very unfortunately, a piece of expensive trendy fashion

I got my surge and heart rate was the first thing I looked for. Disappointment. My wife has repeatedly asked if I would like the new fit bit but I'm not interested.

Fitbit = trendy fashion, not for those who exercise.

I created the post for this idea, and like other ideas, FitBit has no interest in supporting the user community.

Picked up a Surge last week on a 15 day trial basis. Also tried the Mio Fuse which had HR zone alerts, various Sports, and all day data. Fuse was a waste of time. Not accurate in any conditions and then my dog ate it. I have been using a MioApha for a couple of years, for a heart rate monitor sending data to the iCardio app, which some alerts. The Alpha is a very accurate HR monitor and iCardio does a good job, but limited to only workouts. Wanted to add all day activity. Been doing a head to head workout test with the Surge/Alpha/iCardio. Surge does not work on top of the wrist with "some" sports, but if one flips it to the inside of the wrist, it will match the Alpha/iCardio close enough. Blood flow closer to skin inside the wrist. Just need to know what Sports to do the flip. The Alpha has a notably larger and brighter optical sensor, but it's only used during workouts. Think Surge optics, being all day. are less strong to conserve battery. The Surge was about 10-20 secs slower in response time but it's good enough for my needs. Surge is enhanced over my wife's Charge HR in terms of workouts. Like the music control and text/email/call alerts. Thinking HR zones alerts and hopefully Max HR alerts may be future firmware update for the Surge. I'm keeping it for the all day data and I'm able to make the HR data data work so it matches my current Alpha/iCardio system for workouts. It's missing the HR zone/HR max alerts and the optics could use more power. Keep in mind I disabled many of the HR Zone alerts in the iCardio app because it will drive you nuts sometimes. If you are working close to a zone border, voice messages or vibrations can happen many times. Max HR is very imporatant. Fuse had the best idea with the led changing colors in different zones, but it was totally inaccurate on just about everything...laff...and a tasty treat for dogs. Must have animal product in the materials.

No update on this? Would be really helpful. Original post was 2014, it's 2016. They haven't been able to come up with anything??? Sooo disappointed. Found this under posts that have been seen...so they must know it is considered a useful option by owners/potential owners.

Just picked up a Microsoft Band. Like that the optic sensor is on the band clasp so HR is measured on the 8n side of the wrist where blood flow is closer to the skin. Won't have to flip the watch arround like I do now on the Surge on some sports because it doesn't pick up HR data. Doing a head to head over the next few days. Surge versus MS Band. Will post what I find.

While it's been over a year since this has been suggested many of us would still like this feature

If you suffer from a heart condition, it would actualy be VITAL to have the device vibrate when I reach the maximum heartrate that I have specified as being safe for me.

+1 for the suggestion!

Here's more detail on my tests with Surge and MS Band. Surge is more accurate on HR during workouts. Surge is more comfortable. Band felt like a heavy shackle to me. MS BAND apps are not as good a Fitbit apps. In fact, one has to use 2 mobile apps to do the same as the one Fitbit app. Also, even with 2 mobile apps, the MS Band website would need to be used to get the same picture Fitbit does with a single mobile app. Surge wins by a mile. I returned the MSBand, but picked up a Fitbit Blaze. The Blaze beats Surge in my opinion. Blaze is more comfortable by a mile and less bulky. Display beats Surge by a mile in all conditions. Both use the same apps and have the same functionality, except Surge has onboard GPS and Blaze uses your phone for GPS. For me, I have to always have my phone with me, so I'm not willing to sacrifice the display and comfort to get on board GPS. I do have to flip both devices to get accurate Heart rates during exercise from the inside of my wrist, instead of on top of my wrist. Again the Blaze is more comfortable in the inside wrist position. I returned the Surge and settled on the Fitbit Blaze as my best choice. Liking the Blaze over the others by an easy mile.

Fitbit Blaze and Surge are winning products in my opinion. Let's hope Fitbit isn't getting lazy and product development keeps pace to maintain this leading poistion. Seems both the Blaze/Surge could benefit greatly with HR alarms. Mio is doing this already and soon the other competitors will likely follow. This would hugely strengthen the Blaze/Surge as workout products as well as activity trackers. We want both sides of the equation in this case and both these products could pull it off with a few software updates. In the meanwhile the Blaze is killing the other products in my experiences.

Really enjoying my Blaze except for one critical detail: it's really hard to stay within a given heart zone because there is no feedback. If you're using a heart rate monitor then you're probably also trying to stay within a certain zone to meet a specific training need. Right now the Blaze isn't very good for this due to the lack of feedback. Looking down at the watch isn't always practical and gets annoying.

It would be great if in the Fitbit app under Account->Heart Rate Zones you could add "Upper Limit Alarm" and "Lower Limit Alarm" slider switches. When selected this give you a quick three vibration notification that when you go above/below the targeted zones. You would get a single, longer vibration alert when you return to your targeted heart rate zone.

Having an upper limit custom alarm would greatly alleviate the anxiety of worrying about my defibrillator going off.
