Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

I am a heart disease patient and is going on sporting regularly to keep up my fitness. The max heart rate would be most valuable to me if it could alert me during exercise. Most of the time, medical professionals have advised me of a maximum heart rate to avoid accidents. If I could be alerted on time, it meant to have saved a life.

Ditto cappacoo! The Surge is my third Fitbit and I've them all. But now I, too, am trying to follow the Maffetone Method and it's annoying to look down at my watch so often. I'd prefer it to buzz when I go over my target, which would seem to be something I should be able to manually set. I haven't yet begun searching for other products that offer this, but I am hearing a lot about Garmins.

This would be really useful as having had a heart attack I am to be careful not to let my HR go above a certain level.

I notice this was first suggested 18 months ago but still isn't implemented, how do we know what status an 'idea' is in? i.e. Accepted, rejected, under development & expected implementation date etc

It's in "we are ignoring our customers voice" status.

Yes please add this feature to the Surge!

That would be a nice feature. Please add HR notifications if possible.

Ability to set an alarm at upper end of heart rate
Or really bottom end of best practice rate
This allows for maximum cardio workout without constantly looking at Fitbit HR

What if every member of this thread create a support ticket to Fitbit ?

It's normally a good way to get the attention and receive an official response, as it creates overload and detected quickly by management. The key here is to agree on a same title for each ticket, for example : Vibration alerts for heart rate zones not available on Charge HR and Surge.

Thoughts ?

A bit extreme. But given the (lack of)response or comment by the company
so far, may be the best idea yet.

I don't have a twitter account. I like the idea of making the issue more
visible in the (twitter) public space, too.

I'll try option 2 , first. What is your timeframe?

Hi!

Just now I submitted this text to support via the online "contact us via e-mail" feature request form (we could all use the same template if you want):

Hi!

It should be possible to track "bicycle" activities from the Fitbit App on mobile phone in addition to walk, run, and hike. This is extremely easy to do. And the tracker itself already recognized biking. So it's just a matter of the phone tracking the GPS from the phone and adding that to what the tracker would already record.

I don't imagine how this could be impossible to do in a short time... and it's been requested on the forums by so many people!

Just do it and make your customers (existing and future) happy.

And I tweetted this onn June 26th : https://twitter.com/gravax/status/746999429329264640

If we all do it, maybe it gets them to move...

+1 Here - there should be customizeable HR zones the user should be able to set in the app (kind of like the silent alarms) so that they know when they reach their desired heart rate zones. I say it should be customizeable because there are more factors than age that should be considered when calculating desired HR zones during activity.

edited to add: requesting for the Blaze, but should be possible with any that have HR tracking.

I wish to have the maximum hr feature alarm as well but discouraged by how long this post has been out here and the feature doesn't exist yet.

Hoping for a software update...

I honestly don't think Fitbit gives a crap. It's obvious with this request

The main reason I purchased a Charge HR recently was to determine when I need to take a break to reduce my HR when making a hard climb on the trail.  Stopping to push the button twice when I think it may be a issue isn't what I expected.  As a software developer myself, this seems like an easy enhancement to the product, which already tracks HR and has alarm capability.  I want to go into my settings, choose an alarm type for a specific heart rate and be able to set at least three of them.

I created one ticket in category Charge HR / Other OS / usability and described the problem.

Let's flood and see if something happens. The Tweets are responded by support with a standard response , not sure that will help :(. With some luck , the press can notice and put some weight ... finger crossed !

Vibration alerts for a mazimum heart rate

It be nice to set a maximum HR for the Charge HR and use the vibration alerts to warn me if i reach it as i have a weak heart and cannot chance exceeding my doctors suggestd limits

As an individual with a damaged heart it would be nice to use the vibration alerts in conjunction with a maximum heart rate limit to warn me that my heart is reaching a dangerous level. its something that appears to have been requested by many people but there doesn’t appear to have been addressed by Fitbit

I would love to see heart rate zone alarms of some kind. Its very combersome to have to keep an eye on my Blaze while running to make sure I stay in the aerobic zone. I know other companies have this available with both watches and chest straps. All I need is a simple vibration when I break heart rate zone during an excercise routine. I would be more than willing to beta this feature!

I bought the Charge HR thinking that it would come with this feature (from posts I'd read on forums), but it appears I was wrong. I will accept responsibility for this, but I am now very seriously considering returning the device (I bought it yesterday).

This is just such a basic feature, I'm honestly surprised that it hasn't been implemented. I have a chronic illness and this is the reason I bought it. Again, I should have better researched this. But it would be great if this became a feature. It doesn't look like the engineers are bothering with this, though...so I think I may have to give up the ol' Charge HR. T'is a shame.

I've been thinking on what I've seen in the advertising that may have
mislead me or you. They say the Charge HR has "alarms", so what would we
think? But, if I look online now, the alarms are listed only under sleep
tracking, not Heart Rate. Even the more expense fitbits with HR don't
appear to have heart rate alarms. They do provide "texts" though which
makes me think they are trying to keep up with the #1 competitor's watch
instead of making a niche for themselves, and serving a different
population who buy the device primarily for the heart rate monitor. If you
do in fact return your fitbit, make sure you let them know why! And let me
know what else you find that does have what we are looking for.

We can creat custom zone in api but it would b awsome if blaze could notify when we r out of that custom zone by vibrating...it s frustating to roll ur arm to check ur heart every now and then specially in bright sunlight when its not that visible on blaze
