Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

Hi,  After waiting and waiting for Fitbit since 2017,  I did end up getting an apple watch. It doesn't do what I had hoped with the zones. I wanted to custom set the rate of each zone and have a vibration when it moved from one to the next.  The thing about the apple watch though, is that you can download apps for it, so I was able to download one that did just that for me. It did cost $5 on top of an outrageous sticker price for the watch, but it does the trick.  Now I have a watch on each hand and am tracking to see if they agree with each other on rates. Often they don't, which makes me wonder how accurate these watches are in the first place!

Hi, please please add this facility to the Fitbit Charge 3.  I recently purchased this Fitbit as I was incorrecty informed that this model provided the functionality of alerting me when I reach a preset heart rate.

I have ME/CFS and would really like the ability to set an alert (vibration) so my Fitbit informs me that I’ve reached a specific heart rate.  This is to assist me with pacing, rather than exercise, so I would set it around 100 - 120 BPM.  I know many of my fellow sufferers would benefit from this capability. I don’t need my measured heart rate to be 100% accurate. If I did I would source a medical device designed specifically for this purpose.

Looking forward to a software update!

TIA.

Anyone with any sense takes the accuracy with a pinch of salt.

what is a good and a bad heart rate varies between individuals and probably varies from day to day..

All that is needed is an indication..  lets say it is better than 15% accurate..     that would be good enough for me to use to manage excercise.

just add a disclaimer

Hospitals often use the same method, so if its good enough for them, its good enough for me !

I agree completely.  Apparently Fitbit doesn't.

I have been wanting this in a fitness tracker. I have a Charge 3 and it's handy to look down and see what zone I'm in, but sometimes the wrist activation doesn't work out, or it's so bright outside I can't see my watch face (this is a HUGE issue for me, even with it set to bright), or I don't have a free hand or time to lift/flick/tap.

Maybe one buzz for fat burn, two for cardio, three for peak, some kind of dramatic DANGER WILL ROBINSON convulsion of buzzing if you go too hard and your heart may or may not be about to explode. This has been important to me because I have a kind of crazily high heart rate as it is. I let my body tell me if I'm going too hard, but a warning to chill out would be nice. Or even to work harder for folks who don't have a hummingbird heart.

Users and caregivers of loved ones with epilepsy could potentially make use of this feature. My son's HR goes up during prolonged seizures, but he doesn't convulse enough for standard monitoring devices and won't keep a wired HR/pulseox on. If I could put a Fitbit device on him and keep the app open at night, I could get alarms when his HR crossed a certain threshold. This feature would be extremely popular with the epilepsy community even though this is not a medical device.

@ckitty

funny you mention not being able to see the face..  IWhen I dive in a wetsuit, no problem, I can see the Chrage 3 easily, but last Sunday my charge 3 face was underneath a diving drysuit and I had no chance of seeing it..  a buzz to tell me I was overexerting would have been VERY useful !

I left Fitbit for another brand because this is the most important feature I need in a heart rate monitor. It turn out that I hate the other device, but I'm stuck with it until Fitbit adds this capability. I was considering coming back to Fitbit, and was shocked that I still couldn't search for this when looking at product comparisons. I literally would have bought a Fitbit today if it were there.

I would like this, though not for excercise, but to get an alert when I'm hyperventilating and need to slow down my breathing. Not via the built-in Relax app, by the way, which is also useless.

If my watch could give me a little buzz when I'm not being active but my heart rate is still above a certain treshold, that would be ever so nice.

This would be a great feature - warning when reaching maximum of changing cardio zones

My ionic just died after 15 months. Not quite totally dead (stlll connects to the phone by bluetooth) but the display has stopped working. Tried the soft and hard reset multiple times while fully charged to no avail.I was recently diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation so a high rate warning woud be invaluable.  Looks like I have to jump ship.Does anyone have any suggestions for a fitness  or smart watch that could replace the Fitbit? I am an Android user so the Apple watch is not an option. It s a real pity that Fitbit do not seem to be interested in developing a max rate warning because i would defintely have considered staying in the ecosystem. I was  a loyal customer since day 1 and have had 5 fitbit devices.

I use a Polar A370 for HR monitoring. I have to set it up so that it's
running an activity, and the zones are set in the activity.

No joke! I am normally pretty patient and supplicating in asking for app updates but this is the fundamental function of heart rate monitors practically since the my have existed. All the 24hr, sleeptracking, etc is all app era new things. But the whole point of HR trackers from the beginning was a tool to keep you in zones. This was supposed to replace my 10 year old monitor which like the one I had before that had the ability set distinctive alarms to upper and lower threshold for the zones. It’s utterly mindblowing to me that fit bit would finally come out with HR monitoring, do all the comparatively more laborious programming of applying it to sleep tracking and such, but NOT do 10 minutes of research on the standard purpose of heart rate monitors and do the massively more simple programming of linking alarms to HR instead of steps! It’s like all the designers and decision makers were unaware of HR monitors ever existing before they can up with it and didn’t even bother consulting a middle school gym coach to figure out standard features. How can smart tech be so dumb!?

I couldn't agree more.  Unfortunately Fitbit apparently isn't listening or doesn't care what their customers want.  This forum requesting a heart rate alert  has been active for over four years and is at a ridiculous 53 pages and over 1300 requests for a heart rate alert.  Moderator hasn't updated the "under consideration" status in a year and a half.  Would be nice to know Fitbit's rational for ignoring us and not implementing what should be a simple update.

Definitely a needed feature, this has been “under consideration” for years now - I end up staring at my wrist when training, trying to keep within zone - my device is a couple of years old and will be being replaced soon, if this feature is not available I’ll unfortunately have to move away from Fitbit

This would not only be highly beneficial for those concerned about their HR, it is personally very important for me. I take a medication that increases my HR, and I often don’t realise when I’m nearing 200bpm. Having an alarm of sorts could be life saving, as I can then implement methods to decrease my HR at that specific time.

I wear glasses and I'm as blind as a bat without them. I hate wearing glasses when I'm running. I have just bought the Inspire HR and found that I couldn't read the display to know what zone I was in whilst running. I had to carry my phone with me and use the dashboard as the only way to find out my exercise zone. A simple zone alert would free me from having to choose between wearing glasses or carrying my massive phone.

I bought `versa` 3 days ago, and it seems i will return it. I just do not need a tracker which can not inform me when I have a high heart rate to pause work out. Even Chinese trackers contains that feature. Shame you fitbit

Hi , I found an app that  you can use to track your heart rate  it’s called vibrating HR Zone Tracker just open up the apps in the  Fitbit and then chose all apps  and u will fined it in health and fitness use the -and + to set your low heart rate at the top and your high heart rate at the bottom

Thanks Joe,

Unfortunately I have already gone and bought a VivoActive 3. It's very good
but still prefer the FitBit software. The good thing about the Garmin is
that it syncs with my Android phone without dramas unlike the experience
with all my Fitbits.

Thanks Joe,

Unfortunately for me, I have the Inspire HR and there is no app on Fitbit for zone tracking.

I may return my Fitbit and get a Garmin because i really need zone alerts when I'm running.
