Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

Yes, I have no additional apps to choose from apart from the generic Fitbit apps in "All Apps.

Even when I do a search of the compatible apps in 'Account/Discover/... all they do is analyse the existing Fitbit data.

Therer are no apps that monitor and alert in real time for the Inspire HR.

For an exercise (or maybe set it universally for all exercises) it would be awesome to set a minimum heart rate I want to stay above, and if I get close to that heart rate the fitbit will vibrate. For example for a bike ride, I'd want to know if my heart rate starts to gets close to 90 or 100 to remind myself to pick up the pace

Include minimum alarms as well! Meaning I want to make sure my heart rate stays ABOVE a certain number to tell me that I need to pick up the pace!

I had the recent update and to my surprise there is now an option to monitor my BPM in a larger display. There is a three segmented bar that represents fat burn, cardio and then peak. This helps but unfortunately still no alerts.

Unfortunately the Fitbit system doesn't allow multitasking, so you can't
run those notification apps while you're tracking a workout using the
exercise apps. That's when you need the HR notification.

@SunsetRunner

I don't know how the update was available to me but I'm glad that it was. I read somewhere on this forum that selected customers would have the update then it will be available to all customers at a later date.

Hi @naji-s, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here. Don't forget to add your vote!

Unlike Pail, I haven't received a recent update that provides a heart rate alert feature.  Lke Paul, I also was not able to find the vibrating HR Zone Tracker app Joe says he found that has a heart rate alert.  Perhaps it is not available for my Alta HR model Fitbit or my Android phone.  Perhaps I am just doing something wrong.  If others have found and got the Vibrating HR Tracker app to work, please share, along with your Fitbit model and phone OS.  Thanks.

Hello Moderator,

Would you please provide some clarification on the availability of a HR alert feature we all have been asking for and discussing for years.  Is it available in a recent update?  Is it available in an app called Vibrating HR Zone Tracker?

If i activate the compatible apps, then it seems I don’t have access to the running app statistics at the same time, which also on the ionic includes GPS. Activating a compatible app doesn’t seem to do the trick for me. Although I could be doing something wrong.

Yeah, the Fitbit operating system doesn't multitask, so you can only run
one app at a time.

For what it's worth adding my vote for this functionality.....it's kind of difficult (and a bit dangerous) to be reaching for/looking at your wrist when your struggling to bang out a peak interval!!!

Come on Fitbit Team, catch-up x

I'm a Charge3 user btw, no available apps that do the job as previously suggested.

Come on Fitbit - My current product is the charge 2, use it with the IOS app, this functionality should be a basic inclusion and will determine my decision on what I replace my current model with. I have seen various posts referring to add on apps which provide this - do they actually exist and what are they called. Let’s have a response from FitBit for once with an actual solution rather than platitudes! It’s a shame the products okay as is the app, but this element is a massive let down!

I have had a heart ablation and need to be alerted if my HR suddenly runs very high or very low. The Apple watch does this, why can’t Fitbit incorporate this feature.

I think it would be great if the Fitbit could let you know when you have gone beyond your maximum heart rate. Like a notification or vibrating.

I would definitely like to see a heart beat alert. We just gave my father-in-law the charge 3, as he has a-fib. He is a farmer, and not always at home where he can easily monitor his heart rate. That being said, we need more options with the clock faces so a person can adjust the size of the HR and time to be seen more easily by older folks. Thank you for your consideration!

Hi @rlosure, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration".  Keep adding your suggestions!

I live in the flat part of TX. When I went hiking in the Smoky Mountains this summer, my heart rate shot up in no time and reached near maxHR several times. I knew it by the pounding of my heart in my throat. It would be nice if my Charge2 would alert me BEFORE I reached that point. Really hope to see that feature in the near future.

+1 the only reason I long reconsideren byuing a FitBit device. If Apple Watch was not too large to my wrist I will probably swicht to it.

Hi FitBit

I’m about to start working through various heart rate targeted works as part of Concussion Rehabilitation. It would be extremely helpful it the  Charge 2 was capable of alerting me when I reach the target zone and when I’ve pushed heart than that zone. Staying beneath certain heart rate percentages are extremely important while working through the Concussion Rehabilitation Protocol. If a person exceeded the targeted heart rate zone they could harm themselves and to long their recovery by brining symptoms back or making them worse. Hopefully this explanation and ask will bring more value to the need for this feature.

FYI for those looking for alternative product with this feature Garmin sells trackers of similar size and shape with heart rate alerts.  Big bulky Apple Watch isn’t the only alternative.
