Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

I would use this mostly for monitoring my heart rate medical issue. Once my heart rate increases to a certain level I need to sit or lay down or I might pass out. Having advance notice from my fitbit would be great.

I've left feedback on Amazon.

Fitbit answered virtually straight away with the usual generic advice.

It would be nice to have this feature on the Blaze as well.

What. They failed to address this in their new product? Guess I won't be buying that one either.

Isn't that a bummer! I won't be buying a new one either. All they had to do is put an alarm or vibrate when our heart rate went over target.seems so simple to me. Oh well. Maddy

Has there been any news on this as it would be a great feature! I have emailed fitbit and waiting in a reply but reading through this i cant see me recieving one! This update is a must for anyone wantig to acheive target zones as its not practical to keep tapping the device or pulling out your phone during a workout to check your heart rate and then after a work out reviewing the data to see you could of pushed yourself more! Please fitbit respond and inplement this 👍

With the passage of time it is pretty obvious Fitbit are not going to make this feature available. I would guess that their lawyers have advised that it could put them in jeopardy should someone rely on their fitbit heart monitoring and have a serious health issue because of a real or perceived failure in the device. To me the path they are taking was clear when they didn't include it in the Blaze.

Personally after using this product for several months I have put it away. To me it became just a toy. Accuracy was a problem in converting steps to distance, the heart rate feature which incidentally I found quite accurate when I compared it to the HR indicator on the bike and elliptical that I use, was difficult to use as a monitor. Sleep feature was terribly inacurate.

For some maybe the steps indicator can be a motivator and if so then the product is serving them a good purpose. I don't need the motivation and there are apps out there that you can enter the info from your workouts or that keep track of distance speed etc. with much more accuracy. IE: Runkeeper

Good point, goldberry. also It is not a medical device. i have a problem controlling heart rate , so I need a monitor specific for that;health reasons.
And the mio does do that. It is just such a huge watch on my small wrist. Complain complain.;)

That sucks if it is down to legal reasons as its shouldnt be used as a medical device so if its purely for sports amd training reasons i see no problem as alot of people rely on heart rates to adapt/change there efforts during training. a lot of other devices offer this, i wish i new this now before purchasing! Also it would be nice to have some acknowledgment from the support team as to wether it is possible or not. I have also posted a review on amazon which hasnt had a reply

I, also, bought the Charge HR to monitor my heart rate for anxiety and stress reasons. I am very disappointed to learn that I cannot set an alarm if my HR goes above a certain rate.

Hey everyone,
I just got off the phone with fitbit support. I brought their attention to this thread and hope something will come out of it. The technical rep (Jose) was very nice and contacted the management while I was on the phone but unfortunately, one can not speak directly with them. In anyway, my contact info was taken down, and I am supposed to get an email from the management. Will let you guys know how that goes.

I would like to be able to put in up to 5 (will settle for 3) custom heart rate zones. One custom one is not enough and the three that are defaulted do not work for me.

This is a safety issue for me. I need to be alert to when my heart rate approaches my maximum -- which is higher than the standard 220 a age -- and it would be great to have a programmable alert.

+1 Honestly I'm surprised it doesn't have such a basic feature, I'm considering selling it at a loss as it's just a pretty little toy without this!

Blaze too!! This is what I bought my blaze for and am stunned there is no option for this. Just add "HR workout" as an excel use would do!

That should be "exercise"
