What would be ideal in my humble opinion is to have very customizable options for when the idle alert goes off and for how it gets "dismissed."
Example: The idle alert occurs after certain custom conditions are met. For example, on the Jawbone, they don't give you an idle alert if you even move a little. I would say, if you haven't done ____ steps (or whatever) in _____ minutes, then alert for ____ minutes* OR until ____ steps (or whatever) have been accomplished.
*The minutes is about if you want to do 5 minutes of activity before it stops or whatever. Or another alert 5 minutes later.
Yep I really need this currently my back is getting sore because I am not getting up frequently enough. The one thing that I have that tracks my movement currently can't do it, which is exceptionally dissapointing.
@BrooklynBeka no, below the vote count (next to the idea text), there's a button for you to click which should increase the number of votes (right now it is at 1195).
I also think that this feature would be great to have. I've just started physio, and part of my routine is to perform some stretches every hour while I'm sitting at my desk. Having an hourly repeated alarm would help me remember to do them without disturbing the people who sit around me.
Exactly, I concur that having the Flare face be configurable for a rolling (1/2/4/12 hour or whatever the user wants) window for monitoring inactivity. I like your idea about vibrating after a configurable amount of inactivity. I'd like to configure that to be either desired calorie burn levels at certain points in the day or just based on minute count since last spike of movement/activity. Obviously need to turn that stuff off while sleeping!
interesting to see this forum post still going on... i for one have given up with fitbit. i opted for a refund and bought a different brand altogher; seems you really do get what you pay for. i hope fitbit takes on board some/all of these requests and does something to ease your frustration with your device. i'll be keen to see the next generation of fitbits next year(?) and what, if any, improvements have been made.
I cant seem to vote, but yes yes! I was disappointed to see this was not a feature! It would be amazing. If there is any chance an idle alert, combined with a periodic alert(like the pomodoro technique) so you could choose idle after a certain time of being idle but periodic alert which would alert anyway after a certain interval. I find it useful to keep focused as well as active.
Why is there not an idle alert setting? I did a google search to see if I was missing something and people have been requesting this option for a couple of years. Fitbit reps say to come here and "suggest" and still nothing! The other competitors have this option!! Why would y'all not figure this into an update????
I too would like an alarm/vibrate to go off when I've been sitting for 30 mins (settable), and not also asleep as it would be annoying to be awoken for this. I'd like to optionally have another vibrate each 5 mins so that I do actually stand up rather than just go back to work.
If Fitbit doesn't announce that it is The Very Next software update; that my Flex will be "idle alert capable" in the next couple of weeks, I'm returning my Flex and buying a Garmin vivofit or Jawbone UP 24. They have idle alerts
I had no idea that this has been requested for two years. I was guided here from FitBit Twitter as I was wondering when this was going to be made a feature. I am looking to upgrade my device and this maybe a game changer for me and I may have to go to a competitor 😞
Voting for this one too! Even though the other ticket is the second highest voted for ticket it seems to have been forgotten 😞 Maybe this one will help us get this feature looked at..
To be perfectly honest, all I hear from people that have this feature on their devices is how annoying it is. If implemented, it has to include a toggle for those that want to use the feature.
Most suggested implementations, have hours when it would be active eg work hours and hopefully the period and number of steps would also be configurable... Between those three things, you should be able to turn it off. Out of interest what devices have the feature? I have only found one by Garmin and it doesn't vibrate and isn't configurable 😞
Just got my Charge HR and love it, but after I realised it doesn't have an Idle Alert and the lack of Fitbit to respond to the consumers wishes (big dealbreaker!) I think I am going to return it and buy the Garmin Vivosmart. Too bad.
