That sounds like it could be beneficial! i haven't thought of that. And congrats on already being active on some of those occasions, think i will have to set my alarms up! Thanks for the tip!
My husband just got a samsung smart watch, and his alerts him like every hour to tell him to get moving. i get so jealous... i mean, the FitBit has all of the tools it needs within the device, i don't know why they can't build it.
I agree with all the other post. As many features as the fitbit has already so many other watches have excellent idle/inactivity alerts and we do not. Please consider adding this and making it available to current watch owners so that we dont have to purchase new watches.
I too would like an idle alert. I'd like to be able to set the hours during which I want to be buzzed if I'm too inactive. And I'd like to be able to set the frequency, i.e. if idle for more than 45min, vibrate. Please add this feature!!!!
Can you create a notification/have the Charge HR buzz when the wearer had been sitting for a certain length of time and needs to stand/get up and move? That is a main feature I would like to have since I have a sedentary job. Thanks!

I'm new to fitbit (Charge HR) and I'm really trying to adopt a helthier, more active lifestyle. I would love for this feature to be added. I often find I am son engrossed in what I'm doing I tend to forget to get up and move a bit. A gentle nudge after a set duration of time would be a great function to enhance the capabilities of this device! Please implement this function in all devicecs, I (and over 2.5k others) have voiced that this would be an important and greatly beneficial addition.
I no its been suggested but I was shocked today as day of work that I haven't in no way been active enough, so these devices would so benefit a 2 x buzz to indicate we need to get are lazy backside up and move more maybe give us a feature to set it if been inactive for 15 or 30 mins , we show need this feature
It's a good idea, but while Fitbit is working on that...
I set daily alarms at 10 am, 12noon, 2 pm, 4 pm, and 6pm. When it goes off, I walk around the office once, down the stairs, and then back up. Then get back to work.
In addition to that, I've implented a rule that every time I leave my desk I have to take the long way back. I.e. I walk the 30 feet to the printer. Then instead of walking 30 feet back to my desk I continue in that direction around the full loop that is our office to get back to my desk. This is about 300 feet total length. If I didn't walk so much due this rule, I would simply set alarms for every hour or less to get myself moving.
I set it for 30 minutes. It has varying reminders like "go look out the window", "go for a walk" and "look left for 15 seconds then look right for 15 seconds then stand up and stretch". Granted it isn't on the Fitbit but I only need these reminders when I'm sitting at my desk, not when I'm walking from work to the bus or walking down to the first floor or to another building on campus to help someone with their computer so it works for me.
If you want to go that route, there's an app called "FitMinder" that does pretty much everything that the FitBit _should_ do - it can be set to operate between certain hours, at set intervals. It monitors your activity level (steps) and sends you text messages if you haven't moved enough in the set period - It costs $12 per year and there's a 30 day free trial.
I tried it and it works as advertised. It just irks me that this is something that the FitBit should have had from day one.
So it looks like the new Fitbit Alta has the idle alert. I'm guessing based on the overall silence from Fitbit on this subject is that anyone with an older model is SOL.
In my old office, I used to make a point of only using the restroom on the ground floor (we were on the 5th floor) - Took the stairs down there, then often on the way back ran up the 5 floors, back down again, then back up to my office - took less than 1½ minutes in total, but repeated 2-3 times or more per day, provided a pretty decent workout.
Now, I'm in a single-story building so all I can do is take the long way, but walking is not as good as stair-climbing ;o_)_
Would love to have a reminder to move added to my fitbit one device. I get involved in what I'm doing and forget to get up unless I have to use the restroom.
Yeah Seriously, I thought this was an absolute given for fitness trackers, especially for the high-end fitness trackers. What is the deal here? Does Fitbit think its too annoying, and will lead to people abandoning their trackers?
If it is available it is usually an option. So it can be turned on or off. The better software give options to set it all the way down to 15 minutes up to more than an hour.
