Sorry, I've seen this in some of the other posts but always included with other stuff . . . would be cool if Surge could be set to vibrate if you haven't taken steps in a certain number of minutes or a certain amount of time. For example, I'd love to set mine to vibrate when I haven't gotten more than a few steps in 15 minutes. Sometimes (like in a meeting) I'd have to ignore it, but if I were at my desk I could easily get up and do a few steps or walk the stairs to keep moving. Since the Surge already has notifications then this wouldn't be too hard, but then I'm not a software person. 🙂
I bought the Charge on Saturday thinking it had this feature. I love everything about it so far except this and it might be the reason for me to return it. I sit at a desk most of the day & this feature to me is immeasurable. The pre-set silent alarms don't really do it since they could be right after I did some walking through the office. PLEASE upgrade this feature.
According to this forum, this feature is one of most requested and it already exist in your competitors products. Can you explain us what are exactly you are considering for two or even more years - as an experienced programmer it seems to me that you have all hardware features and you need only implement it. I can be wrong, but I would very appreciated if you will point where. In the meantime, I will refrain from buying mostly very attractive Surge.
Why is this still just an idea and not a reality? Come on, Fitbit. When you pay $100 or $150 for something, you'd hope they could listen and get to steppin (haha) on features we want.
Dear FitBit.... PLEASE RESPOND to this thread. We really want to know your plans for implementation of this feature. I first bought a surge, but then returned it for a Charge HR (less clunky and easier to wear to bed) and picked FitBit over Jawbone UP because I like your app and ecosystem better. But one thing I miss from Jawbone is the customer service. They are VERY responsive and you can call their 800 number and they'll give you updates on everything they know. Please let us know about idle alerts. I am considering purchasing the jawbone UP3 and switching to UP Eco system in March when UP3 is released. REALLLLLY hoping you add idle alerts before then so I don't have to make the move back to UP.
Charge HR really NEEDS an "Idle Alert" feature added that the device vibrates if you've been idle for a certain length of time that you set and an easy on/off for meetings. Needs setting not to be active during certain hours for sleeping of course. Very surprised such a basic feature was not included, a primary feature for me in a fitness tracker.
I completely agree with this, however I would like to see this alarm on more than just the Surge. The idea is to get active, so having the alarm on all of the Fitbits with wristbands would be ideal.
Nearly every competitive product has it. Health benefits aside, which is why people buy fitness bands, from a purely marketing perspective you're leaving yourself wide open with an f&b comparison.
its an easy feature to code and implement, low cost high benefit, addresses an expectation gap with customers and by responding to customer requests you look like a hero.
If up3 adds continuous/peak hear rate monitoring in the next 30 days I'll be returning my Charge HR.
I just purchased a Fitbit Flex. I had a Jawbone Up. Wasn't aware Fitbit did not have the inactivity alert like my Up did. I think I am going to return Fitbit and purchase another Up!
Idea for an improvement to the silent alarms feature. It's great being able to set the alarm for a specific time, but it would also be wonderful to be able to set it for specific time intervals. For example - have an alarm go every hour to remind you to get up from your desk, or drink water, etc.
The Samsung smartwatch has a feature where you can set an alarm to remind you that are have been sedentary. You can set the numbers of sedentary minutes and the days and time range that you want the alert to be on. I would love it if the Surge had that feature.
I would love an inactivity alarm. Over a 12 hour night shift it is easy to remain seated for many many hours!!! That gentle nudge to lift the buttocks would be fantastic.
Can we get this also for the Charge HR? I have been manually setting up reminders for drinking water with the silent alarms throughout the day but unsure if there is a maximum. Would be great to be able to set sedentary alerts to get you up and moving for a few minutes.
