Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

I love that Venn Diagram.

My question who has more to lose?

Fitbit does not link to native health apps of any of the phones, despite how easy I am sure it is to code.

So we will not be ditching our phones for different one to get integration. We will be ditching a fitness device that doesn't do what we want.

My iHealth Wave might not have the best app gallery or active user forum, but it is waterproof, tracks seimming, and has a silent alarm to wake up and when you are inactive too long. And syncs all its data to Apple HealthKit.

It costs less than any other tracker with swim tracking and inactivity alerts.

I would never have tried any other trackers if Fitbit hadn't been so stubborn.

I've tried a Jawbone Move UP, Misfit Flash, and a iHealth Edge & Wave.

Especially in iOS 9/ 10 in September with new health kit software it shouldn't be that hard and would be really convenient to sync with my iPhone garmin's app has it

I have 50 friends in the Fitbit that WERE using it. Now less than half still use their Fitbit. Most stopped using because they use iOS and Fitbit doesn't integrate with Health app. When will Fitbit realize the growing request. I'm soon to leave the platform and switch due to this very reason. Even WiThings has a more attractive option and it DOES integrate with Health app.

Doesn't apple realize the benifit of working with Fitbit? Why haven't they connected? after all compared to fitbit they are barely selling any trackers.

You see apple and fitbit have the same policy, neither one will force themselves on others but encourages others to connect up. I hope you Km or pestering apple as much as your posting here. After all either party is able to make the first move, but because of policies neither wants to.

A FB post appeared in my feed re their new one. So I asked if it synced
with Apples Health App, I also mentioned the over 3k posts here over a few
years and Asked when considering will be finished. It's still under
consideration!! That's the response

Onky a few days to the launch of hopefully the watch 2.

Apple makes computers, smartphones, tablets, iPods., and now a watch.

Apple does not need Fitbit. They will still sell products. Now if Apple decided that fitbit's deceptive interpatation of iOS compatible merits not clearing Fitbit apps in the App Store…

Besides Misfit and Apple have new deal:

Face it @Rick Laua,

Fitbit has devices. Divided that need apps running on smartphones (do the new devices talk to computers with a dongle and driver?). Fitbit needs smartphones.

Smartphone makers do not need Fitbit.

Here is a really beautiful fitness tracker -- Amazfit.

Anybody know if it syncs with Apple Health?

@HopefulRunner the new software on both platforms currently don't need a dongle for the computer to connect to Fitbit.

As for apple i know they make many devices and realize as the apple salesman told me that the watch is basically a remote control, he also told me it is not ready for market.. I was not going to ask so please don't ask either.

As for the apple line i know to many that will never purchase an apple product, most don't like ms either.

Right now Fitbit does not sync to any of native smartphone health apps.

Your two way street analogy is flawed. It assumed that two parties are equal. The smart phones do not need Fitbit. Without the smartphones, what would you install the app on?

In what way, there are many apps that do sync to fitbit, a native phone app is still an app and can easily do the same.
Now when it comes to native phone apps i find the first thing i want to do is disable them since they Ew not removable, since at best are mediocre.

I see trolling and spreading of misinformation by a single individual (who doesn’t even use an iPhone) is making a come back on this thread.

Regardless of the ongoing pointless fanboy debate by one single Fitbit apologist, the fact remains that Fitbit has completely ignored its user base on this very valid and important feature request, supported by 3000+ votes, making it the top feature request for the last 2 years. Ignoring customers for over 2 years is a long time by high tech standards.

The reality is that many users agree that the Fitbit experience would be much much better if integration with HealthKit existed (hence the existence of this thread). The reality is that many have abandoned Fitbit and many more will continue to do so as long as this important feature request continues to be ignored. I personally know of many (me included) who will not return to Fitbit even if it implemented this request today and would not recommend Fitbit to others.

Yes, Fitbit has gotten rich quickly by selling deceptively cheap products, and I mean cheap from a quality standpoint. You do get what you pay for. Looking at some of the apologist's 11,000+ posts in other threads, most of them deal with pacifying users having problems with Fitbit products (i.e. bluetooth connectivity problems, lots of Blaze problems ranging from usability to syncing problems, band issues, the list of problems and dysfunctionality goes on). It’s apparent that Fitbit continues to fight fires on many fronts. It’s very doubtful that Fitbit has the will and competence to implement this feature properly.

Garmin, Misfit, Withings, Jawbone, Under Armour, and many more upcoming wearables tech companies have no qualms about integrating their products with HealthKit.

It would be nice if Fitbit would remove “Syncs with iPhone” from its packaging so that it does not continue to deceive consumers. Better yet, it would be more honest for Fitbit to tell consumers that it NEEDS iPhones, computers, android phones, etc. to sync consumers data to Fitbit's database for its own profit, and of course warn iPhone users that HealthKit is not supported.

I gave up on Fitbit about a year ago and now exclusively use the Apple Watch - it is better, does more, does sync with the iPhone (even iOS 10).

This is the one feature that has stoped me from buying a new FitBit. My wife wants the new Charge 2, but I am reluctant to get it while Fitbit refuses to integrate with Apple.

I am hoping to convince her to get the new Apple Watch 2 (announce tomorrow) instead, but she doesn't want a "smart watch" she wants the fitbit.

Why the refusal to integrate with HealthKit?

How is this still an open request? Every other wearable device with sizable marketshare has this integration, so why not fitbit? Maybe I should take my money elsewhere...

A few people here seem to have a misunderstanding. Not integrating with the apple eh does not mean that it doesn't integrate with the iOS phone. It syncs, controls music, received notifacations, can dismiss or answer calls.. To be honest the Blaze integrates with an iOS device a lot better than it does with android.
@femaven it is a free society you are more than welcome to vote with your pocketbook
@HopefulRunner that is 50 meters static water, ie same rating as the Surge, meaning it is good for shallow swimming.

Yes if all of the iOS community acts like you few i have no desire to be apart of it.

This thread addresses the need, desire, and vote of many Apple iPhone users to integrate with Apple HealthKit, which it does not.  It has nothing whatsoever to do with android.

@Rich_Laue, I suppose the voices of 3000+ iPhone users making a request here are totally misguided and need you (as some sort of Fitbit authority figure?) to tell them what they need.

What the iOS community needs is clarity and truth from Fitbit on whether HealthKit will be supported or not. Since you are not an iOS user, you obviously don’t understand the expectations of iOS users when Fitbit’s packaging claims that it syncs with iOS. HealthKit is an integral part of iOS. Many users have commented here at how disappointed they were to realize that their newly purchased Fitbit did not integrate with HealthKit. That is the reality that you’re choosing to ignore. Instead, you choose to debate semantics and pointless hyperbole which has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

The iOS community is open minded and respectful of others needs, qualities which you do not seem to possess. It’s totally understandable why you’d have no desire to be a part of it.

The FITBIT people won't clarify. The New Apple Watch - which adds even more functionality and lowers the price will end any possibility of that.

FitBit were clear a few pages back - they reiterated that they have no interest in supporting HealthKit. We need to change their minds, though I suspect we are goibg to fail 😞

Stepping Up

I'm afraid whatever they do now it'll be too late for me. I've given up waiting and finally jumped ship, due to Fitbit's refusal to listen.

I don't care if they deal with it down the line, even if they release the best product in the universe – I'm put off for life. No company that treats customers this way deserves loyalty or success.

Fitbit produces a tracker that syncs to the Fitbit account, this is very clear, fitbit also clearly States that they want and are open to having other apps, websites, and services working with them. In no place do they say that they will go out and initiate a connection to a third party. While the apple health has been integrated into the iOS line, apple health is not needed to get your trackers data to your fitbit account.

While others have chosen to integrate with apple health, i noticed that some of these others have also chosen also to integrate with fitbit. The key here is that they chose to integrate....

Ii read in this thread that Apple has chosen not to integrate with others, and for good reasons, what the people here are not understanding is that fitbit has chosen, for the same very good reasons, not to integrate with others.

We are at a stalemate until Apple or Fitbit changes their policy, this has nothing to do with me being on android, or that S-health is in the same situation.

There seems to be a misunderstanding here that it needs to be fitbit needs to go against there own policy and integrate with a third party, the iOS health.. I simply say that apple could also go against there own policy and integrate with fitbit.

I know i keep reading that apple doesn't do this, well wake up because neither does fitbit. I fail to understand how people can understand the one party's possition and fail to understand the other parties possition, especially since they both have the same possition!!

@Rich_Laue : You have decided to disregard the company's line. Integration to HealthKit is UNDER CONSIDERATION.

They also state: "It is an interesting new platform and we will watch as it matures, looking for opportunities to improve the Fitbit experience. At the moment, we’re working on other exciting projects that we think will be valuable to users. The question we want you to keep in mind when providing feedback is: What do you imagine a HealthKit integration would entail and what do you expect to get out of it?

Your voices are being heard. We're actively reviewing your responses and providing feedback to our product development team."

FITBIT has asked for our feedback. They have received it. All we have gotten is you behaving as a troll. You are either a company lackey or a troll. Either way, you refuse to accept formerly loyal fitbit users have opted out due to the manner in which this has been handled.

FITBIT refuses to sync to AppleHealth. We get it. Please do not continue the cavalier treatment. We've had years of it, and it's why many leave and choose to share their eperiences with others in the market for new wearables.
