Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

@JohanVE My recommendation would be to return it. Fitbit actually REMOVED support for Microsoft's Healthvault so the probability that they will provide integration for other platforms isn't very high.

I am a new user of a Fitbit Charge 2. And like many others I was unpleasantly supprised that Fitbit did not support the Apple Healthkit. I assumed that all modern fitness trackers would support Apple health. Especially a well known company as Fitbit.

Please Fitbit, work on this!! Your customers are asking for this functionality, which honestly I don't think will be that complicated to implement.

Is it possible based on the hundreds of requests to be more responsive to the consumer?

Say yes, say no, say maybe; say hell no, stop bugging us, but in reality, Actions Speak Louder than words.

When asked to perform, in-action is an action.

User Story: Integrate with iOS Health

As a paying customer, I would like to transparently sync my Fitbit stats into Apple Health.

There.. Copy/Paste... Stick it in the backlog at least.

Excellent observation. It does Not violate any standards, save for the possibility of sensitivities. 😊

We're two years in on this topic, and still waiting. Any update? I would totally pay for a subscription service and start using the app if I could have my steps collected from my watch into the fitbit app.

Yes @Retroike7 there was an update on 10/8, just scroll to the top of the page to read it.

But I'll post a screen shot here. Screenshot_2016-11-10-18-15-06.png

@Rich_Laue Thank you! I saw that, but I wasn't sure if that was 10/8 of 2014, 2015, or 2016? The original post was June of 2014, and I remember them saying what they said in the update a long time ago.

BTW, I reached out to the support and I got this response:

Thanks for following up with us. This feature suggestion is still being investigated by our developers. Rest assured that we're looking into this and taking this into consideration for the improvement of our Fitbit products and services. We appreciate your time with this.

So I'm pretty hopeful!

At least the graphic posting from Rich_Laue confirms that he does not in fact use iOS (if there was any doubt).

Did I ever say I dod? I was pointing out the latest update that was missed by most in this thread.

@Rich_Laue I didn't miss it, just wasn't sure when that update was posted, because it doesn't give the year. So that could be a 2 year old update for all we know.

yeah, it would be really cool if it could sync to the health app. even jawbone devices did that. not sure what the drawback would be to sending data over about activity and sleep at the very least, even if the data was unidirectional. in trying to create a comprehensive health picture within the health app, it's essential to have this data. most of the newer iphones are capable of capturing some of the same data as fitbits do, but who's trying to carry their phone on them everywhere they walk, even in the house? alternatively what you end up with is driving people who have iphones to apple watches or other trackers that do integrate. why would you want that???

It's more than 2years Apple has made HealthKit for third party apps. How long it is going to take for Fitbit to integrate it

What got me wondering about Apple Health integration is the sleep timer, which led me to Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock which movement analysis to determine when you are in the lightest sleep cycle, and hence the best time to nudge one awake.  I would like to use my fitbit to feed this movement data analysis to get the benefits of this idea.   Whether it is part of the Fitbit Silent Alarms system, or feeding the movement data into another app, either way.  I bought a sensor to analyse my sleep and it is doing a good job of telling me some curious things, but it would be nice to have access to this data for more applications rather than locked up inside the website.

@Retroike7,

That was 10/8/2014, if you still wanted to know.

Hi Everyone!

Please know that we're always listening to our customers. There's not a day that goes by without your voices being heard. Unfortunately, I don't have any new information to provide with regards to HealthKit. I'm sorry for the frustration this has caused.

For those who sought out alternative ways to sync, I hope you are enjoying the integration. Please let me know how that integration has lead you to a more healthier lifestyle!

For those who have left Fitbit over this, we're truly sorry to see you go. We hope one day you'll come back and enjoy our ecosystem of health and fun!

One reminder, if you choose to share your feedback, let's be respectful. This is a hot topic and emotions can take over. I recommend that everyone review our Community Guidlelines for more information on how our Community flows.

Thanks for your patience and happy Fitbit'ing. Robot Happy

@RickyFitbit,

Here is how what I'm using has helped. My endicrinologist is happy with the results.

I'm a diabetic. For me my blood glucose numbers and meds are the most important thing I track.

My glucose meter syncs to HealthKit, but has a bare bones useless app. There is great app, One Drop that reads from HealthKit. In One Drop I can see my blood glucose, activity, meds, and carbs.

HealthKit lets me use the best app I can find to take a metric. The app from health insurance covered glucose meter, Cron-O-Meter for food, One Drop for my meds, and various apps for activity (which I will not mention to prevent this post from disapearing).

Because steps is just one factor in my health, I have to use the tools that handle all factors the best. Currently Fitbit does not have anyway to help with my blood glucose, unless something has changed.

I'd love to have this feature and it would be an added advantage for both Fitbit and Apple.

I have many apps that integrate with HealthKit, many of us in the community are STILL WAITING on Fitbit to join the party. I prefer my Fitbit as my dail step and distance tracker and it wouldhelp with my total fitness track king if I could integrate that with HealthKit. Please provide integration.
