Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

Please integrate fitbit with HealthKit and the new iOS! Otherwise it's not living up to its potential...

I think it would be idea to integrate with Apple Healthkit as app already tracks so many vital pieces of information that Fitbit currently does not. Unless Fitbit is planning on adding these additional features, they very well me become obsolete in grand scheme of health awareness.

Went to look at the Withings Pulse O2 and I like it. I never would have looked before. Now to replace my Aria with either a Withings or iHealth scale. I keep reading this thread hoping for @zapleahy or someone to give a definitive answer. Even a "declined" would be helpful.

"Poop" or get off the pot!

I can understand from a competitive perspective how you wouldn't want to integrate giveaway data but this is our data not yours. There's much less incentive for me to buy a new fit bit if it doesn't integrate with other products that I may or may not use.

I love my fit bit and aria but I'll be happy to give him up if I were able to have a device that integrated better with all my other devices.

A week or two ago I voted in this forum by clicking on the thumbs up "Vote" icon for Health Kit intergration.

A few days ago I voted using my wallet and purchased a Withings scale. The scale is working very well btw.

A couple weeks from now I'll vote again (with my wallet) and get a Withings tracker.

Very sad to move on... I was excited about Fitbit Health Kit intergration. It was a perfect union with all my data in one place.  Who cares which dashboard you like because they all show the key elements you want using their design. If you like Apple's dashboard use it, or if you like Fitbit then use that one.  use them both.

Fitbit's preimum service, even with Health Kit, has value so use it...  I would have Happily upgrade to the latest and greatest hardware as Fitbit introduced their new gadgets.

Fitbit without Apple Health Kit, I'll move on.

Hello Withings, nice to meet you....

Today I asked for a prorated refund of my premium subscription. I need integrated data, I'm voting with my wallet. All future devices I buy will be integrated. That is the simple truth. I have lived my little fitbit buddy for over 4 years. I got my husband one. I upgraded to a One and handed down my Classic to a friend on tight budget. I would love to buy fitbit in the future, but I need to be able to integrate my nutrition, activity, and glucose data. Not want, NEED. I will buy devices that are inline with my needs.

@zapleahy and @RickyFitbit Please let the CEO and the rest at the top of the fitbit food chain know. Right now as they take their time they are losing money.

The irony? In Fibit's refusal to integrate with Apple HealthKit, someone else has made Wristband to transfer Fitbit data like steps and sleep into HealthKit, and is charging $US1.99/$AUS2.49 for it. And we are paying for it! Yes, we have to tell it to transfer each time, but we are using it.

Would @zapleahy or @RickyFitbit like to mention that to their higher-ups?

Even though Fitbit has officially stated it will not be integrating its devices and features with Apple Health, I'd like to request that they reconsider. If necessary, I will join the many others who will move to a competing device company that has chosen to integrate with Apple Health. I would prefer to stay with Fitbit, but Apple Health takes priority, so whatever works with it will become my choice.

Thank you

I really can't believe that Fitbit are hesitating integrating their products with HealthKit. I use several apps and devices to track my lifestyle. Fitbit was the first device I purchased as they integrated well with apple and other apps. I transfer my steps data and weight data to the my fitness pal app. The my fitness pal app transfers my weight which is recorded on my aria scales so it's only a matter of time before one of these third party apps allows steps to integrate with HealthKit from Fitbit. Misfit transfer and integrate already and as such this is what records my steps at present in HealthKit. I will at the drop of a hat cut Fitbit from my choice of devices and never look at them again if they choose not to integrate with HealthKit soon. I am disappointed and don't understand why they don't integrate with HealthKit. The longer Fitbit wait the more face and custom they will lose!

2 FitBit ones, 1 Zip & 1 Aria in our household. All 3 users are on iOS.

You can not update your app?? What a disappointment!!

We will be moving away from Fitbit.

My disgust grows daily.  I keep coming back here hoping to get an update.  I see more votes (now 800+) for healthkit, still top thing requested of fitbit, and at least publicly ignoring the community.  Yes, my disgust is starting to officially turn to rage, hurt, and anger.

AHHH, thank you above to who just mentioned itunes app "Wristband amanger - Fitbit & Jawbone Up" from Sunny Studio.  For 2 bucks this will sync all data but sleep.

Downloading that bad by right now.

I'm not sure why fitbit is ignoring its customers regarding HealthKit. Your customers couldn't be more clear that we want to see HealthKit integration from fitbit. However, fitbit has drawn a line in the sand and releasted the statement "10/8: We do not currently have plans to integrate with HealthKit." That's ridiculous. I will be giving fitbit another couple of days to reevaluate their decision to ignore their customers. If they're willing to integrate with HealthKit, I'm willing to continue using their products and singing their praise. That being said, fitbit is far from the only option in fitness tracking, and if they continue to ignore our requests, I'll stop using their products as will countless others. Maybe it's time to find a new fitness tracker from a company that listens to its customers and makes informed decisions.

Come on FitBit.  Enough dawdling on the integration issue with HealthKit especially as you support Microsoft Health Vault.  Discriminating against Apple users is just plain, silly commercial sense.  Smiley Frustrated

Is it just me or have things gone extra quiet on the moderator's end? Have they said all they can say? If so, (again @zapleahy @RickyFitbit @EmilyEL ,etc) can you just give us a "Declined" status so we can move on and save everyone's time and energy on this? I mean, it seems obvious that all these votes and pages of comments are having little effect on the company's stance (which, by the way, begs the question, was there ever a point to giving us the option of voting?) and at this point, like several others, it's not about threatening or promoting other products; I just want an answer.

I really like the simplicity of my fitbit and wasn't planning on getting an Apple Watch for quite a while, if ever. But I want something that will integrate with my iPhone and the HealthKit app. Integrated experiences are important to me. So when I end up looking at upgrading or replacing my FitBit, I'm going to be more inclined to get the Apple watch than whatever competative device FitBit comes out with, largely because of device/app integration. I hope you reconsider.

Thanks!

How many different versions of a step tracker does FitBit really need? I like my Flex and it serves it's purpose so I really don't need additonal features. I'm sure that others feel the same.

What I DO need is the ability to view a dashboard (HealthKit) and see my overall progress toward my goals. I hate the idea of moving to Nike Fuel or UP however, FibBit doesn't give me much of an option.

Hah, I think I'd make an excellent secret agent @Craig.

@EmilyEL and I spoke with our Site Specialist, who confirmed that HealthVault is still supported. This particular integration is Microsoft's project, and the information goes one way: Fitbit's data goes into HealthVault's ... well, vault. However, we're always keep an open ear to suggestions, so please do keep the suggestions coming!

@Mikey1234 cheers for the advice re: disabling motion activity in settings, but unfortunately this hasn't worked and phone steps are still appearing alongside Wristband Manager ones. If you say this works with a Withings source then perhaps there is something WM needs to address to become a sole contributor of step data: I'll submit a suggestion and hope anyone else with this issue does too. Until this is fixed I'm stuck with clearing all my phone data in Health every time I want to look at my step/distance data, which is quite often. It works but it's less than ideal and somewhat frustrating and could all be avoided by Fitbit getting on board with something that we're doing anyway! Fitbit folks: it's no longer an issue of us getting our data out without subscribing to your premium service, that's happening - it's purely a customer satisfaction problem now, please reconsider and implement integration soon!

64 Pages of comments and almost nothing! Yes, please, as BlazeEBlake2 said, just put this in declined so I can move on to another tracker.

The constructive feedback that we've received is invaluable to us. Please keep them coming! Currently, I have no new information concerning HealthKit, but, once I do I'll be sure to update here the moment we receive it.

@brkrunner @bbarrera @Mleposky @TechGeek @yomikie @DeeDub22 Thanks everyone for your feedback.

@WikidlyInapt Thanks for your vote!

@BlazeEBlake Well said and to me, personally, your reasoning is spot on. Thanks for the feedback.

@Bluejay Sure! I'll add that to our doc for presentation!

The way I see it, FitBit will never say a definitive no, because that would mean that the people who are still waiting will leave for good. So the more they wait to come up with an answer (meaning never) the more you are their customer. Considering this logic I'd say it's time to buy another tracker/scale.
